We lived in Doha 1993~1997. Great place to live, safe, lots to do (including dune bashing at the inland sea) great food, but best of all, the Qatari people.

Doha is one of those cities that certain time is full of people other is deserted. Usually people go out after 4 pm. Also in Fridays rarely people go out before 4 pm as Friday is family day so family’s get together for lunch.
Lusail isn’t a ghost town and it’s not empty. All towers are occupied with residents and offices. So if you go on Sunday morning you willl see all the offices occupied with workers.
Best time to visit Doha from October - early May to explore the city. And June and September if you want to stick in the water activities. And avoids July and august.
Saying Doha is a ghost town and hot is like you visiting Canada in December during Christmas then proceed to go out on Sundays then you would claim that Canada is cold and not much people out “ghost town”
And seeing “empty” highways isn’t bad. That just means the country is well developed and have proper infrastructure. Highways are being built to accommodate the population of Qatar that almost doubled in 10 years only from 1.8 millions to 2.8 millions.

Maybe a country with that bad of extreme temperatures shouldn’t do the World Cup. This even had to move the damn World Cup dates cuz all the people would have a heat stroke in summer. I can’t wait for this to fail like a house of cards.
P.S Canada’s temperatures are quite mild during the USUAL time of FIFA WORLD CUP.

@@rosealbanai7964 It's pretty stupid tbh, because a lot of people can't do public viewing outside this year. The WC has always been in the summer, it should stay that way, but money can buy everything i guess. We'll see how it turns out, pretty sure not a lot of people will care this year.
