I always imagined the space jockeys being more biomechanical, like the pilot has that trunk because it's his oxygen hose. Like if they were to appear in a new iteration, I imagine them more closely resembling the aliens in scorn.
I discovered your channel by accident searching for what the engeneer was saying to Whyland in Prometheus. Now I'm addicted! Thank you very much for all of your outstanding work on these videos that I'm still trying to catch up on Alien Theory!
Props to them for that mission. I can understand the meaning of leaving Earth behind and all that. But I'd probably end up siding with those that wanted to get their planet back.
These books and comics were some of my favorites back in the day. Imagine if we could have had movies about this instead of Prometheus, etc. Always enjoyed the actual Space Jockey vs. what they did with the Engineers, but who knows, maybe they exist in the same universe and are actually different beings. Maybe the Engineers actually modeled their technology after the Space Jockey, would explain why they used similar ships and chairs.
TeknoVKNG23 The franchise was wisely sold to Fox News who in turn owns FX cable channels. I get confused on this as well. Apparently 20th Century Fox was seperate and apart from Fox news so it was unaffected by Disney's takeover of the movie studio. Anyway, that's how what was once dead (and make no mistake , Alien was dead)has been given life once again on an upcoming FX streaming service . I've been paying pretty close attention to what little has been said about the upcoming series and against my better judgement, I like what I'm hearing. There may not be an episodic show with a core group of cast members you see week in and week out. There may a core group of characters with a centralized plot and a main story to follow but if there is it won't be a week to week thing. Something they might get back to every once in awhile but I don't think it's going to be like that. The producers have said they aren't going to be constrained by any existing, current unresolved plotlines and will be free to move backward or forwards in time nor are we ruling out the possibility of adapting already published comic book or novel material. That means they can literally do just about anything including finish The prequel films(hope not) or adapt Dark Horse material, hopefully Verheidens original Aliens series.

I personally believe the theory that the Xenos existed before the Engineers and were worshipped to an extent by them, much like David and Ash the engineers admire their “purity.” And in my head cannon the engineers and space jockeys are separate species, space jockeys being more ancient.
The engineers worshipped the neomorph which came from a strange creature that birthed something from the otherwise infertile engineers. So it would make sense that due to them calling this facehugger predecessor a strange creature would mean they were unfamiliar to it and therefore hadnt met the aliens in their history. Which gives a strong possibility of aliens existing before the engineers and not created by them
In my headcanon, Prometheus was never made. Trying to make sense of it all is totally stupid. Either that or Prometheus is a totally different franchise
I prefer that the space jockies are engineers... but I think prometheus would have been better if the transmission was a distress call that wasn't meant for humans (didn't think humans had the potential to eventually receive it) and the engineer, who had put himself into stasis hoping for rescue, quickly dies when a chestburster emerges from him.

Dallas said the Jockey's remains were fossilized. I liked the idea of them them being that distant in time. Whatever they were any of their remnant had to have evolved into something else. Thats what really disappointed me about Prometheus and what was introduced in that film.
Given the room temperature IQ that everyone on that ship seemed to posses I always assumed that he meant mummified and not fossilized. A body being fossilized in that scenario just doesn't make any sense. *Mummification is possible in a sterile environment due to desiccation of soft tissue, if the environment isn't sterile then the soft tissue rots leaving behind only the skeleton. Fossilization is only possible by replacing that same tissue with minerals which wouldn't have been possible in that environment. So what we saw was a mummy not a fossil and Dallas is an idiot.
