    Vince, liked the vid. 10:04 While you were saying tolerances, I’m shouting at screen, looks about a 32nd or so😂 Don’t think would interfere with “work”; as most ppl doing carpentry work, take stuff like that into account, imo (least I do. It’s also why before cut a production piece, start w/ scrap to text fitment; even if using my everyday saw....)
    Gotta question, or 3, lol. Was this saw delivered, if so, was it delivered in the box (or was the box inside a shipping box....as should be for “protection”), & how was the “state” & process of the delivery(had to sign)?
    Would like to see Milwaukee (& other Tool brands), take a page from Tech companies & ship tools w/ the better high density foam....as these tools aren’t cheap, & like em to arrive undamaged 💪🏼
    10:23 Have done that myself BEFORE (not this saw); don’t feel bad cuz😅, cuz your saw at least didn’t end up on the ground like mine😩
    Would like to see 4x4 pressure treated or even 6x on this saw. Have seen some issues with that dust guard/shoe rubbing, or hitting the material.
    Thx for the look. Cheers✌🏼

      The foam seemed really good and the saw was packed well, but it did not have an outer box, only the product box.

      The dust chute will interfere with material as well as the fence if the fence isn’t move out. I must say the dust collection is stellar!

      VCG Construction Bothers me when they don’t put in shipping box, & just slap label on it. Have had Depot do this (& other companies) once in awhile on different tools. Just that, shipping companies, aren’t the most careful with packages😉. Also, leaving a tool on doorstep (any brand) just says....steal me; which, big problem in my neighborhood. Have had large tools put in boxes, & small left in retail box, lol, no rhyme or reason of “what policy” is. Depot actually told me, CS Dept. that all tools being shipped, “Should” be in an Home Depot shipping box, w/ label on the box; AND not on the retail packaging box.
      Thx for the reply & vid. ✌🏼

      That was about 10-15 thou. (0.010"-0.015" or 3/256"-1/64" or 0.25-0.38 mm) No one is capable of taking that into account when cutting wood on a miter saw. You touch the wood with clammy hands and the wood will move more than that. (Hyperbole) How would you take that into account? Put an aluminum can shim under the other end of the wood?

    I acctually just attached my old ELU saw to the Packout last week. Downloaded some 3d parts on Thingiverse and attached them on a bit of plywood. Works great. But I hope Milwaukee will come out with some drawer boxes. I keep my tools in the boxes on site to have control, and lifting the saw on and off all the time is a hassle. But over all i am happy. Since i have the 3d machine, it cost me 2$ :) Love the saw, and thanks for the video.
    Have a nice day.

    Received this saw for Christmas this year. Replaced my corded dewalt 12” sliding double bevel that I’ve been rockin for the last 20 years. So far I’m loving it. Turned the dewalt into my rough cut saw and keeping the Milwaukee set up for precision cuts equipped with the diablo ultra finish blade. Put that included Milwaukee blade on my rough cut saw 😉 also love the shadow line. Way better then a laser; always accurate even with different kerf sizes. The table and fences can be adjusted but nice when they’re good out of the box.

    • @MattEllermets
      @MattEllermets 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Somebody should make one that charges the battery if you plug it in, and has 120 volt pass through output that is only hot when you hit the trigger. Then you could use it inside and not actually have the delay of the shop vac relay. And you could also use it outside in battery mode with no dust collection

    I’ve had the 7 1/4” saw for over a year and love it. As far as I can tell this 12” is in between the 7 1/4 and 10” saws in terms of quality with the 7 1/4 being great and the 10” having issues. I like cordless miter saws not for portability but because I don’t have to worry about fighting people for extension cords on the job site.

    Price is a bit steep. I have to replace a couple my saws this year. At $900.00 I think I would go Makita only because I have had Makita saws for 30 + years and I think Makita is a better built saw. Also for what I do corded stationary saws are fine. As a side note, I have a 6 1/2" German Kapex miter saw. It is the Mercedes of saws and I like my 25 year old Craftsman better LOL. Thanks again Vince. Awesome video sir.

    I have been thinking about the stand idea for the top of the pack out for a year and I find it funny that they do sell the extra bracket for the wall mount and all they have to do is reverse it so you could mount a spoil board to it and bolt the saw. I wonder if it is in the works? It should be...

  • @danduncanson4222
    @danduncanson4222 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Vince brother I always enjoy your reviews. It would.be awesome if you did one on dialing in this saw. A true setup if you will. Focus on the saws features. As far as the set up goes simply rip a piece of 1/2" sheet good melamine works great. You want one long rip to the maximum crosscut width that the saw is capable of cross cutting and another long length that the saw is capable of cutting nested vertically vertically.push the melamine up against the flat surface of the fence and check that the fence is true, cross cut that piece @ 0° flip the right side over after cutting and push the materials back together. Make adjustments to the preset lock locations until there is absolutely no gap. Lock it down tight and that saw will never need to be adjusted ever again. Repeat this process with the nested material at 0° lock it down when one side is flipped and rejoined with no gap.
    Then set your stops bang on at 45°on the bevel cut nested @45° left bevel cut flip one side and join on a flat surface adjust stops if needed repeat again on the right bevel. If you take the time on a brand new saw like this to dial it in to perfection it will be true for the life of the saw. Most all of the saws on the market need these steps done to ensure perfection regardless of the make of the saw. I am a yacht Joiner by trade and this method is the key to dialing in your saw before cutting heavy hardwood crown moldings and fine woodworking

    That is an awesome idea about the Packout system with a mounting plate!
    We have (when I say we, I mean my dad and I as my wife and I share a 2 family home with my parents, the home I grew up in) had 3 different miter saws, and for what I do, the smallest one, which is like an 8" (I think we have an 8, 10 and 12) is a sliding compound miter and the one I use the most, and I love it. If we did not already have those, and I was going to buy one, I surly would buy and M18 one.
    I get the idea of the cordless job site, I was actually talking to someone about the concept the other day, but I think for these larger, stationary power tools, they should make an AC adapter for them.

