thank you so much for posting this, returned to the game fresh in late 2020 and have been loving ninja. Its good to finally get a recent perspective on REMA/AMB/SU5 katanas from someone who actually main's ninja.
I’ve been waiting for this one! Lovely vid as always but I wanna address the issue with Nin’s mythic. On paper, it absolutely serves the purpose you mentioned, but in practice, it has to be compared to every other job’s mythic and needs to be weighed against the massive time investment demanded for it. THIS is what leads to the Nagi genuinely not being worth it, despite its niche-but-powerful uses. Which is a shame, because Nagi is the only Kama model in the game and looks absolutely fantastic
It definitely is the most time consuming to get by far, I have to agree. I even got gifted the Cat's Eye by Mog Bonanza and happened to already have an eye patch and I'm still dragging my feet lol Will get Nyzul/Assault done here someday!
@@NextGamesGuide I literally *just* finished my Ryu last week and I'm about to help my bro start on Burt. Thankfully the bot issues with salvage on Asura have died down! Good luck on the grind bro! Keep those vids coming, they're immeasurably useful!
This is unrelated to this video in particular but idk if you know thar you and Brian from work to game also a ff player both look, talk and wear a hat the same and I can't unsee itttt! Awsome video as always. I'm on your Odyssey nm videos now and used your guide to get through it
Guess I'll stick to the Ambuscade weapon for now, just got it. Might be long time to get a Heishi, let alone any the other REMAs. Still, thanks these guides, my nuking setup has definitely improved a LOT.
Good video! Though I'm a bit surprised how little you cover hybrid WSes (and the Kunimitsu's relevancy to boosting them), given their high performance in various endgame situations (Odyssey, Dynamis-D), as well as the ignoring of Naegling/TP Bonus. (As much as we all hate it, it's incredibly potent, and ignoring it in a guide for NIN players seems like it's doing them a bit of a disservice.)
Thanks, there were a few reasons I didn't cover those. Hybrid Weaponskills can't be calculated by the spreadsheet and without specific buffs or augmented Nyame gear (which I don't have) aren't very viable. This was why I mentioned when discussing the fully buffed situation that you should always try Ten AND Chi to see which is going to give you the best result given your current buffs/gearing and the enemy your taking on. Now in regards to Naegling, I really don't enjoy promoting it's use. Given ninja's state of present gearing in that fully buffed situation Heishi using Ten gets the same or better DPS overall, especially when taking on more challenging opponents such as Wave 3 Dynamis. Even Gokotai will give you similar numbers based on the spreadsheed comparison to how Gokotai does with Ten. And if the Ninja happens to have augmented Nyame then Chi should beat both as well. It may have been a mistake to leave it out but I really don't feel most should be using it these days. Additionally that use of the TP bonus Katana also makes things situational on the buffs you have to keep up things like accuracy on things that matter. Lastly, this was all meant to show a direct comparison of all of these with actual parse data over millions of damage that was repeatable and any of the situations spoken of above are again, highly situational and near impossible to get reliable parse results on. Simply wanted to collect the data I could and present to everyone for them to make up their own minds on what to do.
@@NextGamesGuide I appreciate the response. Understandable on both accounts; I didn't realize you didn't have augmented Nyame, and hybrids do really need that. Ten has sadly been noticeably inferior to Savage for me in situations where either is applicable over hybrids.
@Disclaimin Good to know on Savage Blade. My main expereince with it is in Dynamis and for whatever reason I get the same results with it and ten regardless of which I use on wave 1 and 2 and it falls way behind for me in wave 3 when I normally need to switch out the Hitaki for Acc reasons. Quite possible an improper buff situation on my part as I'm not always in the super buffed party, I'll look into it again.
@Disclaimin The other thing we may have going on here is that in Dynamis there is a bit of downtime, engadge time etc which can lower parse results. What I'm referring to is I normally end up at 1900-2000 DPS at the end of the run regardless on which I used. Just wanted to be clear on the metric I was using. I'm not comparing ws dmg vs ws dmg for instance.
"without the aeonic nin does not have the ability to do a 4 step light"? Isn't Shun> Ku > Kamu (or Metsu) > shun light? and IF you have aeonic you can 5 step that into radiance? Or was there some other restriction I missed for that statement? I'm pretty sure nin has 8+ options for self sc 4 step light with no aeonic-AM required. Light does have about half the options for 4-step as dark as well.
Truthfully I'm going to have to chock this up to just not being aware of it. Somehow my searches didn't come up with this. Thanks for pointing it out. I will have to play with it and see if it gives any different results in any of these situations, though if the parse results done already are any sign it will probably end up being about the same. Good to know of the options though, any other solid 4 step light combinations that use strong ws's in a unbuffed situation?
