  • The rain and wind continued, making it tricky to find usable hours in which to cover the miles. The luxury of our motorhome, however, made the trip warm, comfortable, and a lot of fun!

Greetings from California. What part of the year did you do this trip? Unless I can find someone to do this ride with me, I'll be going solo ( 63 years old ) and want to ride in Sept. when I think there will be decent weather and less people on the road. I'm sure there will be days I'll be riding in the rain and hoping for the best possible weather to do the ride! Any help would be great. Love Scotland and their people! Can't wait to go back!!! All the best, Monte P.S Great video :-)

Hi Monte, we did it in September. Yup you may be in the rain at times, but that's all part of being in Scotland! Best of luck with your tour!

Early May (Before Midgies come out) or September would be best. September may be a little more risky. Don't restrict yourself to the NC 500. There is literally a South West 2000 that gets ignored. Also be flexible - The 7 day forecasts are pretty accurate but the mountains create local conditions that will change in few hours as 117 found. If you need assistance drop us a line. We live here!
