As a CV, your main goal is to strike ships that are alone. I get you don't like Haku's torps and i admit she is probably underpowered right now, but the main problem you did was losing too much planes. Again - attack those ships, you can strike with low losses, not those, that you want to strike because of CC vying. :)
wouldn't it have been wiser to act like a force multiplier and flush (preferably isolated) enemies that are trying to stay in cover/stealth from allied ships. preferably as close as possible to the carrier as to reduce risk of line penetration and lower travel times.
Zoup some good advice here, I agree with this one. Also the aiming circle for dive bombers were handled poorly the entire match. Line up, press attack, DO NOT MOVE at all until circle is focused, then move and bomb -> better hit ratio.
Pro tip, Zoup. If you drop a couple runs of bombs, rockets, or torpedoes into an island before you start attacking for real, you won't lose those planes when you go through AA. It's like having smaller squads like a low tier CV, except without any of the user-friendliness.
When you DB a ship at a perpendicular angle and finish the run, you must then turn out and get behind the ship and line up parallel for the 2nd strike. Then, you will be better positioned to do more damage. Rinse and repeat after each wave / strike. I not only do this with DBs but I also practice this with TBs. You do not always have time to line up for that perfect strike. The best thing to do is go ahead and drop the first round of bombs / torpedoes as more of a distraction to throw them off and then line up better on the next wave =).
I don't know if anyone is following this thread lately but i have a question .... when do you press T to launch fighters ..... is that just for defense of the CV itself ? From attacking planes or ships? Can't find much help on using a CV.
For what it's worth, sometimes I think that dropping torps in the tightest possible spread isn't always the best idea. Sure, if you're good and you know your TBs' torp spreads and speeds well, tight is fine. But sometimes, it's not such a bad idea to drop with a little wider spread. You may not get as many hits, but you might also increase the chances of getting at least 1-2, rather than 0.

I was one shot killed in a bismark by the Midway. first ship killed in that game, legandary secondaries with full AA build did nothing to help. I think it is going to hurt the game overall. I know people who quit because of dealing with carriers.
2 thing s I noticed in the video: 1) you outplayed the enemy CV at least and that's always a bit of a booster in my opinion. If I'm on a losing team, I at least try to outplay my counterpart. I can then walk away with a "consolation prize", so to speak. 2) When running your dive bombers in, hold down the S key and reduce their speed in the pop-up manoeuvre. Watch what happens to the aim sight. You'll get a better grouping of your drop if you slow the bombers down. In a Hakuryu game I had a few days ago, I was getting 3-4 citadel hits at once by doing this. Anyway, that's just what I noticed. As for the Hakuryu being not a great ship to play, I would agree in most aspects. It looks to me though as WG want the main focus of all CVs to be on their Dive Bombers. That's where I get the bulk of my damage with them. Torpedo damage is anaemic at best unless you can land every torpedo.
I never look at who I am playing against. I treat them all alike. I do check the skill of my own DDs so I know what I can expect for consistent spotting and if he will die leaving me blind. Then plan accordingly. I killed Notser and other CCs many times and never knew until the end.
Actually, I disagree. The first rule of warfare (and games are no different) is to "Kill the biggest thing you can." Both you and your team had divided focus, hitting targets of opportunity, rather than focusing your fire, hoping to whittle someone down rather than going for determinate kills through concentrated fire.
CV potential damage for a match is currently nearly only a 3rd of what other ship classes have and Hakuryu has been over nerfed atm so 75k is not a bad game by a long shot. If you continue to play Hakuryu try the other faster shorter range torps. The 8km torps are to slow for their arming distance and almost useless from stealth ranges. Even Battleships with giant turning circles and slow rudders easily dodge them. Don't really understand why WG wants Hakuryu to even think about stealth torping because at this point is is useless.
being in the back with a long range cruiser isn't really anything special, and being in the back is generally safe as it implies having allies in front of you doing the spotting, capping and drawing the attention. it becomes a problem when everyone wants to be the safe person in the back and you have none pushing the front. taking on the good players and removing the danger is a smart but risky move, as going after a good player would imply that you have the tools to do so without getting yourself killed by said good player...especially when you are not playing an aircraft carrier and the enemy good player has the chance to shield himself or return fire. also keep in mind the time it takes to go after a priority target, you are not just removing him from the fight if you manage to kill him, you are effectively removing yourself from the fight for the duration you are actually trying to do so. ...sometimes it would be better to remove 3-4 weak players in the time it would take you to tie down the good player. the odds of taking out a good player..if you win the kill race...improves as the numbers are in your favor.
Best damage that Hakuryu dive bombers can do is 25,5k damage if ALL THREE BOMBS land into the citadel! You will be fucking lucky to be always landing a SINGLE AP bomb into citadel. Not even to mention that *AP bombers are useless against DD's!* Hakuryu is supposed to be a torpedo CV kinda like whole IJN thing is good torps, but currently Hakuryu has the worst torps and it cannot burn down enemy ships like Midway can with its HE bombers. You get usually much higher alpha strike with Midway's HE bombers plus set on 1-2 fires at the same time! *Hakuryu is currently a very bad CV that needs some buffs to its torpedoes, at minimum WG should give back the 50knot speed to the Hakuryu 8km torps!*
Not to mention other tiers. I really do think that tiers 4-6 are the most balanced and interesting. But do we EVER get any videos about those tiers? Hardly.
