Nice upgrade! Can’t wait to hear your opinion after you have it all dialed in. Warm weather is right around the corner. It’s going to be a great summer. Really enjoying your videos.
Congratulation Scott, the Kitfox 4 is looking great now with the upgrade, next I guess on your bucket list I imagine would be larger tyres and a bigger tailwheel ! Are you going to cover the Cabane gear with skins? A new paint job and you'll be all set........I'm glad that you are back posting videos!
Really useful to see what goes into retro-fitting the Shock Monsters. Definitely look forward to hearing what range of pressure you like running them at too. Awesome vlog as ever - thanks for sharing and keep 'em coming :)
Nice job Scott, I did the same with my experimental clip wing Cub, only I used Acme Black Ops shocks. Added 6 pounds over stock bungees but I gained 5 mph in cruise and best of all they make me look like I’m a much better pilot than I really am.
Scott nice improvement on the landing gear. Enjoyed you showing how install the gear. Sometimes modifications have to happen to line things up. Thanks again for the video. Time to use that gear in bush country! Have a great time, low and slow!
Nice upgrade and they look to work fine your sticking the landings, for what little video you did awesome keep the videos coming and thanks for sharing.
Looking good bro! You must have just finished the gear when you taxied by my hangar at KMAN (the one full of planes ) as you looped around to steve henrys and then disappeared. love to go flying with ya.
Woodstock is looking great with the new gear! Glad to see some more stuff from you and looking forward to checking in on your summer adventures! Next up, replace the pizza cutter! Blue skies my friend!
Scott,, You nailed it dude!! So happy you got your upgrade!! Now go out with the cow boys and do what you guys do best!! Having fun!! 👍👍👍 on your Vlog!! As I always say to you Cow boys!! Fly Low,,, Fly Safe,,, G-Man
I agree, like it. Does the brake lines you put on put up with the punishment that the braided lines do off pavement? I know that one thing I noticed about your install is that they are mounted externally on the new brackets for the gear, is that normal or just your install. Wonder about high brush or rocks and the lines exposed. I not trying to be negative, just building a knowledge for my build in the near future. Definitely want the shocks and gear mod. Really like watching your channel.
Awesome Scott! Now you just need some JATO boosters and you'll have a Draco Slayer! Oh, and if you're not using those Grove gear anymore, I know a guy that's working on a Model 3 and could use them... Great work on the filming and keep the adventures coming! God Bless!
It looks great however i would be concerned that it was so difficult to install and that as you said the brackets on the plane were not square so is there any part of the new gear frame stressed out just because of the install problems?
Come up to Anchorage Alaska I'm a pilot as well flying is a whole new world up here. If u ever want to come up my family owns a remote fish camp in the Bush. We have a few planes. Grab a buddy and come visit!
Been waiting for another video! Great, very informative. Slow down a little bit when you pan so I can see what you did. All in all, really enjoyed your video.
Scott at looks really cool I would like to know more about the gear cost where you got it and applications for tail wheel or craft the manufacture need to put some website or something in there for that thanks
Hahahaha... nice job of catching that ground loop that tried to get started on the first dirt landing. Did that mod really slow the airplane down by 40mph?
@@ScottPalmerair The best 30mph you ever lost . Its always funny to me when people talk about top cruise speed in STOL aircraft .!!!!. Who needs a fast Kit Fox or ... a fast J-3/ S-Cub? LOL!.
@@jamesjanssen2378 Less drag is ALWAYS better, even for STOL ops. forget the cruise, better glide if dead stick, higher rate of climb, longer range it all gets better with less drag. Been there, done that.
Scott I have the same set up. Wondering what the tire pressure is. I was told by airstreak 8 psi. Also John at kitfox told me 100 psi with the kitfox ss 7 monster shocks. Let me know what your final setting is. Thanks Tom Upstate NY
I don't have kitfox legs so my setup may be different than yours. Kitfox 7 is minimum 100 pounds heavier than my 4. PSI on the Shocks and Wheels is a personal thing that is dictated by the above and landing style. Right now i am at 6psi on my 26" airstreaks and 200 psi in my shocks
Curious why the shocks use nitrogen versus just compressed air? Could you use a shock pump in a pinch if you needed to add air if you had leakage or accidentally let too much out or it got cold and too squishy?
Brandon Schmit Aviation uses nitrogen to keep moisture out of the system. Most compressed air has a good amount of water in it depending on humidity. If the moisture gets in the strut system it could lead to corrosion.
I was told the nitrogen is a larger molecule so it's less prone to leaking out. I have heard of people just using compressed air from a shock pump in a pinch
Don’t worry about the lack of flying content - any content with you guys “just mucking about with planes” is good content.
I really enjoyed this video Scott... Hope you are doing well and making more? Always love your enthusiasm!
That Bird Dog was awesome! Love that thing! Thanks for showing it.
Luv it ... "Spend money to go slower" ... Rock N Roll
More KF back country Scott! If you run out f mountain tops or valleys, you’re welcome up at the Rathole in the Olympics
Scott, those monster shocks are looking good!
Thanks
Some flying, some wrenching, the change up is good!
Love the transformation Scott and Cade. It looks fantastic. So happy you both are enjoying it.
Thanks for the support Steve
So cool guys! That thing just sticks now!
Nice upgrade! Can’t wait to hear your opinion after you have it all dialed in. Warm weather is right around the corner. It’s going to be a great summer. Really enjoying your videos.
Glad to see you got it done Scott. Now you're making me want one on my plane.
Thanks for the moral support! do it.
I love the idea of the Monster Shocks, but I don't think I can handle raising the nose any higher.
Boom! Let's go flying! 💥👍🏻🤠
Put your plane together and lets go.
You guys really have a good thing going on!!! Awesome. Cory is the bomb!! Take care y’all
Fly Low,,, Fly Safe,,,
G-Man
I know right! I’ve been so busy I’ll be lucky to get it done before SnF
Looks sick!
Terrific setup. Looks really nice! Hoping we get to see some Idaho backcountry landings on your blog this Summer!
You can count on it
That landing gear is just gorgeous!!!!
I agree
Pat and Cade cool reconstruct video. Nice work! Promise me a ride
Hi, Scott. Enjoyed watching you replace your gear. Looks great and I hope it helps! Love watching all of you Flying Cowboys videos and vlogs.