@@NextGamesGuide That was the one I remember initially as I use it to solo/lowman omen bosses regularly. If the old app still exists you could hunt down the old "ffxi calculator" (i use for sc's)and i'd say it's at least 90%+ accurate on all sc's. If it's still remotely updated it will have everythingSC related, even the odd ones, from sch all the way to bst with click and select menu's.
@@pieromancer909 Very nice. Will have to try that. Looks like I failed to play with starting multisteps with Shun instead of finishing when I was playing with the Flipantry Skillchain calculator as I'm noting all these multi steps that I missed start with that ws.
Actually, the first time I ran the numbers it didn't look great, even at R30 only came out on par with adhemar +1.... HOWEVER, that didn't make sense to me so I checked the data and it looks like the person who did the sheet (me) neglected to add the 200 tp bonus to the calculation... now that it's in there, even standard Mpaca beats next best option as long as you are at below 2050TP. Now if you will excuse me, I have gearsets to update.... :)
Was trying to see the comparison of white dmg of Fudo path A vs Kannagi. How does Fudo hold up for that? Fudo A, kannagi vs other weps white dmg difference seems interesting too. Unless it was there and I missed
Honestly can't say, it's not something I tested as I don't really find it relevant to end game play. I tested how it would perform in the usual situations you would use them in including white damage, ws damage, MB damage when it came to parse's, etc. Also kind of confusing as in order for Kannagi to be effective for white damage you would need to be under the effects of aftermath... meaning you have to weaponskill. And for Fudo Path A, your entirely wasting the Store TP+25 trait as again, your not weapon skilling. That being said, just using some logic on this comparison. If your comparing no aftermath Kannagi (white damage) to Fudo A, fudo A should win as your getting double damage 50% of the time and kannagi isn't, if kannagi is at aftermath 3 then your getting triple damage 50% of the time when fudo is only giving double 50% of the time, making Kannagi have better white damage. So really depending on what aftermath level your on is which of these will be higher in white damage.
@@NextGamesGuide thx for the reply. Eventually I may get path A for dnc cuz I know I don’t have the patience for empy. I hate abyssea so much as well…. But part of me thinks just going for path B is smartest for slightly more white dmg better tp gain and subtle blow 2. I may just go with that
It is a hard call deciding, I ended up making all 3 as I couldn't decide LOL. Fudo A and B will be very similar in DPS when it's all added up but you are correct that A would be better for a /dnc just due to the extra tp generation you should be getting.
When you mention that the path C fudos casting time reduction is not useful due to ninja capping recast, is this also the case for a migawari set where you would focus on ninjutsu skill and fast cast?
I have a different take on Migawari then some as I don't like reducing the activation rate of it too much, I like leaving it where it currently is in that ~60-65% range. If I'm using migawari it's because I know there is something that is quite possibly going to oneshot me so that's why I am keeping it up. However if I stack a ton of Ninjutsu skill than I can lower it as much as to 50% or more but now normal aoe's that hit for 1000 damage may trigger migwari and I don't want them to as I want it still up in case the big one happens. I find this is especially true on Odyssey Sheol Gaol NM's that use tp moves back to back under 50% HP. I've seen it a few times now when my migawari gets eatten by an Aoe that does a medium amount of damage and then it's down a second later when the big ability goes off that I wanted Migawari for. So for me yes as I use fastcast set to cast Migawari but you do have a point, if your lowering that trigger threshold with Ninjutsu Magic you could encounter a point where this would be useful in your fast cast set. Same with Kikoku. Good question though as there is a use case for it here.
Great video as always. I noticed you didn't touch a certain sword that is the bane of my existence. I am curious if that has a place for certain uses with the TP bonus Katana?
It's a great question as Naegling is very powerful when fully buffed. However, in my opinion and expereince as long as you are using the proper gear for Blade: Ten, it should equal the DPS of the Nagi when fully buffed. And if you happen to have augmented nyame gear Chi should definitely beat both a lot of the time, so in short no not really. As you can see in the vid even gokotai has the potential to do very well if fully buffed. That being said, Naegling in a fully buffed situation will always be a useable option for Ninja...I just don't really like endorsing the idea of Savage Blade Spam for Ninja :)
@@NextGamesGuide I don't endorse it for any job really 😂 its one of the few things I hope they remove. Or power creep everything else. Chi with full nyame would be quite strong. Just don't have it yet. Should be finally getting my aeonic soon. I really want to try it out with kunmitsu.
