  • Wanted to show everyone how I intend to get my new DIY camper in and out of my garage. It’s difficult to tell in the video, but my driveway has quite a severe slope to it, so I need to winch in and out to get it hooked up to my trailer. Pretty simple install using 3/8 concrete lag screws.

Nice install. But love those little wooden ramps with angled edge and little step up. Thanks for sharing your project!

The trailer is looking awesome. I’ve been looking at winches as well for pulling logs on my trailer.

Thank you sir! Might want to check out the ZEAK 5500lb winch w/ steel cable I had before I upgraded to this 10000lb one. It was a nice winch and priced fairly.

That is “unconventional” alright. I used to have a truck with hitch ball mounted on the front; was able to push a tent trailer up a steep driveway and into a tight side yard. Looks brilliant mate!

Cable capacity should always exceed the winch capacity or it could break simply under the load of the winch. It is good that the cable has twice the load compared to the winch.

Makes perfect sense now that I actually use my brain and think about it! Thanks

Hey, are the bolts that bolt the cradle to the winch no raising the cradle off the ground?

What are you using to power the winch?

You made the same mistake everyone else does. You mounted it straight to the floor. You should have mounted it to a winch cradle and bolted a bumper hitch receiver to the floor. also use drop in anchors. Why? Because if you ever need to use the winch elsewhere, all you have to do is pull the pin and take it out of the receiver. Mount it on a truck or whatever. And of course if you ever need to replace the winch, take it off and put it on a bench.

You never showed how you mounted the winch on the plate.

I just used the holes on the winch itself and bolted to the plate.
