Most likely parasites. Easily fixed by taking a fecal sample into the vet and treating it with something affective instead of just letting them die.

Justin I’ve been following your journey from the very beginning,so writing this was hard however I felt I had to. I know we only see a snippet of your animal husbandry but what you are showing is concerning. I respect organic farming but having a large animal vet in your back pocket that knows your practices is a responsibility to a living creatures well being. There’s more stewardship required than to a cabbage.
I truly love your family and am proud of how far you’ve come. It does look as if you are spread pretty thin this last year. I do realize that you tube isn’t your primary focus anymore but things seem chaotic. Just a very faithful follower that has enjoyed your channel from the beginning and will continue to do so. Watching your family is wonderful.

    • @LexiJoFarms

I 100% agree with this. The well being of their livestock should be their #1 concern. Not cutting down trees. Or making a random path thru the pastures... those critters rely on them and they are failing them... I get life is busy. But you have to prioritize the well being of them before business and if it's not in the cards anymore maybe lessen the livestock load... and go a few years buying organic meat from the store. If that's what it takes to get everything in order.

Said with love and actual medical knowledge, Coccidiosis is easy to treat using Sulidimidine, Vet script is needed. It will go through the entire herd of animals if not treated. The best thing you can do is to drench them, using electrolytes if you have any. The animal's systems gets completely overloaded with the organisms and will cause fatal diarrhea. I know you don't like using medications, but it really comes down to them suffering and you being unable to harvest.

I don't think that's necessary. I raise Katahdin sheep, and they are very hardy. There are some poisonous plants that they could eat, the most likely is wild cherry that has wilted. I have had an average of about 25 multi-colored Katahdin sheep on my farm, and I've never had one over 3 months old die. I don't even have to treat them with anything except I'mectin once or twice in their life. Katahdin sheep are generally more hardy than goats, easier to keep penned in, and just about as cute. 🥰

Maybe if they kept it at some type of boarding facility, where there are others responsible for the vaccinations, parasite prevention and upkeep and diet of the horse. And now it sounds like they might be getting several, I cringe.

If u put the power back on, take the bracelet off again, and leave it at the energizer for the next time someone shuts it off.

Larger ponies a lot of time have a more gentle disposition and can be led around with small children. Do your research and ask for help. Dont ever just take an owners word on their horses. Maybe Lilys riding instructors can help and also read up on all the different breds for reference when looking. I cant wait for lily to get her own horse all of your children work so hard they definitely deserve rewards like this.

Having a horse is a big commitment and when you only have a limited amount of space to graze your animals growing meat for your family seems the logical choice.
Sheep are very prone to parasites and on a farm where there is life there is death. Why are people so judgmental. You only see a part of the how they care for the animals.
Just because we see a lot of the boys fun doesn’t mean the girls don’t have fun of their own. Perhaps they don’t want to share everything they do and seeing the comments below, I don’t blame them.

Not really Janet. It's what our species has been watching and coping with for11,900 of the past 12,000 years since we've been raising livestock. We've just become too isolated and "unnatural" in our conveniences. When I saw the comments here today I thought perhaps there was some chainsaw butchering going on from all the noise. But it was just a sheep, dead in the woods from arguably natural causes. Remember that drugs you put in your feed ends up in you and your children. Homesteading tries to keep it as natural as possible. There are costs to not turning your feed animals into walking drug-stores.

I raise chickens for eggs and meat when they quit laying. But they are given living conditions that are not stressful . They have good shelter and nesting accomodations + food quality and variety. They do not get agitated by constant relocation, harrasment by other animals, kids , etc. They are happy birds, and so they never try to escape there 4 foot electric net fence. So there is no need to traumatize them by clipping there wings. Also avoid overcrowding with 1 bird for every 100 square feet free run, and 3 square feet per chicken inside there coop.

If one's emotions can't deal with many of the harsh realities that have been the norm for our species for 11,900 of the past 12,000 years, this is probably not the channel for you. There are doers, and there are critics. The doers are usually too busy doing to be critics; and the critics are usually too busy criticizing to actually do anything virtuous in the World. That's why they have to gather to "signal".
