You are an amazing leader in so many ways. Your children and your wife are so blessed to have you as their husband and father. If only all men could show such strength, compassion, faith, honor, love, humility, kindness. The world would be a better place. You’re doing Gods work. God bless you and your family and furry ones too. I will always remember your comment in your other video, “men serve, boys take”. Even grown men take.
Jonah and Josiah have common sense and resourcefulness a grown man would be proud of. They are the work horses of the farm and they should be very proud of themselves.
I am only 3 minutes in and can say it is not a total fail. 1.) In raising men. I will watch to the end but already can see the growing ingenuity and autonomy of Jonah and Josiah. Jonah taking inspiration to build on his own, both being willing to help and being in on decision making with you as you attempt, again, to problem solve and improve farm conditions. 2.) It is also not a fail in entertainment value. Watching you guys move the pigs is tickling my funny bone - thevmusic choice for this segment really adds. :) (And congrats on the surprise broccoli joy. Now on to the rest of the vlog - 6 more minutes of fun break time until i return to my own labors.) Blessings!
You’re such an inspiration Justin. Your attitude, your family, and watching you all pull together. Beautiful ❤️ Love the videos, praying for a speedy recovery for your homestead.
Love watching your channel. I'm hoping after your place is recovered after Helene, you can give us longer videos. This is my favorite channel. I'm a sick old lady stuck in my bed hocked to Oxygen, Much love and God bless you and the family.
Great job young men growing their practices and honing their skills. Family together getting the jobs all done. Learning to lead and follow, leadership skills at every level in the family. Blessings and prayers for a beautiful family ♥️🔥🙏😊❤️👀😃👍
Looks like you are doing the best you can . With Lily doing the cooking. The boys are doing whatever they can . With all the flooding on your lower pastures and loosing all your hay . Prayers 🙏 and Love 🤟 From Ginger
yep they should just pile the spoiled hay on top of the garden beds where the green house used to be and by next planting season it will be gone but will cover the soil....but wet hay is very heavy they will need tractors to move it.
I hope you guys have a good and safe winter. I know you guys didn't have insurance, but you DO have the ability to do repairs most can't. It'll all work out for you in the end.
The hog panel idea works like a dream! I raised hogs for 4 years, and we never figured out how to guide them around with such ease! The kids tried to use the cane method, but they never could do much more than chase the hogs. I ended up training them to do tricks, and they would follow me around. It is so funny to teach a hog to sit and bark like a dog! City folks will look at ya with a puzzled look!
Love Jonahs ability to teach himself and the motivation to do it. A real man! All your kids pull their weight! Even the little guy gives you perspective on life!❤👍🇨🇦🙏😊
I love this channel so much! But what I am totally amazed by and just am in awe over, is how well your family functions as a whole. Your older boys have gotten so grown and are defiantly young men now...the littles are on their way! Lily is such an amazing girl! STONG and SMART and such a take charge young woman. Between you and Rebecca, you have raised happy and well adjusted humans for this crazy world.
I kno there all amazing family especially thru all this storms ! Love watching learning thts how we made are whole chickshaws and coops ty for wealth of knowledge God bless u all
We all learn by doing, even if it is a fail. Nothing wrong with a fail, when you take away something from it. As you said, your boys are showing man skills, and that’s a win!
Put a chain on a fence panel. Slap old plywood on top. Pile with moldy hay. Drag with a quad to the fields, or just to the chicken emclosure. Drag the hay off the makeshift sled. Repeat. It will break down over the winter. Good luck.
chuckling...surely you know by now, about 4 years ago the audience was yelling at their screens, "turn him loose!" regarding the intuitive engineer. When he started buying his own tools, we all wanted to just send him a big box gift card loaded with big bucks. 😂
