That includes the people attacked Ahmed Best and Jake Lloyd. Part of the problem at least nowadays is movies attempt to put as much reality into fantasy movies and shows and parental figures don't teach the difference between fantasy and reality. I've always told my stepdaughter that movies and shows are made up and not to take anything serious and just enjoy the movie/show.

I know this video is two years old but THANK YOU for the part about the Ghostbusters game!! I can STILL hear the music in my head when you show the game scenes!
SONY "cherry picked" racial and sexist posts and publicized them in order to victimize the remake, Yes, people said some rather distasteful things, however, SONY rather than accepting genuine criticism took to the most ugly type of manipulation, the kind of high publicity that seeds vengeful retaliation in every way. All for MONEY.
Yes the media does this constantly. If 1 out of 1000 people say something bigoted they trot that out as the main criticism. Disney has taken the same tactic with Star Wars.
Patrick Neary This is established fact. There are dozens of screenshots of people's upvoted comments that were rational criticisms of the film and/or trailer that Sony deleted leaving just the troll comments behind. The media then ran with Sony's narrative that "it was duh misogynists".
The part where Dana is sitting in her chair and has the arms rip out of it and grab her is pretty terrifying watching it as a kid...but weirdly erotic as an adult lmao
Thank you Minty!..love this movie, and love your retrospective on it, your pieces are highly entertaining, and I just can't get enough of that 80's flavor you put in them, keep em' coming!
That Ghostbusters game was designed by the legendary David Crane, believe it or not. It was originally made for the Commodore 64 and the other versions are ports. It had to be developed in 6 weeks because the movie was already in theaters by then, so they converted a game named Car Wars that was already in development into a Ghostbusters game. It sold well at the time and was well reviewed, although there were a few dissenting voices including Ernie Hudson himself. The NES version came out four years later and is generally considered to be a bad port, but the Atari 2600 version is considered to be pretty good so take that how you will.
they had to make the characters as distinct and unique as possible in order to sell toys and other merchandise. thats why they made the uniforms in different shades. in the cartoon they came up with a plausible reason why their uniforms changed colors.
Back in the late 80's when movies took at least 2 years to come to rental home videos,... i hired Ghostbusters for 2 nights, the company called drive in movies would deliver your movie and pick it up, They didnt come back for it,... having an original copy of this back then was un heard of back then, it was on beta max tho !! lol. still watched it seriously about 4 times a week for months. I have much love for this movie it is a classic, the remake made my eyes bleed,
He may not have officially been named slimer, but at one point Ray does mention the name Slimer. "Here is we store all vapors, and entities, and Slimers that we trap" the scene where Ray is teaching Winston how to use the containment facility.
I remember while watching this movie in the theater everyone sang along "Ghostbuster" and I couldn't help but to also sing too! I loved the movie so much my children when they got a bit older fell in love with this move too!
When I returned to working at a nuclear plant as a Health Physics Tech I did a parody song that had lines like "Contaminated man on the step off pad, who ya gonna call? DoseBusters!" "I ain't afraid of no dose!"
I still have the NES game of Ghostbusters somewhere locked up with my childhood things and ugh that game was such a pain. I was so happy when I beat it because I never played it again.
I think an appeal and charity should be started... "Give William Atherton a hug next time you see him" lol. Poor bloke was a doofus in the first two Die Hard's as well. But seriously, some people are idiots thinking a fictional character is real and therefore the actor is also like that. They're the ones that should have a slap to knock some sense into them, lol.
It is downright ridiculous that some people are incapable of distinguishing between a character played out on a screen, and the real-life actor who brings the character to life. The fact that the haters couldn't separate William Atherton from his performance (almost like Jack Gleeson after his portrayal of Joffrey from Game of Thrones) speaks to a level of detachment from reality that cannot be healthy.
@@flightofthebumblebee9529 Yes, my dad was a guy who despised actor Victor Jory, an actor of the '30s through the '80s who often played villains. I tried several times to explain to him that it was a sign of his ability to get the audience to hate him, but he wouldn't have it. Actually, Jory played a police detective in an excellent TV series, "Manhunt," in 1959-'61. Soap opera stars had a tough time with the fans who couldn't seem to grasp the concept of acting.
@@flightofthebumblebee9529 , it was the same with Iwan Rheon, who portrayed Ramsay Bolton. Joffrey and Ramsay were two of the wickedest characters on the show, yet played by the nicest actors. On a side note, Iwan is also an accomplished Welsh folk singer. :)
@Robert Pierson Apparently, you're one of the "My mind is made up, don't confuse me with the facts," people. We've all seen numerous actors of both genders who were beloved for playing iconic nice characters who turned out to be thoroughly nasty human beings in real life. I'll bet you can name some of them, right?
The funny thing about Walter Peck is he wasn't wrong in wanting to make sure the Ghostbusters were not contaminating the environment and the city while doing their job.
This was the first movie I ever saw in theaters. I was only 3 and I remember Slimer scaring the crap out of me when he flew straight at the screen. I had a box of M&M's or Reese's Pieces and ended up throwing them all over people behind me.
Here's another random fact about Ghostbusters. In the scene where the guys are running through the park, there is a birthday party, and the girl whose birthday it is in that scene is a future pop singer named Debbie Gibson. It's a blink and you miss it moment, but she's there.
20:03 This film brought us A Hit song , video, alot of Toys ( Ambulance, kids size uniforms and foot pedaled Ghost Trapper) even Hawaiin Punch Slime Etco Cooler, a cartoon and Sequels.
Non cannon though but still interesting fact. Marvel did a "the eal Ghostbusters" comic book series in which they gave Slimer a backstory before he died. He was actually named King Remils who died while being obese.
The fact that we didn't get an 80's Shadowrun movie co-starring Eddie Murphy is a crime against humanity and the statute of limitations will never run out.
We love Ghostbusters over here, and Minty... Keep making great content, we have also had a few copyright issues, (unusable B-Roll) but don't let it stop you, your videos are awesome.
Here's one might now have known: In Ghostbusters II, when the Ecto 1 is shown making loud bangs (called "backfire") as Stantz drives it with Zeddermore riding with him in the beginning, those aren't sound effects-those are real, as the same Ecto 1 from the first one was being used in the second one, and it showed real signs of running rough.
Any time someone needs help, I say "Who you gonna call?" I wish they were still around to battle the current evil running New York. The casting was great.
To really encapsulate Belushi’s presence in the Slimer character he should have had the character rip huge lines of blow in one of the rooms of the hotel

