I’m experiencing great p’envy. Your collection is gorgeous and inspires me to save up for some gems. I admire the intentionality that goes into your collecting and share your aesthetic. Thanks so much for a very enjoyable video. I’m also not a great fan of plain black pens but I recently pulled the trigger on the Lamy 2000 that was priced nicely on Amazon. You’re right-it’s a dream to write with. I also just got another plain black pen-the Pilot Namiki Custom 742-just to play with the nib. The falcon nib is such a flexy nib and fun to experiment . I’m hoping to learn calligraphy with it. My current everyday writers have been my Esties. I love the Scribe nib and use my Esties daily in my journals. Just ordered the new Model J in Violet from Stiloestile and I’m waiting for it to arrive. (They have it priced really nicely, at least for shipping to the U.S where we pay no customs on it.) My most exotic nib is the Matthew Chen Uranagi specialty grind on the LeonardoxStiloestile Desert Nights Momento Mágico. It’s like an architect when used regularly but reverse writing is an extremely smooth ultra extra fine. A total blast to write with. This nib should be interchangeable with my other Leonardos and hopefully, with my Esterbrooks.

That Model J in Violet is very very tempting.... thank you for sharing! I'd love to have Matthew Chen do work on one of my pens, but not sure what!

Actually, I misspoke. The Uranagi nib when used regularly is an ultra-fine and the reverse writing is an architect (mini-Kodachi) nib. Very fun.

Sure lemme have a go too
    1- TWSBI GO Blue
2- 2 way tie between a homemade pen by Darrin (from Ottawa) and an Esterbrook J lever filler
    3- Waterman 312 1/2 (Dated 1910, released in... 1900?)
4- Platinum Curidas (bought new 2022, released 2020)
5- Kaweco Sport Toyama Teal (96mm closed)
    6- Lamy Joy (154mm posted)
    7- Platinum Preppy (5.60$ CAD)
8- Sailor Progear King of Pens Ocean (1230$ CAD)
9- Pretty much all of my vintage pens
    10- Sailor King of Pens
11- Platinum Curidas (Needle-like EF that's somehow smoother than my Graf-Von Bentley)
12- Platinum Curidas (Refuses to seal, nib rubs on the door, ink gets all over the inner tube)
    13- Sailor K.O.P
    14- Waterman 312 1/2 (needs repairs)
15- Sailor (1911S, Progear Slim Rollerball, Compass, HighAce Neo and... You guessed it)

@@KarynaLovesToPlan It's... Complicated. I don't think there are people in my region who fix pre-WWI pens, and if they do, they're well hidden. I tried seeking advice to somebody at Fifteen Pens located in Ottawa and he suggested heat to loosen up the grooves. But that it suuuuuper risky. The worst part is I don't even know if I'll be able to use it as a dip pen, since it's still full of 100+ year old blue-black. I don't even think the ink formed a crust in here, I think it formed a block! One of these days I'll lose my patience and open it with a rotating saw lol
Aside from that, I tried the nib dry on some paper and it's fabulous! I really hope to find a solution because it's well tuned and suuuuper bouncy!

Thank you, Jessica! My dad doesn't use fountain pens as often as I do, but he does use the pen I most recently gave him for Father's Day (maybe one or two years ago) which is a Platinum Plaisir in the Blue. I believe he has a Jinhao Dragon he doesn't use, and possibly a Montblanc that he doesn't use, either!

Loved this questionnaire! The LAMY 2000 was my most surprising pen (pennabled by you!). I think I prefer it to my 823 since it works with so many inks. The Pilot 823 was my grail pen for over a year. I was disappointed in the fine nib when writing with anything other than an iroshizuku ink. The medium nib writes great. I also have the 912 in a WA nib and find it’s been hit or miss with inks.

My first Estie is on its way with some of the new Inkvent inks, and after your videos I have high hopes for it. I chose between the Estie and one of the new J's but the Estie won because of its beautiful cracked finish and that it had a more happy colour. 😇🩷🙏🙌

That was an interesting exercise. My oldest is probably a vintage safety or a vintage eyedropper which are pretty close to 100 yrs. old. Of more modern design would be my piston filling 1955 Pelikan 400. My smallest would make you shake your head. It is sometimes referred to as a "cigarette" pen, but is actually not as girthy as a cigarette. I'm really fascinated by pocket pens, and I surprise myself with my ability to write with them. As for my largest, it has got to be the new Ranga model 5, it puts all other pens to shame with how large it is!!

If you don't care for the smaller sized Pelikan m200 or m400 you probably won't enjoy the Esterbrook J R. Peikan has a slightly wider barrel but they are the same size in length. The Pelikan m200 posts a little deeper making the Esterbrook J R 1cm longer when posted.

Hello Karyna, I enjoyed your questions one year later.
It’s interesting to see, that a collection is not always „only growing“ but changing. Like preference and taste change over time.
Do you chat with your dad about fountain pens? You mentioned him having a few, too ☺️

    • @KarynaLovesToPlan
