      The 7 Pro will still be one of the top camera phones on the market for sure. Many people still think that Google's computational photography is definitely superior to Samsung's and Apple's.

    Surprised to see that the Pixel holds its own here. The great thing is that the standard Pixel 7 is just as good (only has 2x optical zoom instead of 5x), and this one is like 500 EUR/USD right now.

    • @pudinichigo91
      @pudinichigo91 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That 2x zoom they only cropped from 50mp main camera, that not a real 2x optical zoom, Pixel 7 only have 2 lens which is wide camera & ultra wide camera, no telephoto camera

    • @marksouthwell4490
      @marksouthwell4490 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not true optical zoom, just digital or cropped or whatever you like to call it. Pixel 7 doesn't have a dedicated zoom lens

    • @mole1596
      @mole1596 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a 2x crop with OPTICAL quality. That's not the same as 2x digital zoom. On top of all, a 2x crop from the main camera is always going to be better than a 2x lens in low-light. :) Essentially, the Pixel 7 basically has three optical-quality focal lengths, which is pretty much like having three different cameras. :)

      Well technically there is no telephoto lens on pixel 7 so there is no optical zoom. Pro has a dedicated 48 mp telephoto lens. Despite that the digital zoom of pixels is way better than any other brand but pixel pro is on another level. The clarity of zoomed pictures on 7 pro is unmatched even by Galaxy s23 and iPhone 14 pro. It takes really crisp zoomed in images.

    I have the S23, but I prefer the video from the Pixel in this comparison. Even though the stabilization is slightly worse on the Pixel, on the S23 the mountains look kinda over-sharpened. The portrait mode on Google's phone is laughable though. For the rest they're pretty much the same.

    Pixel for me is the smart buy. The reason is that it's placed in between previous and next generation of Samsung's with an attractive price, so it can fight well against s22 and s23 (bit ahead, bit behind) but the prices are what they should be while Samsung just overprice their phones.
    I had s21 ultra and now I'm using pixel 7 pro.
    The main complain about pixel is the overdark photos while in videos is the opposite; something that shows inconsistency between modes and I need to boost shadows in almost every photo I take.

    There is Screen burning issue. Then suddenly after OS 12 upgrade my screen started showing one pink line. Which gradually increased to 5 more lines of different colors. Show I've a rainbow on my display , eventhough my phone didn't drop. You can google it. Samsung gets lots of display issues with OS upgrades. I guess I'll try pixel now. I suspect the Samsung is a little better, which is to say the Pixel was a little bit too contrasty and slightly oversharpened, which at first I preferred. The Samsung looked smooth and more movie-esque, to me. The colour science of the Samsung looked a bit off but then in a couple of scenes the Pixel seemed to have a blue tint.
    I'm guessing that a few minutes spent in post, you could make the footage of both look close to identical.

    Wait a minute, I get all the other ones but in potrait pixel won? Brother, pixel digitaly zooms into the subject and takes the picture for potrait shots. Samsung uses the telephoto to do that. Yes, Samsung does smoothen up the skin, but its manageable. Pixel just overs sharpens it. It is the same story in every reviewer's pov. And turn of the blur amount in the samsung to 2 or 3. Not 6. You'll get far better results.

    • @RedskullPro

      @@RedskullPro I know, there is smoothing effect. It’s is S22 too, which I use, for about 10 months, as a daily driver! So I do know the Samsung way. And I'm totally agreeing with you, that there is skin smoothening. Its in my phone, and looks like it's the same in S23 too. But what I suggested that at least it looks more natural as opposed to the pixel, because pixel just digitally zooms in and take the photo. And do post processing and sharpening with the subject. That's why it's looks a little unnatural that S23. And the blur on S23 is very much high. It's weird to look at. That's why I suggested to keep the blur at 2 or 3, and not 6. Better photo may come out. Also, one thing I forgot to say, the dynamic range. It's more consistent in pixel I think, in potraits. Even in my S22, in potraits, the Dynamic range is good, but sometimes it isn’t consistent. Here I think the same story is reflected. You are a good reviewer brother, and the points you've said was valid. But I was just surprised that you chose pixel. For me that one was more un natural. Even to Samsung too is not that much better

