I wish i was with u there And i show how to punish that food it looks sweet and i want u to come to Uganda and test cassava leaves sauce its called sombo bro.
I love how Chris/ Kris kept his word and showed you around. Often times, tourists that come to Brunei don't really experience the culture without a local guide, whether you're with a Local Malay or Chinese guide, there's actually a lot to explore. Triggering my homesickness now 🤣🤣, hope your time in Brunei is something worth remembering!
I was born and raised in Brunei. I havent been home for 4 years now as im currently a student in the UK. Honestly watching your Brunei videos help me cope my homesickness 😭🫶
I just saw this video and told my sons let s move to this country, live next to this restaurant and be friends with this beautiful family Masha Allah. The vibes in this video are amazing 💖
I had some friends over the other night and I was telling them about your channel. Once they saw it (via my laptop), I took a vote as to what area (series) they wanted to watch. I was out-voted and Brunei won. This particular video stood out to me, not because it must have been a lot of fun to make, but you were already tired and had a long day. What is very notable about this video is how you got a family and friends together to help make this video. If I was sitting at a neighboring table, I'd assume you were all related, yet in the back of my mind, I'd be questioning, "how is that dark handsome dude related to the rest of his"family?" 🤔🧔🏽♂ SO MUCH food, I adore Mr. & Mrs. Pabo (in blue?). I love your expression @15:13, ...@20:07......and @28:45 when you are filling that extra stomach section reserved for desserts. 😎 I follow 3 people on YT who have a channel about travel, with you being my latest find. You are very different than the others......please don't change.
Thank you so much for coming to our beautiful country,Brunei Darussalam. I really enjoyed your TH-cam content especially when you talked about Brunei. I can't wait to see more of your videos.. and i appreciate you coming to our country
Assalamualeykum from Mr Javid from UK. This is so lovely to watch. Beautiful people of Brunei and their wonderful hospitality from their beautiful hearts. May Allah SWT bless the people of Brunei, the land of Brunei and the rulers of Brunei, Aaminn
Good to see you eating "ambuyat", a true Bruneian cuisine. "Soto", as far as I know, is actually an Indonesian soup. It's common in Malaysia, Brunei, and Singapore too due to a large amount of Indonesian immigrants. Maybe Brunei has its own "soto". Unfortunately, you haven't explored much while you're in Indonesia. As a big country with countless cultures, food, and attractions, a visit to Indonesia must be planned carefully to choose which experience suits you most (unless you travel for a long time in Indonesia).
I can still remember going back to late sixties while I was living in BSB, a Pakistani man used to drive a van stocked with Malay cakes, in the afternoons and we would enjoy them almost everyday.
Love watching videos about this beautiful lil' country from a foreigner perspective. Thank you for the positivity and great videos. By the way, Ambuyat is a "social" dish and the best time to eat it is with family and friends.
Assalamualaikum and hi again Myer! Totally having fun watching your vlog here. Another info here, ambuyat is made of sagu, and the sagu came from a tree trunk that is called ‘Pokok Rumbia’. The inside of the trunk has to be processed in a specific way to extract the sagu. Hope this helps and wishing you all the best🎉
As a Bruneian who can't eat Ambuyat, I found it interesting that foreigner always tried Ambuyat when they came here. I enjoy watching your Bruneian series
Me crying inside when they try to translate the food name to english 😂😂 But good job guys, thank you for bringing Myers around. -Pucuk ubi (the vege) - Cassava leave -Urat - beef tendon -Ambuyat - is from a trunk of sago palm tree, they blend it to form a powder and they mix it with boiled water untill it bcom slimmy consistency
Ambulong came from a tree trunk call Pohon Rumbia when it cut grater to take the sago but it need a step by step prosses. As the sauces they are many variaty Cicah as we call it like Tempoyak, Binjai, Mambangan, Pidada, Tamarind Sauce, Budu Kupang, Cincaluk all this must in spicey sweet and tangy flavour. Can be eaten with Ampap, Ikan Rebus, Fried Fish , Sayur Kangkung, Sayur Pakis and Daging Cincangan in tumeric spice 👍. Hope you enjoy our Brunei local a must try food.😊
This video makes me surely purely hungreyhhh !!! Well done Mr.Myers : for covering the topic about Good Bruneian Local Favourite food , anyday , anytime of the week ! So now U know why Bruneians are sooooo Chubby , yeah 😀😁😂 Our food are sooooo yummy , and yummy is goodness , not necessarily healthy tho , Ahahahahaha 😅😂🤣😅😂🤣
next week I am going to Brunei and that the reason I watch your video since the first one, hope it can help me cause this is my first times travel to Brunei. really want to try the Ambuyat 😄. Oya Thank you Myer for the good vlog 👍
Ambuyat with different names in Sabah ,Sarawak and parts of Indonesian Islands. In Indonesia it is known as papada. But the way the people eat is different. 10:35 They don't have special stick made of bamboo ,like chopstics which are not separated at the end On the Island of Ternate the people eat it with other dishes and pour then on top and use spoon or fork.
It's a muslim culture. So welcoming, because Islam oriented Muslims believe in blessings from God for being nice, hospitable and generous to fellow God's creations.
Forgive Me Myer, but what was that white jelly looking thing? Although Id eat any shellfish, the Beef looked amazing. That's soup looks very tasty! Peace from da Bx!!!
'Urat' is basically blood vessels. Period ( Sorry for being American here a bit 😅😁). So the veins or arteries of the animal are cut out and cooked in water which essentially gives the soup that 'beefy' taste. But I highly doubt it that it's just the veins and arteries of the animal that are used here. It's also the fatty tissues or adipose tissues ( in combination of the perfectly and brilliantly selected herbs and spices, of course) are added in, and to me personally, this is what fundamentally provides the real flavor here! That not only beefy taste but also that greasy and buttery, succulent sensation that you get after a sip or two. Oh man, I got to get off this topic right now. Merely talking about it, is apparently enough to make my mouth water 😅🤣Anyways, that's what I know for the most part when it comes to this particular dish. I'm certain this beef soup exists in most parts of this world, but it just differs from one country, or even from one community or village, or ethnic group to another in terms of preparation, ingredients used and handling of the dish when it comes to actually cooking it.
Cassava or tapioca leaves cook with coconut milk added wth shrimp paste etc.The African lile the Nigerian cook Fufu made of cassava an plaintain but not slimy abd clear as ambuyat.Yam flour also mixed with liquid to form paste and they ear with curry .
Not every Bruneians eat Ambuyat "everyday". Not sure who is telling you this. I have been living in Brunei for decades and I do not eat Ambuyat "everyday"
yk neighbouring countries often have similar dishes right? fried rice is originally from china, but why are there a lot of indonesians claiming it? if you think about it, even dumplings have many variations depending on the country. it's not a big deal, these countries probably have their own version of Soto
@@ArchieLifts ambuyat is just another name for papeda, just like nasi lemak malaysia and nasi uduk indonesia. And others are just basic homemade indonesian food. Satay is from indonesia too. That cucur udang is actually from malaysia
