My favorite piece of trivia is missing. While filming this moving the crew had an Easter egg hunt for their children at the castle where they were filming. Strangely one of the Easter eggs made it into the movie and you can very briefly see it under the throne as Riff Raff lounges in it. It is thought that the term Easter egg being used to describe something hidden in movies/video games actually comes from this scene in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

It was our second date. My guy said I should think of something to do. So I thought if he can live through Rocky, he’s a keeper. We went to Williams Pub in Minneapolis had a few drinks, crossed the street to Uptown Theater five minutes before 12:00 and got in line for the midnight show. I grabbed a copy of the City Pages. He looked at me weird. I said, “We’re gonna need this.” The water sprayed on cue and us under the paper the cards being scattered about, people dressed in the characters getting on stage and dancing. It wasn’t just a show, it was an experience! 38 years later and we’re still together and married 37 years.

I knew my wife was a keeper early on. She came over to my place to hangout and watch movie. She's 5' 11" and wears women's size 8 shoes. Proportionally, she has very tiny feet. I noticed this when she sat on my couch after taking her shoes off. As a joke, I asked her if she's ever been to China while looking at her feet. She rolled her eyes at me and said "No, I don't practice foot binding." I laughed my ass off. I was shocked she got my joke. The fact she knew about that obscure reference was a big reason I pursued her so hard. She's spent 8+ years rolling her eyes at my jokes.

The usually unspoken of influence of this show hit home to me when my son graduated from primary school. A big party was arranged for all the kids in his class, complete with a DJ. At one time during the night, the DJ played The Time Warp and there was a stampede of kids and teachers onto the dance floor. Not one of those kids were even born when the movie came out, yet they all knew the lyrics to the song *and* they knew all of the dance steps!
It was truly a WTF moment for most of the parents there!

I remember in high school going to see this at the midnight showing. In 1980 a group of us from the 11th grade went on a class trip to the United Kingdom for a week. Playing in a theater at Piccadilly Circus was The Rocky Horror Picture Show live on stage. 4 of the British main characters from the movie were reprising their rolls live. I got to see Tim Curry, Richard O'Brien, Patricia Quinn, and Nell Campbell. That was the biggest highlight of the entire trip and both my junior and senior year of high school. The only thing that was missing was the props we would bring to the movie theater every weekend.

(We were born in 1980, so we didn't even graduate until 1998) but at one of the Rocky Cons Richard O'Brien came right up to her and interacted with her, which sounds like it was a died and gone to heaven moment for her.

I cannot picture my life without the Rocky horror picture show in it. No matter how much shit I have been through in my life, and I’ve been through more than anybody could ever possibly imagine, including 30 years of hospitalizations, 37 surgeries that removed 95% of my G.I. tract, for relapses of intestinal cancer, +9 other chronic diseases, Yep no matter how down I get, all I have to do is think of the time when this movie came out, and how much fun I had with my friends watching it over and over and over, and then over again. It came to be a contest to whom ever had the most tickets stubs, I won! I saw yes in the theatre when it first came out the grand total of 185 times, that doesn’t include all the times I have been back to theatres that are still showing it, where I always come is Frankenfritter, and damn I look good in those heels! It’s incredible the power of music, entertainment, and good memories, they can get you through some of the most difficult times of your life. It takes me back to a happy time, before there we’re any problems, and I wish I could just stay there for an eternity.

I think I know why Rocky Horror is such an underdog movie. The year was 1978 by this time Rocky Horror was already a classic in late night showing. My older brother (who smoked a lot of things.) invited me to come with him to see the mid night showing of the movie. At first I didn't understand what I was getting into with my brother or what he might be into seeing guys in drag and girls looking like cheap hookers. But I wasn't one that would shy away from anything I didn't understand. so we grabbed our seat toward the back as the movie started. I was laughing to myself as people pulled out squirt guns and prayed it above their heads, (Well I thought this is really different, are these people just drunk or high.) As the movie progressed I realized it was a group participation with the movie as the back drop and the audience was more like the main feature. Sure the movie has a lot of classic line which anyone who sees it will instantly recognize. I loved the movie so much that it will always be a part of my collection of movies. Every character in this movie was worth watching again and again. But the whole thing about this movie and the people so addicted to it's appeal are the same people who would want to celebrate Halloween all year round. Just brings out the kid in all of us. Go watch it again today if you get the chance, allow the kid in you to come out and Time Warp.

The question remains, with a motion picture ever be released remaking this masterpiece? There was something in the works, for awhile. Ann Hathaway was going to play Janet - A a Heroine, and Riff Raff - A Handyman was going to be played by Tim Curry. Most of the cast was selected. But it was not meant to be. The motion picture production fell apart. No mention of it can even be found on IMDB.com anymore. The cast changed a bit, and it became a made for television remake. I have not seen the television remake yet. But should a motion picture remake ever grace us with its presence, Lady Gaga would be an awesome Janet, Adam Lambert Doctor Frank-N-Furter, definitly keep Tim Curry as Riff Raff, Brad could be played by Daniel Radcliffe, sexy magenta can be Ann Hathaway. The Criminologist can be played by Barry Bostwick, Rocky Horror - A Creation, should be Channing Tatum. Columbia can be played by Susan Surandon. Eddie the Delivery Boy can be Justin Timberlake because he can hold a tune and Eddie sings a lot. The slew of Transylvanians should be cameos of well known actors.

