    I bought a 6 four weeks ago. A white limited. I love this car. I have wanted an electric car since I had a Volt. I was excited when the Tesla model 3 came out, until I saw it person. I didn't like the interior at all. Looked cheap to me. I wanted 300 + miles. When I saw the concept 6, I loved it. When I saw it in person, I just loved it. For me, It has everything everything I wanted. It drives like a dream and the range is true for me.

      The only good thing about the frunk in a Tesla is it's much harder to break in to. Safer than putting things in the main cabin or trunk. But the base models of most electric cars suck. You step up to a performance or long range version and it's so much faster. Tesla's most annoying thing is not having a built in way to block out the glass roof. You block that thing with reflective material or expensive heat deflecting tint and the range on the car goes way up.... Idk glass is cool but it just sucks for insulation.@@marketbuy

    I believe in fair assessments and this is one. Teslas are not and cannot be the only game in town. EV adoption will not occur without competition. No car is without fault and the bottom line is what works best for you. Every car maker should be gunning to make a better product than Tesla. That is the nature of competition. And Tesla should be proud that it has set a standard that everybody compares it to and wants to beat. So I am glad to hear a good review for this product. It will appeal to a certain segment. I have owned a Tesla for several years and still enjoy it as much as when I first purchased it.

    The reason why the Ioniq has a small frunk is because Hyundai decided to emphasize interior room space over frunk space so they put many of the mechanicals i.e. air conditioning electrics within the front. This frees up space to offer more leg room which the presenter demonstrated.

    One thing to say about "auto presenting door handles" is that they all present at once. The negative of that is it increases the risk of damage to the control system in ice and snow and it increases the risk a door won't close because the frozen mechanism is stuck half way in between open and close. I personally have no garage and need to park outside, which in the cold northeast means lots of ice and snow. Tesla M3 & MY are great because the door handle is manual plus it is possible to use the app to pop the door without even using the handle, both of which are very useful when the outside of the car is covered in ice. Not a show-stopper by any means, but in certain use-cases (like mine), it can be a real pain in the A if the door handle gets stuck.

    • @RicoWeigand
      @RicoWeigand 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I‘m pretty sure, Hyundai has considered this circumstance. Furthermore the automatic door mechanism is only available in the two biggest packages. In the smaller ones it works exactly like in the Tesla.

    Living in rural upper midwest area, and the lack of a charging infrastructure other than some Tesla super chargers, road trips are darn hard to many places I want to go. The route planing in the 6 is not nearly as good as the Teslas, and its price is hampered by no tax credit. However, if the charging situation gets better and the route planing software improves I think for me I would go for the 6 over the Tesla M3

    I test drove an ionic 6 recently, I think it is really a fantastic car, but the three things the model 3 has over it is the EV credit, the infotainment, and the acceleration. I think I would still choose the model 3 over it.
    I tried the infotainment in the ionic, its basically unusabally slow still, especially while using maps, so android auto/carplay would be used every single time.

      You basically are forced to get the smaller wheel with the thicker tire for a good ride. But the range complaints haven't ever been a thing for me. The right type of tint or reflective material in the roof to block the heat makes the cars range always do much better than predicted. The camera system sucks the most power though. Hopefully newer CPUs come out and help on that power efficiency front.

    I just went to test drive the Hyundai Ioniq 6 SEL, then the Tesla. For the last 10 years I have driven German (Benz/Porsche). The Hyundai interior wasn’t it for me, although the leg room in the front and back was phenomenal. It felt very “sedan”, I like more of a sporty feel. It did have an amazing feature where the car can back in and out to “self-park” by pushing a button on the key fob. The price tag on this HYUNDAI is $58K, with a $5K rebate from the dealer. Then I went to Tesla, and there just isn’t a comparison IMO. The technology, speed, battery range, and charging network is far superior. Tesla has just been in the game so much longer, they are light years ahead in many facets. I agree Interior is “basic”, which is an adjustment for me since I have driven cars with so many buttons and lights you feel like you are in a cockpit. 😂 The final decision maker is the fact that with rebates/tax credits it is CHEAPER than the IONIQ. My Porsche Macan has had $5K in repairs/maintenance this year already, not including gas. Looking forward to making the switch.

    Did my first road trip in it this weekend Las Vegas Nv to elko nv thru Utah.
    About 640mi there and 640mi back.
    Going the speed limit in gas car is just over 9hr.
    I drove it in 9.5sh but also got 2 speeding tickets, but the range was actually amazing. And resting during chargers is great.
    Will not be speeding like that on any other road trip for sure.

    The Ioniq is very attractive. I just wish it were more efficient. Just saw Bjorn do some range testing and it isn't as efficient at the Model 3. But then again it is a bigger car and heavier than the Tesla. It seems like it is quiet, well made, but has some rough edges they need to sort out. Battery conditioning and some other things appear to not be quite figured out. The Model 3 needs to sort out the suspension to be more comfortable. I like the mix of controls in the Hyundai's with both screens and buttons/controls for common access things. Well done Hyundai. It seems like a very well made car. Tesla isn't as refined or as luxurious as the Hyundai's.

