      Flight-sim level documentation and innovative, possibly adaptive, AI. Rules reflecting real life race series. An automated setup engineer and in-race engineer. Physics and FFB in all top sims are good enough, lets have some innovation in other areas.

      proper damage model and better tire model that is not as understeery as it is today. I can drive a car at 50-70km/h in the game and it understeers like crazy when it should not as it does not do it irl. Oh, yeah I want more street/trackday focused cars as well and not more pure race cars.

      But other than collision physics (which translates to kerbs), AC2 can hardly beat AC1's physics and ffb.
      AC1 is the most intuitive driving sim on the market where car slides, tire skidding and slip angle is naturally correctable and not peaky like in iRacing or AMS2.

    Road cars with close-to-realistic physics (and all the road car mods as well as free roam track mods) are what brought me to Assetto Corsa. I rarely go for competitive gaming in AC, and I ignored the career mode completely.
    So what do I do there? Fire up Assetto Corsa, pick my car of the day - be it SLS Black, 991.2 GT3, 458 Speciale or whatever, and go for a drive all by myself. AC and its extensive modding communities gave me a chance to live a dream that I will likely never manage to make true, letting me to escape the bitter reality of life as a poor little sod and just... drive. 5:40 i dont toally agree on this, i agree its weird that assetto would just plop the zonda r in the game, and nothing comes close to it so you can technically only race it among itself. But i feel like one of the biggest appeal of assetto is just taking a car in its purest form and seeing how hard you can push yourself, or driving against different cars fast or slow on a different track or road. A lot of people just want to hop on and drive a Ferrari f12 berlinetta on a UK back road with rain and light traffic, just vibing to the engine sound and the design of the car and the stunning cockpit. Assetto succeeded because it had everything anyone would want instead of just good racing.

    seconding, thirding, etc. what many other have already said. There is no way for AC2 to deliver what AC1 has in terms of content.
    But the one mod that has been keeping Assetto Corsa alive all this time, more than any other, is Custom Shaders Patch and all the updates it has delivered to the original game despite its age and probably engine limitations. This is where Kunos could seriously deliver. With a newly ground up built game they have the chance to offer much of CSP's feature set and even go beyond that. They can set what will even be possible within AC2 and that brings a lot of potential for the fidelity of the simulation.
    Stuff like changing weather conditions are still a little rough in AC even with the newest CSP previews installed. Would be cool to see an expanded weather system in the sequel.

    Considering there's rumors swirling around that x4fab is working closely with the developers of Kunos to make it mod friendly, IF that rumor turns out to be true then i can bet my money AC2 will absolutely beat AC1 at some point, this on top of what of Kunos already implemented by default on the base game could potentially skyrocket the franchise if executed right. I can imagine just the possibilities with mapping itself being expanded and amazing things being done with the updated engine, something like Shutoko but double or tiple the size of that.

    Great video Random.
    I have something I want to say and this will probably be controversial since most people play and treat AC like a hardcore sim....
    In all honesty, the biggest thing I want to see in AC2 is the ability to mod not just the cars and tracks, but the fundamental physics of the game. Right now, we have tons of car mods that all drive a bit differently but the underlying physics remain grounded in reality and very "sim-like".As a big fan of arcade racers such as Initial D, Wangan Midnight, Ridge Racer, etc, for AC2 I want modders to be able to mod the physics and take them completely to the arcade extreme.
    For example, if we get Touge tracks based on Initial D in AC2, I want to be able to drive an AE86 that behaves exactly like the one in Sega's arcade game. Meaning exaggerated drifting with minimal loss of grip while retaining the same over the top arcade sense of speed found in Initial D. Same goes for other mods based on arcade games. For example, we have SRP in AC, but none of the cars drive and behave like the ones in Wangan Midnight.
    Imagine if we could get actual physics in AC2 where we can drive around a new SRP but with the same over the top WMMT arcade physics? THAT would be incredible and something I would be extremely happy to see in the new game.
    Anyone else feel this way?

    A weird idea just occurred to me. In order for AC2 to be successful we need:
    1- AC2 to be totally free of cost for users so that everyone downloads it, like CS:GO, Fortnite or PUBG mobile.
    2- some major super rich corporations (like Google or something) to donate tens of millions of $ to Konus, so that they have unlimited budget and unlimited staff.

    A great Online Multiplayer would be good. Maybe an even better one than ACC and with ranking etc. And then an integrated ingame Mod Menu to buy or get cars/tracks for free. And also compatibility with some AC1 Mods would be nice. But racedep etc will stay so that optional mod menu ingame is just for accessibility on other platforms. This would also make life much easier because some people may not trust any link for some cars or tracks

    AC1 is my main sim. I race in a league that almost exclusively uses it. However the league also relies on mods. So mods will need to be available before I can completely migrate.
    AC1 is alao missing a LOT of features and has some areas where the physics aren't the best (abs feels weird). If AC2 can fill this gap while keeping the mod support then I think people will switch to it.