The first half was a formal event that consisted of us in dress uniform, awards/gifts (which was usually really nice dept attire like t-shirts and hoodies and stuff like that), speeches, formal dinner, and pictures. The public was invited to attend this half. The second half however was held after the last public guest had left. We would all change into regular clothes and hold an ACTUAL PARTY that involved drinking, dancing, and mingling. This half was ONLY allowed for city/county officials, and invited family/friends. One year, my parents were there and asked the DJ to play Time Warp. Up til now, EVERYONE is all over the dance floor. When the music went off, everyone sat down to take a break from dancing until the next song came on. As it turned out, the next song was Time Warp. Now, it was just me and my parents on the dance floor doing the Time Warp (again lol) while everyone in the room just stared at us like we escaped from the nut house or something lol.

I’m friends with one of the session singers guys who Jim Steinman was still friends with up until he just passed away. He was shocked as well at Meatloaf because he was completely opposite most of his adult life. The session singer by the way is Rory Dodd, he has the most beautiful voice ever!! My favorite facts:
It wasn't until partway through shooting that they realized the lab has no door, which is why Dr.Scott charges through the wall. This also creates a great error i how all the guests got up to the lab. Don't say the lift, as it is too slow/small.
It might have escaped some people's notice, but all the members of the wedding party and the photographers all play the Transylvanians in the movie. This is subtly pointed out in the painting of the caretakers and the church next to the clock at the beginning of "the Time Warp", since Richard and Patricia had played those parts as well.
The statue of Columbia still stands in one of the producers(?) gardens.
There was an error somewhere in shooting, so for the closeup of where Dr. Frankenfurter tells Rocky "Don't be upset, it was a mercy killing..." that part of the set had to be reconstructed for that one shot.

From what a friend of mine said, he now runs an antique shop in the UK and if you mention RHPS to him he'll kick you out of his shop. Also, while he's better about it now, there was for a time where Barry Bostwick was drinking a lot and he went to an RHPS convention and basically railed on the fans as being losers and such. Peter Hinwood

      BORN
      May 17, 1946 (age 72)
      OCCUPATION
      Actor, antiques dealer
Peter Hinwood (born 17 May 1946) is an English actor and antiques dealer.
      Biography
"Hinwood worked as both a photographer and a professional model while he was pursuing his acting career. Hinwood is mostly noted for his film appearance as the well-oiled, muscular and mostly mute creation Rocky in the 1975 cult classic, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Rocky's singing voice was dubbed in post-production by Australian singer Trevor White. Both Hinwood and White were interviewed by Scott Michaels for his 2002 book Rocky Horror: From Concept to Cult.
His portrayal of Dr. Frank-N-Furter's "creation" was the most significant role of Hinwood's limited acting career. Hinwood had played the Greek god Hermes in the Adventures of Ulysses mini-series on British television in the late 1960s. He performed in one other horror film before Rocky Horror, as "Guy" in Roddy McDowall's macabre Tam Lin. After Rocky Horror, he capped his cinematic career with a bit role in Paul Humfress and Derek Jarman's homoerotic Roman historical drama, Sebastiane.
Hinwood is now an antiques dealer in London and lives most of the time in Tangiers. He told People magazine in 2000 that there were three reasons why he chose not to continue to milk his Horror moment. "One, I can't act. Two, I cringe with embarrassment every time I see myself on film. Three, I relish a quiet, peaceful life." Hinwood revealed that in 1994 he had rediscovered the gold hot pants he wore in the film and sold them through an auction house for nearly $1,000. "

I saw the movie for the first time on DVD. I never went to a midnight screening, but the DVD did offer optional audience responses. I did see the Rocky Horror Show on Broadway twice. In late 2001, Broadway was having a hard time because of 9/11. I got tickets for the Rocky Horror Show the night before it closed. It was really awesome. Dick Cavett played the narrator and he was hysterical. After it closed, they announced they were bringing it back for a limited run with a different person as the narrator each week. Having already seen it with Dick Cavett, my girl friend and I decided to see it with Jerry Springer. He was OK in the role. In retrospect we regretted not seeing it with Cavett again. But it was memorable for other reasons. This time we had front row seats. Also, Rif Raf was played by Sebastian Bach. During the final number he literally lifted me out of my seat to dance with me. I would definitely see it again.

There was a little alcohol and green stuff involved also that made it a lot more fun. What a great movie and great memories of my lady friends and being a teenager. I watch it every Halloween and the soundtrack is awesome!

When i visited Perth back in 1986 one of my highlights was being taken to a screening by a couple of young ladies i had met. Had a blast seeing how you Aussies did your audience partici...... pation. I have seen the movie over 400 times, on 3 different continents and in 5 different countries.

I watched it last night (April 13th 2020) and it's my new favourite film. Tim Curry was born for that role, God bless him.

In the 1990s I had a work assignment in Bangkok, Thailand. On Halloween, some of my Thai colleagues planned an evening of pizza, beer and to watch a scary movie that was being broadcasted on a local TV channel.
I went to be sociable, and to my surprise, the "scary" movie was a Rocky Horror Picture Show. My Thai friends had no idea what they were in for. They were confused and disappointed, since they were expecting something like a Boris Karloff Frankenstein movie.
I will tell you one thing, you cannot explain a Rocky Horror Picture Show to people who have not grown up in our western culture. My favorite question of theirs, "What do they mean by time-warp, and why do they want to do it again?" I still have no clue as to how to answer that question.

Shock Treatment is an excellent stand-alone film that was ahead of its time. Worth a separate 10 things video