A Joel Salatin trick, got any corn on the cob? Mix in corn and they won;t stop until the find it all. If you can spare some garden veg mix it in with the hay. Pigs are lazy so they need a reason to work and food on top isn;t incentive enough.
Justin, please give us a daily update on Grandma. Know that prayers are being said for her peaceful transition. Is the cemetery you created ready? Was it damaged in the hurricane?
I must tell you to get ready for some great changes any day now. The left will hate this and cause trouble, but it will be wonderful for the entire world, and especially your situation. Bless your family!
I listen to music probably for about 10 hours a day, and one of the very few instances I feel like pausing it is to watch your vlogs Justin, love y'all ♥️. Happy day!
I think like most other family youtube channel teens, they’ve done this “family business” for most of their young lives, it’s pretty much all they know, and they’re tired. 🥴 Love Josiah.
AlpacaMade - yes he is. I’ve watched them for years since Josiah was little. He’s always been my favorite Rhodes child (each of the kids is my favorite in their own special way😀😂.) I think Josiah goes along to get along and is a natural peacemaker. I think there are lots of other things he would rather be doing but he takes the back seat and goes with the flow. They’ve all been through many highs and many lows, changes and losses without many breaks. I look forward to seeing how the older kids are in 5..... 6 years as they come into their own as we’ve watched them grow up. They are special kids in their own right.😀
In one of my enclosures, I had a few goats and three chickens. For some reason one of my pigs decided she needed to live in with the goats and the chickens, and they all get along really well. As long as I feed them all a little separately she will not let the goats near her food and it took them a day or two to respect that so I usually throw their food in first and do them and then put her pan down, other than that they get a lot of grass hair and just weird stuff they eat acorns oak leaves Cetera good for the goats and good for the pigs so I was just wondering I’m sorry for taking so long to get to the point why can’t your chickens just go straight in there with the pigs or do you think your pigs will try to eat the chickens?
You have to try new things to find out what really works. You are teaching your kids to use what they have and not be afraid to try new things. They are also learning that not everything works. Stay safe, God bless you all.
Check out the chicken tractor on steroid from Billy at Perma Patures farm. That should give you an idea of how to get the chickens to curn up that spoiled hay.
I sure could use Jonah at my home. if I tell him the problem he will solve it. need extra cages for my rabbits. 2 more breeding pairs next year. I am not exactly handy, what I make work, most of the time, but it aint pretty.
Justin, I haven’t been worrying about all of the Rhodes. Can you put the chickens in the greenhouse for the winter? It would take a major clean up in the spring.
Was looking at the river bank again, have you thought of making gabion's and putting the rocks in them and building a wall. th-cam.com/video/t9DDXZphLyo/w-d-xo.html
It is so shocking to see what that angry water has done to your family's beautiful homestead. Water is so passive-aggressive... It is nice to see you do have help. I rebuild my Elle-May's hut, yesterday by myself, the drill battery about half dead, and work8ng with only scrap wood and not the new stuff either. I got it sorta proper up kinda stable, best I can do for now, the old 1 square pallet hut got to small as wellvas I moved her fence but could not move the old hut, bc it's really heavy and I have no wagon now any truck, I was going to take it a part, the other day... it's full of hornets, wasps, couple different stinging type... so that's out till I can fund a way to not get stung. I rally need the ruffing tarps on it, but I dont Ned stung.
Good attempt to problem solved... Have you tried using a drill with a hay fork on the end to twirl the hay? Or flaked it all and divided it in the 2 areas? Chickens and pigs???
Yeah.. if you already have the equipment. That costs almost 400 dollars. And the service is free to the end of the year? It's almost November. So basically you need to buy the equipment for 400 dollars and you get free service for a month, then it cost $120 a month for internet service .

