I had the same team of warriors when I played the game :) I remember wanting to win the first time I faced the boss, so I boosted my characters until they all reached Level 50.
@DeathZ199x First-off, you need to speak the language of the Lefeinish in order to be able to speak to them. In order to do THAT, you must get the stone slab. The stone slab is located on the top floor of the sea shrine. Once you have the slab, bring it to Dr. Unne in Melmond and he will teach you the language of the Lefeinish. Then, once you speak their language, go back to them and speak to them all, one of them will give you a "chime"...THAT is what you need to enter the Mirage Tower.
The old games had to rely more on story to keep you interested in it, than on fancy graphics that seem to plague the newer fantasy RPGs. I may have outgrown this style, but the story is forever in my heart!
I got this game for Christmas when it first came out. It was my first RPG. I didn't really know what I was doing. After a while, I got the hang of it. It took me a few months, but I eventually beat the game. That was a pretty big deal considering I was only 9 years old at the time.
I have this game on my iPod Touch. Considering that I am a FPS Guy (Call of Duty, Halo, etc.), never in a thousand years had I imagined that I would enjoy an RPG. Once I got this game, however, I was amazed. Incredible game.
Oh man, I remember absolutely smashing Chaos. My first party in original FF was Fighter, Fighter, FIghter, Red Mage. Stupid expensive in terms of gold, but also able to kill Garland at level 1 with no difficulty. I remember getting to Masamune with almost 70 potions left, then Warping out to save with Masamune. Then never being able to get back to that point with enough potions left to make it to the end. Second time was Fighter, Black Belt, Thief, White Mage, and oh man. Two, maybe three turns of combat, without using buffs, and Chaos was down.
Kid in 1987: man this battle theme is repetitive. Alright I’m ready for the final boss let’s see what nobuo uematsue has for us this time. (Enters battle and hears the same basic battle theme) Fuuuuuuuuuuuuu********************!!!!!

@SSFF6B The only hard thing about the NES version is the fact that you have to spare your spell charges, wich was fine but was somehow a bad thing too, because it made magic so much underpowered in this game. They made it better in FF3j (which actually IS a hard game)
SquareSoft was on his last leg when they made the first FF, this game was their last shot before the studio was going to get closed forever dont expect it to have lots of animations or more music they didnt had the resources
easy win though, chaos did crap...would have been better if he did zap on your white wizard at the beginning so it's be harder, or used cure4 on itself
YES. I remember this game being so ridiculously hard lol I also remember now why I don't play FF anymore....MANY sleepless nights that went to these games lol
I appreciate the lo-fi recording. Remind me of playing this on the NES back in the day on a good old CRT television. That said, I absolutely hate this game!
@@80sForever29 The battles aren't slow. It's just that a lot of people don't know that you can increase the text speed by changing the "response rate" in the title screen so they just played on the lowest possible

And don't forget Warmechs, the hardest "normal" ennemies in the game, but gives you a lot of gold and experience. You can find them only in the desert tower, guarded by Tiamat, elemental of air.
This was my third RPG ever. I ended up accidentally playing through 2/3 of the game with my characters completely naked, since the other RPGs I'd tried up to then didn't require you to manually equip weapons and armor after buying them. I didn't notice the difference for most of the game because I'm OCD about level grinding.
I beat Chaos in 3 rounds today. I didn't realize you could beat him with level 25-30 characters so all my characters were around level 35. My ninja didn't even get the chance to attack.
I've just got to this part of the game and was finding it really difficult. And I've only just now realised that other players besides mages can use magic......

Chaos likes pineapple on pizza.
No he likes anchovies
He likes liver and onions topped with blue cheese dressing

If you beat FF1 NES on actual hardware and record it on a VCR then you’re a FF master!