    Since I'm under ACP, I need to go to AT&T because only Metro covers it if I want to stay under the T-Mobile umbrella. But I hear Metro can have your sim locked to your IMEI and I hate that.
    That's why I will never buy another iPhone after the 13s thanks to this esim only nonsense here in the States because I can travel a lot, my native country is mostly prepaid, and I do change from different phones a lot. I carry 2 through 5 phones daily.
    My guess is Samsung won't copy Apple with esim only until next year at earliest. This is why the S23 series intrigues me. I'm not dying to get any of them. It's another damn phone. A giant, boring slab one at that. The excitement getting a new "toy" wore off many years ago. Honeymoon phase. Love it. Get bored with it. Buy another. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
    The main reason why the S23 Ultra is intriguing: Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. From battery tests coming from the Red Magic 8 Pro, it seems Qualcomm might have their best chip since the 835/845 days. The 888 and 8 Gen 1 were very problematic.
    You also need to understand SoCs won't always be efficient every year like it wasn't in 2015, 2021, and early-2022. Qualcomm doesn't always get it right every year once they speed things up. Who knows if Snap 8 Gen 3 sucks? It happens regardless if they use TSMC foundries.
    The most efficient Snapdragon flagship SoCs I've seen were 800, 801, and 835. Snap 8+ Gen 1 and Gen 2 are returning to those years in 2013, 2014, and 2017.
    Android will only get worse with 14 as Google will make it harder to sideload apps. S23U comes with 13 out of the box. Android 13 already made it impossible to downgrade to the previous firmware. Google is becoming more like Apple every day which isn't exactly a good thing. The openness of Android is starting to fade and becoming more restrictive like iOS.
    S23 Ultra should still be the battery king for Samsung since I expect the Fold 5 and Flip 5 will come with smaller batteries like they did previous years. Fold 5 still has to power a bigger internal display and Flip 5 has close to the same screen size as the Ultras but Flip 4 only came with 3700 mAh and not 5000 that the S22U and S23U have.
    So if you want the S-Pen slot (we still don't know if Fold 5 gets it), periscope lens, and the most efficient Samsung flagship, it's really the S23 Ultra. The S23+ might be more efficient but S23U just seems more premium and feature-packed.
    Not many techtubers are mentioning this and instead are saying Samsung is offering terrible trade-in deals this year which is true. But a carrier like AT&T is offering $1000 bill credits if you trade-in any Samsung Galaxy S phone in any condition. It includes other brands like any old Pixel if you want $1000 off.
    Yes, you're stuck with them for 3 years unless you do $6 Next Up every month to be eligible for a new phone after every 18 months. But you're getting $1000 off by trading in your broken Galaxy S3, Pixel 2, or whatever. Check the eligibility of old phones you can trade in on their site.
    $200 S23 Ultra (I want 12 GB RAM)
    $75 minimum contract per month for 3 yrs
    I'll get a $30 discount under ACP and $15 with autopay. My monthly bill should be around $35-$40 per month. The 512 GB being offered has 12 GB RAM by default.
    I'm really considering it. Yeah, it's a boring and heavy slab. I still think S21U looked the best from the back and prefer the rounder edges. But I'm sick and tired charging my Flip 3, Razr 5G, iPhone X, and Pixel 3 every single day. Only my SE 3 gives me good battery life and standby.
    The Flip 5 will be great with a bigger cover display and the same custom Snap 8 Gen 2 but its size and form factor will always limit its battery capacity to less than 5000 mAh the S23U has.
    From other battery tests, I think iPhone 14 Pro Max still beats S23 Ultra by a considerable margin while having a smaller battery nearly 700 mAh less. A16 is still the more efficient chip and iOS is more efficient than Android especially with RAM.
    I'm very frugal how I use my phones. I'll probably turn off 120 Hz and 5G to extend it to 20+ hour SOT if I can get 13+ hours easily on my iPhone SE 3 from Wi-Fi browsing.
    S23 Ultra is the one, folks. Don't bother with Pixel 7 Pro or 8 Pro. Samsung's Exynos chip is just not as efficient as TSMC Snapdragons. And less compatibility with emulators. Resale value on all Pixels is piss poor.
    I wonder if my guy, Michael Fisher, will ever get bored with foldables and go back using a boring slab? I use both since purchasing a few used iPhones and it's really not difficult going back to a slab.
    Maybe this is the year to go back to it if you want the longest battery life from a Samsung phone with DEX support and don't want to deal with a crease while using an S-Pen?
