    I'm so excited! My boyfriend got me a featherweight for Christmas and I'm so excited to restore it and make something with it. Thank you for the videos. I would be so lost at where to begin

      @@SewingMachineRehab he didn't even know how good he did. A friend sold it to him at a good price (probably didn't know what they had) and he got it because he knows I like old sewing machines. When I flipped out he asked "is it a good one?" I might have cried. He's a keeper for sure.

    Lovely explanation and demonstration - thank you! (I especially love seeing the difficult bits and things that don't just happen "like in the textbook" - in real life that's the kind of thing we have to deal with so I like all the tips I can get on how to get past those sticking points.) :-)

      Megan, I just shot the video for removing the light and wiring yesterday, such a messy job! Praying I captured the idea well enough on film because that is one lesson that I don't want to have to film again, haha. I am scared to watch it right now but I will have it posted soon, real life moments and all. :)

    Fantastic video Jen. Thank you for doing this series. I will be watching the vids quite a few times lol. I can't start doing mine until I get caught up on the holiday projects that I already started. I want to take my time with them and not have to be hurried. My 70 year old eyes really appreciate the time you take in doing these and all the close ups in the vids. Hope you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving and holiday season.

      Thank you! Hope your Thanksgiving was lovely as well. I actually have two Featherweights that I am working on at once, my poor sewing room is a disaster right now! Hopefully I can get it organized enough to make the kids their Christmas pajamas. Blessings!

    Hello Jen, thank you for all of your videos. My presser bar just wouldn't budge. Hubby and I used a lot of lubrication and the paint brush (with the clipped bristles) up against the end of the bar, he then positioned a screwdriver against the wooden handle and tapped with another screwdriver to get the bar to move.

    • @SewingMachineRehab
      @SewingMachineRehab  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi again! Yes, sometimes a stuck presser bar needs a few taps break it free. Sounds like you took the right approach, good job! Hopefully you were able to get it completely out and continue with your restoration. :)

    The 'line' on the needle bar is commonly referred to as a "witness mark". Great video!

    Hello, how can I repair the metal base/front of my FW221? Bought it from friend and didn't realize there is a "gash" in the metal base; have tried to reach local FW "exert" (he's really busy and good) but figure there must be some bondo or other material I can use to repair this. Love these tutorials, learning so much; bought update/refurb kit from authorized dealer and will tackle serious internal cleaning, replacing motor/foot control, so to find you is a blessed surprise. Thank you for sharing.

      Hi! I haven’t had to make a repair like that yet so I can’t recommend anything. I would suggest taking it to a local body shop, they may have some good advice. It may need paint to cover up the repair depending on where it is and how bad it is….

    Can you point me to the video where you adjust and put the presser bar/foot back together and adjust the setting foot height? Thank you!

    Jen, I cannot get that needle bar screw out 😢 like your one, it has some damage to it already (not quite as much as the one in your video but still). I’m wondering about blasting it with keyboard cleaning aerosol (which is very cold) or a hairdryer? What do you think? In the meantime it’s resting nose up with lubricant oil

      So glad you got it out! Sometimes you just have to walk away and clean something. I get the vacuum out when I get shut down by a stuck screw. Or bake something. 😊 But…I would have tried heat before cold compressed air for future reference.

    how far out should the needle be from the hook mine seems 2 far away to form a stitch

    • @SewingMachineRehab
      @SewingMachineRehab  ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually when that happens the needle is not installed correctly. Make sure the flat side is pointing toward the bed extension. Let me know if that wasn't the problem!

    Will these tutorials work for the 222as well?

    • @SewingMachineRehab
      @SewingMachineRehab  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi! The differences between the 221 and the 222 are pretty extensive in my opinion. There may be a few videos that would apply but overall the inner workings of the two machines are very different. I would love to have a 222 to film some videos with but have yet to get my hands on one!

    Help! I cannot remove my needle bar clamp screw. I’ve sprayed in many, many times. Put the machine on the wheel for more pressure and a slight tap and nothing wants to budge. Any other ideas are greatly appreciated.

    • @SewingMachineRehab
      @SewingMachineRehab  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello! I may be a little late answering this and hopefully you have gotten the screw loose by now...I would keep the machine on its hand wheel end and keep spraying the screw. The kind of oil you use really does make a difference, WD-40 may not get the job done. I'd love to know if you were able to get it out, you never know which screw is going to give you a headache.

      @@SewingMachineRehab love the last sentence as so far it’s only still this screw. Aerokroil is coming tomorrow and will follow your suggestion with it. I also ordered a Chapman set and it’s coming Friday. Fingers crossed. Will keep you posted.

    Would WD-40 be an acceptable penetrating lubricant?

    • @SewingMachineRehab
      @SewingMachineRehab  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! You can try it but it’s admittedly not my favorite. If you are able to get Kroil, it is the best and breaking down old dry oil and gunk and it doesn’t hurt the finish of the black machines. I know there are some others out there but once I found something that worked like Kroil does I stopped trying others.
