Hey Steve, a little story. I called a local tool rental/repair service to get a carb kit for a Tecumseh lawn mower engine and was told they didn't have one because Tecumseh went out of business 11 years ago, so I went to Amazon and found a complete carburetor for $11.00 plus S&H total cost $28.00. Replaced it myself and now my line mower ( powerful 2 wheeled weed whacker) is back in action taking down all the tall un-mow able grass. The head takes 140 gauge(I think) 22" string line folded before attaching to the trimmer head creating 4 strings to whack with.

$35.00 you have only been here five minutes and reset my circuit breaker. My reply “you not paying me for what I did you are paying me for what knew how to do”.

Don't think you're alone. I've been a carpenter for 30 years and have had to deal with childish uneducated unknowledgeable issues like that for 30 years. It caused me to create a new pricing structure. If you want ME to do the job...$75 an hour, If you want me to explain it to you as I do it...$150 an hour, If you want me teach you how it's done...$225 an hour. If you make unknowledgeable inexperienced presumptions during the process I walk off and never come back. It's all in the contract, sign it I do the work, don't sign it I walk away.

I was an on site maintenance guy in an apt . building that was finished in 1904 . Literally hundreds of old folks from 65 to who knows. Some could be a pain ,but they usually weren't the problem. The one or two people working at the lobby were the laziest bunch . Someone reports a drip. Might be a leaky sink trap. Or a ruptured 12 inch cooling tower supply pipe flooding a couple dozen apartments on the way . People have no idea.
