Actually, some of his studio work (particularly the Pink Moon album) was sped up to make the recording sound "tighter" and give it more energy. Artists like Metallica and The Beach Boys did the same.

This sounds amazing but it is slowed slightly down? His voice sounds deeper. Try to compare with x1.25 speed.
listen to the compilation "family tree" from Nick Drake, he often would sing much deeper, and had the ability to, so it could just be regular.