    Assetto corsa is a playground a sandbox for casual gamers, assetto corsa 2 should be a new playground where modders can play around stuff again and improve it because sometimes the modding scene can make a lot of stuff/crazy ideas for free or cheap where kunos can get that idea and use it to improve the game, the experience, and appearance of the game, i didn't imagine that assetto corsa will be in this state where it looks a lot more polished and realistic than the new racing simulator games released

    Maybe, just maybe, the reason AC is so popular is that it is not a game with strict progressions. It is a free spirit racing sim with well thought out ways to mod its content. I don't even really like racing, especially online against ultra competitive humans. The AC AI isn't very good but the content is glorious if you like fantasizing about driving cars. I am assuming that AC2 will be more of a game because that is where the market and profit is perceived to be. So be it! AC1 will still be there for people like me.

    We know Asseto Corsa is the go to sim for most of not all Professional Racing team simulators. Hopefully Kunos have asked for some data from all the teams running it so that we can get a more accurate to life game. We know those teams themselves go into the game code and tweak things to make it better closer to life. AC2 might be the next best thing in the market if they also get the multiplayer/completion mode in order.
    Also I don’t feel they would be taking anything from ACC because ACC is a dead game on Console. Cross platform will be a must with at least Xbox so that PC players could still play with mods. But what if they added a mod feature like Farm simulator to the console feature that gets updated mods with new updates ???

    AC2 could follow the smart path and not go against AC but complement it so implement new physic model, new graphic, new Ai, new damage model but support all AC1 existing mods, that will make a smooth transition and keep the best of both titles. The modding community side can be ported to AC2, what makes AC1 unbeatable is the Content Manager (not the CSP as a standard AC2 graphic will be better ) . CM has no gimmicks but lot of feature like open and race, drive presets that allow you to make yearly based seasons with all tracks and cars per race which is very useful for real life motorsport fans that want to try a specific combo during the real race week end , the most customizable championship editor, etc... no other sim racing title has this level of depth. It's among the reasons why AC players give more hours to it. All new sim devs should take inspiration from CM, imho it should be the standart for all sim titles. About the career mod, what is more and more clear is that bigger the title is better is the career mod. It's a kind of priviledge for bigger studios Forza, GT, F1 EA, etc. None of the actual sim has a decent career mode. As it's all or nothing ( cinematic production, creative progression, story telling...) I wouldn't even ask it from them, and encourage them to focus on other area like physics, AI etc.

    AC2 will thrive on console if it’s a decent sim with variety.
    As of now there is no current gen console racing sim with variety. Forza Motorsport and GT7 are the nearest.
    Last sim with decent variety on console was Project Cars 2.
    Whether AC2 will be a hit on PC is a bigger gamble. Needs LFM/iRacing matched racing to get AC/ACC/iRacing players to come across.
    Then modding for those seeking LOTS of variety.

  • @EthanDean57
    @EthanDean57 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I don't think there's any filling the shoes of AC 1. We saw the same with rFactor; rFactor 1 was the absolute king for modding and racing for over a decade. rFactor 2 came out, and while it hasn't exactly failed, in my eyes it hasn't been a patch on its predecessor's legacy. Instead, AC came along and became the "spiritual rFactor 2."
    Thing is though, in retrospect it was easy to improve upon rFactor 1 in the ways AC has. But in a Moore's Law type of situation, AC is looking damn near photoreal and the crazy shit packed into the Custom Shaders Patch is nothing short of phenomenal. Window fog you can draw in, satnav systems, there's even fucking fully working solar eclipses if you set the date and time correctly. Where the hell can we go from here? Theoretically you can migrate all that stuff, but it's done so well with CSP and Pure that at this point it's like reinventing the wheel.
    I really feel like AC 1 is the endgame for the "sandbox" sim. I don't see where to go other than "AC 2" being a codename for another ACC-type sim for another series. I'm open to being surprised, though, because it's not like anyone saw any of this coming when AC was little more than a tech demo with a Lotus Elise at Magione.

    • @alessiobaruzzo1679
      @alessiobaruzzo1679 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      AC demo did something to me that rF couldn't do: make me drive for the sake of driving, and not for training for a race.
      Anyway, in my vision, AC2 can win on simplicity. It doesn't need *all* the features that mods brought on AC, but needs a good package from the get go, especially where the first game lacked (single player, AI, weather condition and day/night cycle).
      I remember well how ISI tried to have more control on the mods, basically killing the rF modding scene. I can only hope Kunos will take a look and avoid these mistakes, but there isn't a perfect formula.

