I have lived in Qatar for 12 years and I think your video is a measured response to the World Cup, the build up and the last decade. Is Qatar perfect? No....but what country is? If you look at other host countries over the years, most have had their issues (Russia for example) but Qatar has faced theirs and continues to do so. For me, I think this has been an excellent achievement and I am delighted to see that you have picked up on the plus points (of which there are many) without shying away from the negatives (which are relatively few). Thanks brother.

In Qatar, government projects are awarded to big contractors - mostly managed by foreigners. They hire workers from overseas through agencies in south East Asian countries. The agency takes fees from the companies/contractors. As a result Contractors expect the workers to not work elsewhere once the workers arrive in Qatar.
The government cannot control every single recruitment happening in the private sector - which is run by foreigners themselves.
For decades, workers have been coming to Qatar from south east Asia willingly (nobody forces them on planes). The workers know that conditions in their countries (and in Europe) are worse than in Qatar.

@@Macchan0830 Qatar was at fault for having laws that allowed the exploitation, just like Bangladesh is at fault for allowing its citizens to be exploited, but that doesn't absolve the foreign contractors from their fault.
As far as the reporting and journalism goes there has been some extreme exaggeration. For example the 6500 dead workers figure doesn't actually refer to workers who died constructing the World cup stadium, but rather the total number of construction workers in the entire country over a 10 year period (even outside of work or due to other causes), which actually should have been reported on in a positive light rather than a negative one and here is why:
      - Qatar has a total population of 2.91 million, consisting of 0.34 million citizens and 2.57 million migrants
      - Migrants have an employment rate of at least 91.2% (lowest report i found) and about 44.2% of those work in construction, thus about 1.04 million migrant construction workers
      - Qatar has a mortality rate of 0.1% per year (for comparison the UK is at 1%, Switzerland at 0.8%, Germany at 1.2%), thus over a 10 year period you would roughly expect 1% of all migrant workers to die
      - The math works out to 10400 expected death without accounting for age
      - Adjusting for the fact that construction workers are slightly younger than Qatar's median age of 32.2 years old, we would expect somewhere around 8000-9000 deaths, thus 6500 total death is actually significantly less than expected, indicating that Qatar took the safety of its workers quite seriously

Qatar** hmm interesting! I checked Quatar's pronunciation over google translate. Sense ur native ur won't likely misspell the word. I found it interesting that Quatar and Qatar are pronounced similarly. For us non-native speakers this is what we find most confusing about English. I studied Turkish, Spanish, and Italian all languages have cohesive spelling and speaking systems. Including my native, Arabic.
But English, geez! you can write your name in 5 , 6, 3, 4 different ways.

Actually you pointed to an important subject whether Qatar is responsible for the work conditions or the foreign construction companies, here in my country the responsibility is on the companies and the government have to check, and I saw a report say that the workers get paid well and they prefer to send 80% of their salary to their families back home that's why they live in poor conditions, but still all the numbers were given by the media were wrong it's true one live matter but they shouldn't give a false data just to make the case bigger it will harm the cause due to lackof integrity, a lot of the workers die because of Corona and other reasons that's has nothing to do with work.

Also, they’re rich enough for all to spend their winter in london, not anymore after british campaign against them.
Also, human rights is controversial, Osha which is Occupational Safety and Health Administration declares that more than 80% of world deaths is from construction world wide. It is a tough job. If you wouldn’t work in heat in the middle east you’d work 2 months in the year. better not involve football in all that.

They know exactly what's it's like because they are told by those who have been before them.. with all this in mind they still sign the contract and go. They are earning enough to support their family which tell you blame must be placed In the lap of those governments where they are from.. India has a sports franchise bigger than the
English premier League, plenty of billionaires, they are sending rockets to the moon but can't pull people out of poverty ....Maybe point the finger at them instead of Qatar