  • @MostlyPeacefulCombatVet

    Thanks for the vid @VCG Construction. This will have to be a 2020 write off. Gotta have a "back up" ya know. Just incase one of the ol' sexy flexy's go down again. Can't ever have too many tools. 😎
    You should be able to dial that thing in 100%.... The only saw we haven't had to really spend time on out of the box was a flexy 12" double bevel compound Non-sliding. A couple quick adjustments and it is sitting on perfection level 100. The flexy sliders were out probably close to the fuel you have. Dewalt is always a couple degrees out in the bevel. No matter corded or cordless. Easy fix though. Fence + minor Filing = problem solved on the fences.
    How about a M18 FUEL vs FLEXVOLT miter saw TTR?
    I want the milwaukee to be the best, as I like their battery platform better, and the warranty is a big deal to us. However, DeWalt knows saws. Very well.
    But Hey..... I'm just glad we're able to run our smaller jobs (additions, etc) and all our builds "pre temp power" completely cordless if we want. In a world where materials are so much higher, skilled employees cost more, insurance is higher, taxes is brutal, etc. And where clients want a home to look like everything on hgtv and Pinterest, and also want to be net zero ready (meaning a high performance, air tight, super insulated home) and want to spend less money, (Not possible unless they downsize big time) us builders and the crew need all the help we can get for efficiency, speed, power, safety, and all around convenience. Building gets a little more fun every time we get a new tool. 😂
    Thanks again brother!👍👍👍

    Looks like a nice saw. I think I would pass on the Packout mod for a few reasons. I think it could make rolling it too awkward and top heavy. And not having it on a mobile miter stand means you end up having to make do with whatever the environment provides (some of which provide nothing but ground or floor space, which is not efficient and a pain having to go to the floor every time). If the Packout was expected to be "the saw stand", that brings additional issues, like opening up any of those boxes. Also, I wouldn't want dust and crap all over my Packout so that it can find it's way inside the boxes. And something else to consider is that when you have a miter stand, the saw is "permanently" fastened to it (probably for the life of the saw), and so we can just fold and roll without worrying about taking the saw on and off. But with the Packout mod, you would have to frequently mount and unmount the saw, and while that in itself would get old really quickly, you would also be putting the saw at risk of being damaged. For example, you just set the saw on top without "clicking" it in, because you plan on taking it right back off in a few minutes. But that few minutes turns into 2 hours, because an employee just sidetracked you onto something else more pressing. Then, when you finally get back, you forget that the saw isn't fastened in and you grab the handle of the Packout, tilt it to roll out, and the saw slides right off and drives it's metal parts right into your forearms or hands, and possible crashing down right onto the floor, ground, or pavement. It looks cool though, with all the additional red. :)

    You are funny Vince.
    Very entertaining. Utube are doing my head in with their unsolicited advertisements.
    I'm halfway through so looking forward to the machine in action. I notice you mention the machine is not precise precise although not bad. I guess lightness in manufacturing aluminium may mean certain tolerances. I came across the building guru who actually tweaks machines like dewalt or festool to have very precise cuts to a closer tolerance.
    I know even my kapex can be better after checking with an engineer square has a slight gap say like .15 mm.

    Great video-sat out the entire 27 mins to watch it.The design is great but like you said the 45s were nearly perfect-to framers near perfect is not good-i suppose you might have overlooked something in the set up or Milwaukee have to say something about it.Great show once more.

    That's the only reason why I went with the DeWalt corded table saw and chop box because I believe they are stationary tools and basically once you set them up that's where they stay for most of the day if not the whole day if Milwaukee came out with the same thing at the DeWalt with the battery cord combo I want to purchase the Milwaukee but the reason why is I believe those tools should have full power all the time

    Vince, If you get the 48-22-8431 low profile small parts organizer, remove the lid, lid latch hardware, and trays, you can then bolt that to the bottom of the saw. That will then latch onto the top of your Packout stack. It's $40 @ HD

    • @davidrosing5788
      @davidrosing5788 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or, if it fits better (and I did this with my Husky tool tote for my custom half-width Packout stack) , bolt the saw into the Packout small parts organizer lid, then at least you still have storage under the saw. Then the saw will latch onto the Packout stack and unlatch like a regular Packout system when needed.

    Can you not make adjustments if the blade is out?

  • @usplusfive5968
    @usplusfive5968 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does the fence not have two adjustment screws on it to micro adjust the fence on one side or the other to square to the blade and other fence? As you say 1/32 over 4 inches is amplified to 3/32 at blade full cut capacity. A 1/16 with finish carpentry is make or break some times. I just bought the dewalt dw779 and it has two fence adjustments screws on each side. If Milwaukee doesn’t have these then that’s an unacceptable tolerance, and the reason dewalt beats Milwaukee.

    How does it cut Aluminum?

  • @jasonpfister3629
    @jasonpfister3629 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Has there been an answer to the question about the extra holes on the handles ? Is that for storing the handles on the saw ? I have been trying to look up what they are there for but have been unsuccessful thus far. Can somebody help with this ?

    • @jasonpfister3629
      @jasonpfister3629 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Disregard that message. Crown stops are available to mount on the handle in that position. The threaded holes are simply for the locking nut. Can’t believe I didn’t see that immediately but now I know and I hope someone on here can learn the purpose of the slots and holes on the handles. If miter saw is mounted on a stand, there are bottom mounted stops that can be purchased.

  • @jasonbabila6006

    I always check my miter saw to see if the blade is squared to the fence and table before use and make any adjustments if needed.
