Thank you for making this series! I just acquired my first Featherweight. (Yeah!) I am going to follow your videos as a step-by-step restore-along to ensure my machine is clean and safe to use. After watching the episodes you have posted so far, I feel comfortable and confident that I can fully understand the mechanics of my machine, and clean and service it myself. Thank you for providing such in-depth information.
Thank you! I am sure you can learn, and it is a wonderful feeling to have completed the restoration. Especially when you finally get to enjoy sewing with the machine. Good luck to you!
Thank you soooo much! I absolutely love this series. I'm looking forward to removing more parts beyond the hand wheel. This will be an episode I visit frequently. 😀 Will you be doing videos of putting this machine back together? I hope so. Looking forward to your next show. 🦋
Thank you, so glad you like it so far. Yes, I will clean it and put it all back together. I do my best to show as much of the process as possible. Thanks for commenting!
I am glad to find your channel. I've been struggling to remove stuck hand weel all this evening but I couldn't take it off. It is stuck to the main shaft like glue😭 Could you have a solution if I may ask help?
@@emilyhwang2066 Oh no! Do you have a good penetrating oil on hand? If you were able to remove the stop motion knob and get it out of the way then I would recommend a good soak. Lay the machine on it’s nose the the hand wheel end is pointing towards the ceiling and spray it, wait 30 min and spray again. The penetrating oil will start to break up the crud and it should release. If that doesn’t work after a few tries you can also try applying heat with a hair drier along with the oil. Let me know if any of that works!
Thanks for your reply. As followed your advice I've tried several times the process to giving pretty much time to the joint spot of handwheel and shaft for WD40 to soak in. I even tried blowing hot air for 5mns but it wouldn't budge at all! What is going on with my featherweight.. I am so frusrated. wondering WD 40 is not good enough? Should I use another kind of penetrating oil? Sorry to bother you. I really hoped it would get off after all my effort. My featherweight only gave mustle pain on my arms and fingers..😭
I’m sorry to hear it is still stuck. A penetrating oil like Aero Kroil or PB Blaster will do a better job than WD-40. I’m going to look into some possible causes and solutions for you beyond penetrating oil but WD-40 won’t work as well as the other two I mentioned. You aren’t bothering me, however I can help I will try. Sometimes it takes a while for the oil to work, literally days. Keep me posted!
Hi. I've left my machine soaked in oil for a few days more but nothing changed😭It seems like out of my ability. I think now it's time to clean up all the mess on the table I've made with that😢 and move on. I think I can manage winding its bobbin on my Bernina 440. I really hoped it could work. Anyway..Thank you so much for your kind help!
I am sorry it didn't work out. Each machine has its own history and sometimes we just don't know why certain things are stuck. I had a machine once where someone had used some kind of glue to keep a screw it. Needless to say, frustrating and not fun. If you ever get the opportunity to take it to someone who services them, maybe they can straighten it out for you. But I am proud of you for trying!
@@SewingMachineRehab I am so grateful to have you here. I think I'll learn a lot through your devoted video in detail. Thank you! Merry Christmas and Happy new year. And stay warm!
Love your tutorials. Would like to see a video showing how to replace the stitch regulator assembly
Hi! That will be the next video, should be out sometime this week 😊