Right.... you can't let your idol hang out in the back until he sites opportunities to sneak up and steal a kill every now and then. Probably avoiding AA and just take out the enemy ships with the lowest health at any given time. I promise you that's what Notser did.
You really need to start doing throwaway drops, Zoup. Sending 12 planes to their death for one strike, due to how AA damage spreads over your whole squad, just doesn't do anything.
After looking at the game from Notser's point of view, I think you may be a bit too hard on yourself. While you probably could have aimed better, your team ultimately lost the game due to caps. Had the Shima's pushed East, instead of North, Notser would have had to push into a crossfire. Your Missouri also disconnected, giving Notser free damage against your dds. Under the circumstances, you did well.
Spotting is so important, and as usual you did that well. But your team has to react. Your Shima is playing footsie with a top tier cruiser driven by a well-known community contributor while your Missouri is desperately trying to get the cap that your team desperately needs to win. In Domination, if your destroyers and particularly smoke cruisers will not play the objective it is almost impossible to win.
Lot of fangirls over here flaming one guy, and licking the ass of the one that made the video... Zoup is right, IN THIS GAME, Notser was the biggest threat, why? Easy, 5 kills (and top in xp, and we all know how WG rewards xp in this game) that's 5 less ships for your team, just by one guy, and he did it without even risking his own HP. If Zoup would focus or harrased Notser since the beginning, there is no way he could get those 5 kills, and that could end in more ships for your team, more ships to turn over the caps, and finally winning the game.
"Going after the most dangerous opponent" is a terrible strategy. I cannot count the number of times I have baddy-baited the enemy team into making terrible plays just by making my (pre-0.8cv)'s location known to the enemy. They would drop everything they were doing, turn, beeline to my location... as long as I didn't sail in straight lines and constant speeds, no BB with a maxrange shell travel time of 20 seconds was going to have any type of reliable accuracy on me. All the while, the other 11 guys on my team, who may not *technically* have been as high a win% as I was, would be capping points and getting free shots at targets that weren't firing back. Which was fine by me, I'm after the W, not topping damage charts. By all means, if they make themselves a target, then focus-fire them as hard as anyone else in the game. But most "high value" targets, Jingles especially, knows that if you are identified in game, your best play is to find your biggest grouping of ships, and stick with them (preferably 3-5km behind them). If you can bait the enemy into going for you with maxrange shots (or wasting carrier time with cross-map attacks) while the rest of your team gets easy, closer-range shots, then you've done your job, even if your damage numbers aren't excessive. Notser's ship doesn't get any more damage or penetration than any other ship. What makes them good is that they know how to NOT make themselves easy targets while being effectively positioned.
When we do clan drops, it always winds up that we kill each other first before other ships. Counting coup is good, but we also know each other's strengths and weaknesses. Plus it's fun to have the after battle conversation on Discord.
The dive bombers need more relay for there attack the circle isn't good its too wide for your dive bombs. And the Japanese torp bombers torps need more lead, way more coz of all the f****** nerfs
Notser also uploaded this game, perhaps post a link here, so you can see his side, and watch 2 of my fave cc's differing perspectives. Thanks again Zoup for posting content, being a dd main I appreciate both you and Notser's work.
Don't blame yourself. Look at how the players simply refused to change what they were doing based on all the sightings and mini-map in the first minutes. That's the real reason for most losses .. random teams of people who have learned nothing on how to really play and win and they sit there with smiles on their faces doing dumb things making mistakes and they just don't care. Because with random game they'll still be in wins 46% of the timedespite their poor skills as enough good players carry them over and over and over.
holy shit man...u always turn around when u dive bomb...try to not change direction much...and if u have to, only a bit with the mouse only. u got huge dispersion because of that
sorry but trying to focus on an OP player or OP ship tends to be bad all around. While you were busy trying to kill noster he was able to force the win so.... As a CV your job should have been as follows...Recon, Dd harassment/ killing then cordinated support( vulturing weakened ships). I expected better from you.
Honestly this game even though I just got it a few days ago this is horrible advice. I come from a game called battle stations midway let me tell you. If someone is in the back of the map let him sit there. Sink the rest of his fleet then destroy the guy in the back. If you do have someone like that send the DD's destroyers after him. I cant tell you how many BB's battleships I've killed with my destroyers. In one game alone I killed 3 battleships with my destroyer. You destroy the biggest threat to your ship a battleship across the map not a concern a destroyer doing flank speed at you problem.