So, I’m going back through any I’ve missed and this is the one I’m starting with. It was a great insight into the making of this awesome movie. ❤
I couldn't agree more. In fact I imagine a movie that should have been made and that John Belushi should have starred in with Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy and John Candy, before his death. And its called The Land of Gorch, an SNL Muppet movie directed by Jim Henson and released in 1982 3 years before Ghostbusters. Wouldn't you love to see that movie if it was made?
Nah, it would have relied on too many fart jokes and yelling. The group they got were far superior for the subject matter. Dry wit and understated comedy. We got the best that could have been.
I definitely like the original Ghostbusters movie over the remake but I do not think the remake was as bad as some people made it out to be. It was made in today's modern times and was enjoyable but for those of us that grew up with the original, that is where our hearts are. Great video Minty. Keep up the great vids.

will brinkley I liked the 2016 movie I thought that it was pretty good but I respect your opinion.
The irony of Minty pointing out the conglaturation screen and asking about proof readers, immediately after a section about "slimmer" is not lost on me.
Best winning quote ever "We came we saw we kicked it's ass!" one of the many reasons why I love this film
3rd best... 2nd "When someone asks if you're a god, you say YES!" 1st "Human sacrifices, dogs and cats living together, Mass Hysteria!"
What's funny is the according to the puppet in this video, slimmer had a huge ass to kick.
2 in the box, ready to go. We be fast and they be slow...GB2
Veni, Vidi, Vici
I love the way venckman and Spengler communicate without words in various occasions, included this when they come to a price
Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!
I'll say this again, anyone who beats up an actor for playing a character, deserves a straight-jacket.
When did you say it before? I must have missed it, sorry. ;)
Think about it like this: someone who beats up and/or berates etc. an actor because of a particular role is really the most genuine validation and appraisal of the actors abilities. He acted so good, others think thats really what he is.
That said, yeah don't assault anybody ever
@@michaelmoore7975 Look at the gent who played Joffrey on GoT. People still hate that dude for a role in a television show. I guess that's how good he was.

LOVE THIS CHANNEL
As a child in an unstable home, and as a result afraid of everything. This franchise was empowering, made me feel like I could confront the strange and unknown, which was my everyday.
(obviously this is a thought I had as an adult, as a kid I just like the movie/show).
Great insight!
I have had similar experiences with my childhood movies.
Wow. Really ?
Minty rules! Being an 80s kid This was my favorite childhood movie. Keep up the awesome videos Minty!
I know this video is two years old but THANK YOU for the part about the Ghostbusters game!! I can STILL hear the music in my head when you show the game scenes!
Ironic that you misspell "Slimer" the fat, can't-stop-eating ghost as "Slimmer" which means "thinner."
"Aykroyd" was misspelled, as well.
I think you missed the joke - check out what he says at the end of that section ;-)
It’s even funny if you use Speak to hear it on your iPad. It’s complicated.