Jonah’s a genius. Always coming up with new things to do.
You’re such an inspiration Justin. Your attitude, your family, and watching you all pull together. Beautiful ❤️ Love the videos, praying for a speedy recovery for your homestead.
Bonus, he's a genius who is creative and I'm still stuck on happiness that his hip has healed well. Way to leave us in the dust young man.

Seeing some FREE PIG JOY today was a real treat. Thanks!
Looks like you are doing the best you can . With Lily doing the cooking. The boys are doing whatever they can . With all the flooding on your lower pastures and loosing all your hay .

The Ruth Stout Method involves mulching everything with spoiled hay. No composting necessary.
yep they should just pile the spoiled hay on top of the garden beds where the green house used to be and by next planting season it will be gone but will cover the soil....but wet hay is very heavy they will need tractors to move it.

We all learn by doing, even if it is a fail. Nothing wrong with a fail, when you take away something from it. As you said, your boys are showing man skills, and that’s a win!
A lot of effort and a great project! In farming, we have to try things. Great adventures!
Love the pig running. 🥰 He was having a great time. ❤
Put a chain on a fence panel. Slap old plywood on top. Pile with moldy hay. Drag with a quad to the fields, or just to the chicken emclosure. Drag the hay off the makeshift sled. Repeat. It will break down over the winter. Good luck.
All your family works so good together
Thank you very much for the video sir.
Hi Randolf family angel .. Justin all your knowledge will save the farm 🙏❤️
You all are going through so much right now, and Justin makes me laugh so hard with the Darth Vader thing, I almost had an asthma attack! 😂😂
Your big boys are so very clever ❤❤❤❤
chuckling...surely you know by now, about 4 years ago the audience was yelling at their screens, "turn him loose!" regarding the intuitive engineer. When he started buying his own tools, we all wanted to just send him a big box gift card loaded with big bucks. 😂
Wow. Awesome work this fabulous day🎉
Jonah is so amazing. When he's ready to take a wife, she'll be a blessed girl. 🙂
Are your hogs an old English breed? They’re gorgeous.
I believe he once said they were Gloucestershire Old Spots.
@@leannsmarie Wonderful old breed. I probably saw them in a magazine about endangered farm stock.
A Joel Salatin trick, got any corn on the cob? Mix in corn and they won;t stop until the find it all. If you can spare some garden veg mix it in with the hay. Pigs are lazy so they need a reason to work and food on top isn;t incentive enough.
The pig is so happy running around, the adventure of a lifetime 🤣
God Bless the one Thanksgiving turkey !! So amazing that he made it and I was so sad for little Gideon’s heart and all his hard work. Go Solo
It is what you do when you have choice that makes the difference when you have no choice!!!!!
Win some lose some but you can't win without trying.
Go Jonah! Great job inspiring your children Justin and Rebecca!
You’ve got some happy farm animals. But those pigs seem to rule.
Ive had Starlink for a couple years and its absolutely amazing
4:56 a beautiful view thats been a long time in the making and worth it! 🐷
Oh well! You win some, you loose some! Blessings!
Justin, please give us a daily update on Grandma. Know that prayers are being said for her peaceful transition. Is the cemetery you created ready? Was it damaged in the hurricane?
Keep on Swinging!
I see your teens love to hug in public as much as mine does. LoL !!
A+ on that broccoli!
Your family is amazing..
I must tell you to get ready for some great changes any day now. The left will hate this and cause trouble, but it will be wonderful for the entire world, and especially your situation. Bless your family!
care to be more specific?
instead of putting the chickens with the hay, you can also put the hay with the chickens
Question? Can some of the molded hay be move to the area where the chickens are staying?
I listen to music probably for about 10 hours a day, and one of the very few instances I feel like pausing it is to watch your vlogs Justin, love y'all ♥️. Happy day!
Stack the hay…add fertilizer…molasses and water. You’ll have compost after turning it about seven times or in three weeks.
Looks like herding cats!!!LOL!
Why is Josiah always so sad? Praying to see him smile often!!
I think like most other family youtube channel teens, they’ve done this “family business” for most of their young lives, it’s pretty much all they know, and they’re tired. 🥴
Love Josiah.
Hopefully that's just how it looks
Josiah and Jonah very smart young men with great skills.
@@noble604 Josiah has always been the quieter, contemplative brother. However, when asked a direct question, you get a direct, no foolin' answer. ;)

Worth a try😊
I love this channel!
I always say don’t panic, it’s organic.
Please let me know how well or bad star link works on cloudy days..
Or even foggy mornings.
Much appreciated!
It’s always worth the try just never know until you do it
I’m rather envious of the broccoli…
How is Grandpa doing by his self prayers for him

Keep that survivor turkey for a pet
Lord have mercy

Could you span some tree trunks across the creek for walking over?
"I didn't teach him a thing"
Wrong, you taught him how to find the information and how to learn it ;) that alone can take someone pretty far!
Check out the chicken tractor on steroid from Billy at Perma Patures farm. That should give you an idea of how to get the chickens to curn up that spoiled hay.
What is that book of plans. (found it) Polyface Designs
❤❤❤
Your text on screen is always way too short
Use pause button.
@0:45 Oh, we're doing animations now?
Put some of the hay in the chicken area .
Is there any reason you can’t just throw a bunch of that bad hay in the chicken run for them to peck and scratch and compost?
Move the hay to the chicken pen!!
wHAT? i'VE HEARD PIGS EAT CHICKENS???