This game has gotten so complete and utterly shit in the last few months that it's not even worth playing anymore. Pretty much everything about the game is broken. You can only do well unless you've bought and played they latest premium ship before they nerf it to make way for the next premium OP ship and and if you make any kind of complaint to WG they nerf your game and ban you from making comments even if you haven't made any in game comments. What the actual Fuck? Ever since I requested information about my own account which they refused to give me until i said i would show the conversation to my youtuber friends I have been constantly banned from commenting in game. Seems like from all the other stuff I've seen with WarGaming lately they are on a mission to GET WOKE GO BROKE

I was one shot killed in a bismark by the Midway. first ship killed in that game, legandary secondaries with full AA build did nothing to help. I think it is going to hurt the game overall. I know people who quit because of dealing with carriers.
2 thing s I noticed in the video:
1) you outplayed the enemy CV at least and that's always a bit of a booster in my opinion.
So..... how do you tell if an enemy is a 'great' player or not?
Try and drop your AP bombs a little higher for more Cits. Unless they changed that mechanic.
All experts here feel free to do your own guide, this worked for me.
Yeah, autopilot is weird. Had 2 CV's in a game following the same path. Looked like a weird mating ritual.
being in the back with a long range cruiser isn't really anything special, and being in the back is generally safe as it implies having allies in front of you doing the spotting, capping and drawing the attention. it becomes a problem when everyone wants to be the safe person in the back and you have none pushing the front.
taking on the good players and removing the danger is a smart but risky move, as going after a good player would imply that you have the tools to do so without getting yourself killed by said good player...especially when you are not playing an aircraft carrier and the enemy good player has the chance to shield himself or return fire. also keep in mind the time it takes to go after a priority target, you are not just removing him from the fight if you manage to kill him, you are effectively removing yourself from the fight for the duration you are actually trying to do so. ...sometimes it would be better to remove 3-4 weak players in the time it would take you to tie down the good player. the odds of taking out a good player..if you win the kill race...improves as the numbers are in your favor.
If you have Midway play it never chose Haku over it. No contest Haku is simply pointless now until they can help it in a few months.
Yet another Tier 10 game, SMH.
Did you know that there are other CVs out there?
Not to mention other tiers. I really do think that tiers 4-6 are the most balanced and interesting. But do we EVER get any videos about those tiers? Hardly.
Could you give me a quick definition of "Nerfs"? I bought some for my kids, but I am sure you are talking about smth. different ;)
never heard of IJN Hakuryu i thought its Shinano
I miss the "I love this and if you don't then your wrong " vids =(
Lol... Noster posted the other side of this video. That’s hilarious.
Right.... you can't let your idol hang out in the back until he sites opportunities to sneak up and steal a kill every now and then.
Notser is under the impression he owned you
Lot of fangirls over here flaming one guy, and licking the ass of the one that made the video...
Of course richelieu is in trouble. They always are
Man I can't wait until they add carriers to counsel, don't have PC 😤
What makes them good is that they know how to NOT make themselves easy targets while being effectively positioned.
anyone know of a very active clan, discord group or etc who would play with someone who just started the game, world of warships/tanks/even aviation
Am I the only CV player that goes for the other enemy CV’s cuz I feel like I am lol
But.... if I kill the CC I won't be in their youtube video.....
Notser also uploaded this game, perhaps post a link here, so you can see his side, and watch 2 of my fave cc's differing perspectives. Thanks again Zoup for posting content, being a dd main I appreciate both you and Notser's work.
Notser is famous. But what about others - do you advocate the use of some Mod that reveals everyone's WR % ?? ??
That's why I said IJN CV is Broken
gg ; )
Don't blame yourself. Look at how the players simply refused to change what they were doing based on all the sightings and mini-map in the first minutes. That's the real reason for most losses .. random teams of people who have learned nothing on how to really play and win and they sit there with smiles on their faces doing dumb things making mistakes and they just don't care. Because with random game they'll still be in wins 46% of the timedespite their poor skills as enough good players carry them over and over and over.
holy shit man...u always turn around when u dive bomb...try to not change direction much...and if u have to, only a bit with the mouse only. u got huge dispersion because of that
LOL noster is a good player best joke 2019
Dear friend, please make the subtitles in Russian. It would be very interesting to watch and understand your videos. ☺️👍🏻
the amount of time you said notser makes me believe you got flamed for focusing him and you had to make a video about it to cover with some excuse
The Spread of the DBs is often way to bad, that needs some training ;)
Hakuryu is garbage ever since super nerf hammer.
Notser is average
ahahaha
NOTSER vs YOU?
maybe when u in cv...
sorry but trying to focus on an OP player or OP ship tends to be bad all around.
Japanese planes in general is like a paper planes... WG logic there... Kaga planes are the best at that!! I hate WG logic!
The way ur saying notser notser notser is too much I think u wanted to show off that u have killed him come on mate am not a biased guy but the way ur saying says it all
is sorta funny that this cv is banned from cbs ! next time dont worry about who your fighting but y you are fighting!
didnt notice this was from 2019 lol love you zoup
Voice over gameplay 👎 and the only reason Notser was such a big threat was because you wouldn't stop thinking about him.
Excuses are strong in this one. Almost as bad as fem lol.
fem the speak.impedment glorified cc oh yea shes so good
Poor notser!
Thumb down for playing cv.
Lol playing a underpowered piece of trash CV.
Thumbs down for you being a troll.