  • @UltraVarietyChannel
    @UltraVarietyChannel 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Will AC2 be my main sim? Its as simple as if the overall experience is better.
    That being said, AC1 doesn't have the best physics, but it by far has the most content because of mods. If AC2 has better physics and AI, with rain and night already incorporated, and a less restricted engine, the base game will already be better than AC1's base game.
    If its reasonably easy to port AC1 modded content to AC2, and reasonably easy to MAKE modded content, then eventually AC2 will have more content and it will likely be my main sim.
    A less restricted engine with better optimization for giant maps, with improvements Ilya made with CSP already incorporated means that it's just a straight upgrade. That means we'll get maps like SRP in AC2 eventually. I'm sure AC2 will be better optimized for having huge car counts too. AC1 starts tanking my FPS with more than 30 cars, so hopefully AC2 will be able to pull off a full Le Mans grid.
    I guess the last question would be a way to add traffic. That's a big thing for a lot of players as it made AC1 a substantially better DRIVING sim.
    Realistically, AC2 can't add cars that behave like traffic cause of licensing issues. Manufacturers don't really like seeing their cars being street raced all that much. So it would have to be added by modders. Unless Kunos secretly adds traffic behaviour systems that are unused in the base game lol.
    If it doesn't have VR support, I'll buy it and play it, but it likely won't be my main sim, as AC1 still is by no means bad. But without VR I don't think the experience will be as good. I don't have room for triple screens and VR is constantly getting better.
    Also bonus points if they add a career mode with an actual economy. I firmly believe racing sims are in desperate need of GT style career modes. Even if its a GT lite one without upgrades. Something more like Gran Turismo PSP, I would be happy with. Especially if its easy to incorporate modded content and make your own championships and events.

    I think it will be a Skyrim and Skyrim: Special Edition situation. At first there was some resistance, but the 64 bit support was too much to ignore and modding has moved to Special Edition.
    Assetto Corsa is great, but the mod community had to brute force tons of features that are more common now, with big performane penalties. If the baseline of AC2 is better, with night racing and weather support from the start, the sim quality is equally good and has good mod support, players will make the jump.

    I would like to have this integrated, with a direct clic-to-pay to them(i hate to have to pay in different patreons, and download .zips froms blogs like it is 2010.) Also never know if everything is running properly.
    This will made the migration really quicly, a good and deserved source of income for the modders and also for kunos, which should give total support to modders.
    This with a better sound + better online/ranked iracing style and AC2 will be forever.

  • @ICKY427
    @ICKY427 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    ac2 needs to be a good base for modding. the physics, weather, lighting, sound, ui, modes, launcher, all need to be on point and require no modding. all the community should have to do is model tracks and cars (or rather, import all the content thats been created over the last decade for ac1). on top of that, modding should be even more comprehensive than ac1. for example, im pretty sure theres like 10 people on the planet that actually understand all the parameters in tyre.ini. even kunos got a lot of it wrong in some stock content. that needs to change. im not saying the physics needs to be simplified, but tools like the tire creator in CM are a big help in making mods that arent garbage. stuff like that will help us create content that will actually be balanced and usable.
    aside from that, online needs to be good. take what they learned from acc and make a system that would actually make people reconsider iracing. also i hope they dont go overboard with the graphics. it doesnt NEED to be any more detailed than we have now. if it comes out and no one but 4000-series gpu users can run it then theres no point.

    A lot of vintage and single car class racing, Vintage as I am sure the licenses would be much easier to obtain and single car series as the BOP would not be an issue and concentration could be focused on realistic performance behavior of a single model and for the racing all drivers would be on an even playing field as far as platform.
    The racing could even have different levels of setup as to none allowed base setup for all vehicles to the full monty in adjustments giving all racers what they prefer.
    But having really fun and entertaining sim quality racing series bot AI and on-line is important to keeping players coming back for more.
    Also the content and addition of new cars and racing series along with tracks in DLC will keep the game fresh as well

  • @shredd5705

    Hot take.... I want AC2 to be a street car game like Test Drive Unlimited, but super realistic. No circuits. Just open roads with traffic that follows real traffic laws. Real or fantasy roads.
    Otherwise it's nothing new, just another Spa-Silverstone-Monza game. ACC has still legs as a serious racing sim, why make a competitor for that. Better to make something different than other sims, there's so many similar circuit sims already but none like this. Imagine street racing in realistic roads in TDU style. Realistic police chases (minus shooting you) and damage. Include some circuits as DLC but make road racing the center piece, and single player around that in TDU style. Acquire cars, by winning money from street races. (With no stupid arrow signs telling where to turn)
    Open roads and traddic mods are already popular in AC1 with CSP. Street cars were the strong point of AC1, we don't need another game with incomplete racing classes, or 1-2 cars per class again... rather have everything be street cars, and own it. Do something different for once, in the forever-stagnant sim racing world.
    People need to be more open minded.. lots of sim racers liked TDU2. But it has never been done with proper physics. Never. Now could be the time. Why do you people want another dry circuit racer, with the same circuits over and over again... I need a change of pace. I would love Forza Horizon too, if it wasn't designed for kids, and the handling was better.
    And hire Ilja and the CSP people... yes they hacked the AC code, but still, they did it for the better of community and better of AC. They have skill that needs to be hired.

      Then it has potential, Problem is AC runs on amazing on current hardware and modded out in VR or 4K visually it beats out every sim at present and compared to the big say 4 sims it drives great still. Ihope it is great when it lands but it has to be as open and have a great game engine (looking at UE4 ACC wrong choice) then it's got a chance. @@randomcallsign

    With Competitzione they killed VR side i think. While VR is good in AC, in Competizione it is so bad. For VR Ams2 beats all.

    I know the question is not for the topic, but which are the two tracks presented in the video - the one with the japanese landscape and the one with the miatas?