    • @michaelcollier8768
      @michaelcollier8768 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The efficiency ratings on Bjorn's tests were close between the Tesla M3 lr and the RWD Ionic 6. The differences could easily have been made by the temp difference (9 degrees vs 25 degrees) and the headwind. Bjorn is good but, unless it's head to head on the same day and same conditions, there will be environmental factors. Given those factors, the cars are very very close in efficiency, if not equal.

      The Ioniq 6 trunk is almost half the size of the Model 3 trunk.
      The Ioniq 6 frunk is much less than half the size of the Model 3 frunk.
      Ioniq 6 total cargo volume is less than half the Model 3 total cargo volume.
      The Ioniq 6 passenger volume is smaller than the Model 3 passenger volume.
      So the Ioniq 6 is bigger on the outside and heavier. That does no one any good.

    If Tesla had more analog buttons it would be a clear front runner. My argument is that the “simplicity” of only having a screen is actually counterintuitive because your eyes are constantly glued to the screen. With a traditional car, sure there are a lot of buttons, but it quickly becomes second nature and you never have to look when doing things like AC or wipers

    • @John101B
      @John101B 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It does take longer time to get used to them, but the touch screens too become second nature given enough time. You end up leaning one of your finger either at the top edge or the bottom edge and slide around. It now only takes a small fraction of a second to "press" any buttons, just as it has been for my BMW X3 which of course, are physical buttons. One thing you should never do, is to hang your finger in the air and press "buttons" like an arrow hitting the target... That's much harder.
      Plus is that they can create new "buttons" or change layout for the better without changing your car...

      I don't agree. I own a Nissan Leaf and the only buttons I regularly use are windows and volume/temp dials. When I actually want to do something I don't normally do, I have to waste a lot of time fiddling with buttons and it'd be very dangerous to do while driving (and actually ends up being wasted time at the start of my trip). It's not second-nature and it never has been with any car I've owned. Now that I really stop and think about it, I look for literally every button I push. So no, I'm fine with having to look over at a tablet and tap an icon to do something, or press a button on the wheel easily within reach and say a command. Sounds a hell of a lot easier than muscle-memorizing a bunch of physical buttons (which I never will do based on previous car experience).
      Do people honestly actually control all their physical buttons by muscle memory? Sounds insane to me. Maybe next time you drive, you should consider whether you're taking a quick peek to verify your AC button is where it has always been (just like how someone would take a quick peek at a Tesla screen). So silly to me you think their eyes would be "constantly glued to the screen".

    Both good choices. Hyundai is probably more comfortable, because of the smoother ride. More performance and range with a Model 3. The AWD Tesla has 353 vs. 270 for the AWD Hyundai. Also, zero to 60 on the Tesla LR is 4.2, or 3.7 with boost. Don't miss lack of Apple car play in my Tesla. Tesla road trip experience is likely better due to a superior public charging network. If I lived in Arizona, and owned a Tesla, I would definitely purchase the sunshade for the glass roof.

      The ioniq 6 AWD long range SE model has 316 miles of range. Everyone here also seems to forget that the Hyundai charges faster than the Tesla by close to 50%; I've seen many real world tests of it going from 10 to 80% and around 18 minutes on electrify America chargers at Walmarts even though according to Tesla owners they don't exist and no one can ever use them anywhere.
      0 to 60 I believe is around 4.8 seconds so not too bad.
      I've seen both cars in person and the Hyundai is hands down superior and fit and finish and just an overall luxury feel and attention to detail. I'm 6'4 and when I took it for a test drive it was no problem and it is smooth and quiet I believe it also has double pane glass in all the windows.

    I was surprised when he said he'd want the Ioniq for a road trip. Must be a lot of options there for the charge network. I know first hand how bad that network can be. I feel like I'm gambling every time I drive out of town. Will it be available? Will it be up and running? We'll see.
    I'm not sold on this being better than Model 3. It seems like the one advantage is ride quality, and I've yet to ride in a Model 3 so I don't know how much that really would matter to me. I feel like I wouldn't want to trade a bunch of bonuses for ride quality. Feels to me like this owner is just enjoying Cult of the New and being hyped over his new car. Would've been nice to see comparisons to things like responsiveness of the GPS or if you have to set up one-pedal driving every time like the Ioniq 5 does (which is a deal-breaker for me). Maybe unique things he misses when he drives each car from what the other has.

      A lot of these reviewers keep leaving out the fact that the Hyundai charges almost 50% faster than the Tesla. 10-80 in 18 minutes with a 350 kw charger. There are lots of videos of people doing it on TH-cam at electrify America stations.

      How often can you get to a charge station that is 350kW and available? I doubt it's often. Certainly not around me.

    I don't use the frunk day to day either, but I stuff all the charge cables, first aid kit and stuff that I rarely use in there because it wastes space in the actual massive boot. The Tesla door handles don't confuse me, because its my car, but they still suck badly. The two tone looks crappy. The software ware in the Ioniq is terrible. No supercharger network. The best part of the Hyundai is that its got that standard toughness that a regular car has, along with the FRAMED doors. Prefer the window controls on the door. I'd still buy a Tesla again at this stage, but Tesla really needs to start adding features like cooled seats, seat heater buttons for the rear etc etc. The Hyundai has black headliner, and it looks very cool, I hate that the Model 3 and Y do not have this as an option.