*"Ghostbusters, WHAT DO YOU WANT"*
SONY "cherry picked" racial and sexist posts and publicized them in order to victimize the remake, Yes, people said some rather distasteful things, however, SONY rather than accepting genuine criticism took to the most ugly type of manipulation, the kind of high publicity that seeds vengeful retaliation in every way. All for MONEY.
Sony conspiracy from a troll apologist.
Yes the media does this constantly. If 1 out of 1000 people say something bigoted they trot that out as the main criticism.
Disney has taken the same tactic with Star Wars.
@@patrickneary8446 It did get catalogued kid. Yeah, there was some assholes on the fans side, but the studio kept it going for money.

This is established fact. There are dozens of screenshots of people's upvoted comments that were rational criticisms of the film and/or trailer that Sony deleted leaving just the troll comments behind. The media then ran with Sony's narrative that "it was duh misogynists".
PC-ism destroys everything it touches.

I never understood why the Animated Egon was blonde.
they had to make the characters as distinct and unique as possible in order to sell toys and other merchandise. thats why they made the uniforms in different shades. in the cartoon they came up with a plausible reason why their uniforms changed colors.
Animated Egon had some sexy hair tho
OMG! I was beginning to think I was the only one who noticed!
Hair dye in the pilot duuhhhh
The remake sucks but Kate McKinnon was adorable as sexy blonde Egon.
Ghostbusters is one of my top 5 all-time favorite movies. Even today, I still watch it again every now and then.

You still got the tape?
He may not have officially been named slimer, but at one point Ray does mention the name Slimer. "Here is we store all vapors, and entities, and Slimers that we trap" the scene where Ray is teaching Winston how to use the containment facility.
I remember while watching this movie in the theater everyone sang along "Ghostbuster" and I couldn't help but to also sing too! I loved the movie so much my children when they got a bit older fell in love with this move too!
As usual you did an awesome job Minty!!! Thank you for these!!

Toyin Oshodi Yeah it's a re-upload
I still have the NES game of Ghostbusters somewhere locked up with my childhood things and ugh that game was such a pain. I was so happy when I beat it because I never played it again.
I think an appeal and charity should be started... "Give William Atherton a hug next time you see him" lol. Poor bloke was a doofus in the first two Die Hard's as well. But seriously, some people are idiots thinking a fictional character is real and therefore the actor is also like that. They're the ones that should have a slap to knock some sense into them, lol.
#leavepeckalone? That's brilliant, Minty! Loving the channel as always!
Yeah people sure are stupid
Jack Gleeson aka Joffrey is the nicest guy in the world. It is a testament to an actor if they can make you hate their character so much.
The funny thing about Walter Peck is he wasn't wrong in wanting to make sure the Ghostbusters were not contaminating the environment and the city while doing their job.
And then some might say Ghostbusters twos ooze could be that
He was however wrong about them faking their cases by inducing hallucinations in people and then charging for a light show to fix things.

Slimer is Bluto. Great Video.😜
Non cannon though but still interesting fact. Marvel did a "the eal Ghostbusters" comic book series in which they gave Slimer a backstory before he died. He was actually named King Remils who died while being obese.
You do such a fun job of analyzing films and you do share pretty excellent stories. Keep it up.

I thought it was a reference to Uncle Buck with John Candy since Candy didn't get the part.

I still think one of the great movie quotes of all time is “Ray, when someone asks if you are a God; you say ‘YES’”
To really encapsulate Belushi’s presence in the Slimer character he should have had the character rip huge lines of blow in one of the rooms of the hotel
Conglaturations on your amazing channel and its popularity Minty 👏
My favorite movie line, "If someones asks if you're a god, you say, 'YES'". SW oh my GOD! I would love to "plow that field" only problem is I was like 12 back then.
I was 10 thinking the same thing 😛
I wouldn't say no, in '84 for sure.
Another great one minty , even after 35 years this film is still awesome
Watched a show on TV about this movie and everyone interviewed from the movie said Slimer was a spirit liking to all out tribute to Balushi.

Well said Minty. That message was truly beautiful. You're a good dude❤
I remember back in the 80's ghostbusters logo was being spray painted everywhere
This was a fun watch. Thank you 😊
I imagine chase would have done fine instead of Murray, but Eddie Murphy and John Belushi would have been hilarious
They did have John Belushi kinda in the movie. His spirit took the form of Slimer.
I definitely like the original Ghostbusters movie over the remake but I do not think the remake was as bad as some people made it out to be. It was made in today's modern times and was enjoyable but for those of us that grew up with the original, that is where our hearts are. Great video Minty. Keep up the great vids.
Another great video! Learn a thing or two like always.
One of my favorite movies. So hyped for the upcoming new movie!

He was made from 5 jumbo marshmallows
Dana has a bag of Stay Puft marshmallows on her counter when the eggs start breaking a boiling. And there's an ad for Stay Pufts on wall near their headquarters. So Ray thinking of him didn't come out of nowhere.
And what I found interesting that in the cartoon the stay puft marshmallow man actually worked with the Ghostbusters in a couple episodes.
