I've never heard of anyone calling the 2000 "boring!" It is such a gorgeous, well-designed pen, with such a beautiful texture. I love little design details like the ink windows, the click, the seamless blind knob, and the spring-loaded clip.

    • @geslinam9703
      @geslinam9703 หลายเดือนก่อน

I agree, not a boring pen at all….love all the details, including the nib, but I don’t find it comfy to hold, not for more than a few minutes. It’s the grip, my hand slides down on it. If I don’t find it comfy to hold, I won’t use it that much - so it wouldn’t make my top 5. This coming from someone who owns two of them!

    • @highnoon9333
      @highnoon9333 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@geslinam9703 interesting that you own two of them but don't like them! How'd that happen?

@@highnoon9333 well, I never really was all that attracted to the pen…but then woke up one day and inexplicably, I suddenly had to have one. I ordered a medium, from an online seller who lives one town away from me (I can call him at noon and he will meet me somewhere and by 2pm I have my order in my hot little hands - very, very dangerous!!). So, I got home, inked up the medium, and it was awesome, but much broader than I was expecting and wanting - so I did what any person with major instant gratification issues would do, I called him again and asked if he could meet me with a fine. Was maybe going to return the medium, but I like both of them, so kept both of them. And I didn’t say I didn’t like the pen, I do like it, I just find it hard to hold and write with for long periods. It’s the grip. My hand slides down, and I don’t feel I have the control over my writing that I prefer. Glad I have them, have no intention of selling, I just only use them for quick/ short writing sessions. I like Lamy nibs a lot…just found the CP1 in an antique store for $5. They still make it, new they are $60. Steel nib but it reminds me a lot of the way the 2000 nib feels.

It IS a boring pen. I LOVE mine. LOVE LOVE LOVE. But it is boring. There's nothing wrong with loving a boring pen. Lots of people have vanilla as their favorite flavor for a reason.
It's a very "fits in at the office" pen. In fact I quit using it at work because of how many times it almost got picked up. It would have come back most likely as no one else was a fountain pen user but the body shape is absolutely a fatter torpedo shape that a lot of bulk office pens use.

    • @0xss

I’ve come to love the ergonomics and haptics of the pen but it does look a bit boring (ugly even, lol)

I have found such happiness with one specific pen that it has almost ruined all other fountain pens for me! No matter what I ink up, I always go back to my clear TWSBI Mini! It has a great ink capacity, fits in my little bag perfectly, and has the smoothest nib! I almost wish I’d never discovered it, cus every pen for the rest of my days must try to live up to how much I love that little pen! ♥️

I always enjoy hearing you talk about your pens.
For me, for today, my list would be...
--Retro 51 Harriet Tubman with Diamine Writer's Blood ink.
--Taccia Spotlight Forest Eye, probably the only pen that I purchased just because I thought it was pretty (and it was on sale!). It has a Music nib, but any nib would do.
--Pilot Custom 912 with aftermarket ebonite feed. I got it to use for urban sketching, but it's my most expensive pen, so it still feels too precious.
--Opus 88 Demonstrator in clear, with Pilot Parallel 3.8mm nib, with DeAtramentis Document Green Grey ink. This is my current love for drawing. I just put it together this week. It is so juicy and fun to use.
    Honorable mentions:
--Traveler's Brass Pen because it fits in my on-the-go sketching kit.
--Lamy Safari Pink Cliff with DeAtramentis Document Fuchsia ink. I've been using this pen for the line work in my comics since I got it, and it's the first Lamy I've really enjoyed.
    And my number one pen...
--Sheaffer Targa Regency Stripe that my dad bought for me years ago when we were in Paris together. I picked it out because it looked so French to me, only to discover it's an American pen. I've always treasured it, but even more now since my father has died.
Thank you for the chance to think about my pens and what they mean to me.

    I love the Pilot KAKUNO
Not because they have been making Pens , for over 100yrs..🫡
Not because they are available everywhere, and inexpensive, 🤑($17-$20 canadian )
not because they write, with any brand of ink (even watered down india ink) and easily refillable with a ink loaded syringe. 🫡
or because they are workhorses 💪😜👍
Not because they come in a variety of Clear body colors 😋
and one of the lightest pens in the pen market..😍👍💓💗💖
It is because they make me smile , when I see their nibs..

I really like the nib on the Pilot Kakuno. I don’t currently have a Kakuno in my collection. But it is on my list. The Lamy 2000 is one of the pens I use regularly. Its design will hold up for years to come.
I recently purchased a Waterman Carene. I really like it and like you said it does have a vintage look and a design I believe it will hold up like the Lamy 2000.
I have a bunch of Esterbrook Estie OSs in my collection. They are really good pens. If I had to pick one it would be the Accutron. I don’t have a Pelikan M800 in my collection. I do like my M600 but it wouldn’t make the cut.
My Montblanc Great Characters JFK would be my number one. I saved for a very long time to get one. I really like it especially since I’m a huge fan of the space race and JFK.
In place of the Kakuno since I don’t currently have one would be my Namiki Yukari Rock Garden. Again that required a lot of time and saving up to be able to get. But it was worth it.

Where have you found success in selling your pens for a good price? I never use my MB Calligraphy Flex 146 and have decided to sell it along with a few others. I’d rather them go to good homes instead of taking up space and not being used in mine.
My favourite four pens are my Montblanc 146 Around The World in 80 Days M. To me, it’s the perfect pen. Next would be my Pilot Kaküno that my daughter bought me for Christmas a couple of years ago. I also bought a Plumix to have an alternative nib on it. Next would be my Pilot CH92 in transparent blue FM. I love Pilot’s nibs, the feel of it and that it’s a piston fill. Finally, my Sailor Soda Pop Blue M. I could do without the converter and wish that it was a piston fill as well. But I absolutely love the sparkly blue cap and barrel as well as the flat finials. It also writes really well.

Thank you for sharing your list!
I sell my pens via Instagram or TH-cam posts, but I also have the advantage of a larger following. I have sold on reddit in the group r/PenSwap, as well as on Virtual Pen Show on Instagram. Good luck!

Why have you not included custom 823?😥

Because I don't own one. I tried the 743 and it wasn't for me, so I definitely would not like a Pilot Custom 823. Everyone's top 5 lists are different. Not better or worse. Just different.

It's a great goal! I admire those who have smaller collections that are well curated and well loved!

That Once in a Blue Moon was literally that - it came and went so quickly, before I was even into Estie's!

As someone with the same hyperflexibility, but many more years...please try to change your grip so you aren't hyperextending the knuckle of your index fingers. Arthritis sucks, you dont want to end up where I am!

The pens are lovely, but so are your nails. Please post your nail color with each video.

Thank you! These were done at my salon - BioChic is the brand, but it was number 25 (no name). Nude base with a brown chrome.

Banishing point pens are an abomination of a design

Thanks for the feedback. And it’s Vanishing, not Banishing, right?

Was painful to watch you put those caps behind the pen every time you wrote

I’m scared to watch this - haha. Last time I watched your new pen day (the radius) I bought a pen 😂😂😂 If you have watched my videos I have no shame mentioning your channel and tagging it and blaming you 😋 hehe