Are you going to cover the Cabane gear with skins? A new paint job and you'll be all set........I'm glad that you are back posting videos!
Thank you 😊 I installed a temporary larger tail wheel today. I would like to cover the gear legs with something, I just haven’t decided what yet
Killer set up looks like it really soaks up the rough landings, now you got to go test it on the Idaho gravel bars while the water is still low!
I went looking today. But the water level is high everywhere I went
Really useful to see what goes into retro-fitting the Shock Monsters. Definitely look forward to hearing what range of pressure you like running them at too. Awesome vlog as ever - thanks for sharing and keep 'em coming :)
Thank you
Upgraded performance with a side benefit of enhanced aesthetics with it's new stance, sweet !
Nice job Man! Awesome vlog, fun and look forward to the next one!
Thank you
It’s crazy watching this video all this was done at the airport I’m currently training at
The plane looks awesome with that new gear. Also, Great vlog!! Really enjoying the videos you are putting together.
Thank you.
Nice job on the gear. Looks pretty Sweet!
Sometime flyin is really about all of it and fixin/changin/modifyin stuff is tops on that list.
I agree. I love to tinker
Dang! Safety glasses @ 3:42 !
Nice job Scott, I did the same with my experimental clip wing Cub, only I used Acme Black Ops shocks. Added 6 pounds over stock bungees but I gained 5 mph in cruise and best of all they make me look like I’m a much better pilot than I really am.
That's great, The Black op has a nice small drag profile compared to my Monsters. I wish i gained cruise :)
Sweet, fun times around the corner.
I have a soft spot for a Bird dog Cessna.. Would make a great hotrod bushplane with a few mods !!
Hey I recognize that airport, welcome to Caldwell!

Congrats on the Shockmonster gear!!
Thank you
That looks awesome !! Great work Scott !
Nice upgrade and they look to work fine your sticking the landings, for what little video you did awesome keep the videos coming and thanks for sharing.
Hi Scott. Any chance next time you use that 45 deg angle air drill you could tell me the manufacture and perhaps the part number, thanks.
Bigger Tires! You NEED Bigger Tires! Love the new landing gear, it's going to really change how you land.
Mike and Mark need to get you guys a Best Tug or two. It's extra advertising after all.
That would be pretty sweet
Love the look of the bush gear. Great video
Good to see you again
That gyro'ed tail wheel cam is sweet!
More footage from that please!
Looking good bro! You must have just finished the gear when you taxied by my hangar at KMAN (the one full of planes ) as you looped around to steve henrys and then disappeared. love to go flying with ya.
That must have been just prior to doing the gear. Let's fly
Anytime your at Nampa, just go to the tower grill and ask for the owner (Nate) he can put us in contact.
Woodstock is looking great with the new gear! Glad to see some more stuff from you and looking forward to checking in on your summer adventures! Next up, replace the pizza cutter! Blue skies my friend!

I saw your plane in there at Caldwell and I was wandering what you were up to. Nice upgrade!

gee she looks mean, love the wheel spread, all the best from Australia

Where do you live? Love planes. With it so wet this year we had to get our peas crop dusted. They do amazing. I can watch them for hours.
Scott is your dad a pilot also? I love it that your brother Cade is also a KITFOX pilot .
Yes he is! Fighter pilot for 20+ years and both Cade and I’s instructor
Awesome upgrade, awesome vlog 👊🏻
Thanks
Who's Mallard/Albatross was that at 4:24? Literally my dream plane. Except I'd convert it to turbo-prop.
It looks great however i would be concerned that it was so difficult to install and that as you said the brackets on the plane were not square so is there any part of the new gear frame stressed out just because of the install problems?
Wow quite a project!
Nice job, blog is great keep up the good work.
Looking forward to some watching some flying adventures! Gear looks incredible!
Great video! Very interesting. I will be watching for a video after you reach a decision on pressure.
man that o1 and that kid look cool excellent video man
Hi from Australia. Great videos.
Hi from the farm :) thanks
Looks great. Now to change the tail wheel. Just looks so tiny.
Yea i know.....it's coming
I bet this will help avoid ground looping and give more control on touch down
Hopefully
@645 L5 stinson.. my dad first soloed on that kind of plane in the ph..
i like it--great work

That gear would be nice on a Pitts...with wheel pants of course!
Tony has made a set for a pits with wheel skirts
Been waiting for another video! Great, very informative. Slow down a little bit when you pan so I can see what you did. All in all, really enjoyed your video.
Happy to be back! Glad you’re enjoying it. Thanks for the tip
What tires did you settle on? I couldn’t tell from the video.
Nice video guys
Scott at looks really cool I would like to know more about the gear cost where you got it and applications for tail wheel or craft the manufacture need to put some website or something in there for that thanks
Cost is around 4k for that particular set up. Check out TK1racing.com Tony can make custom gear for anything.
Nice dude I’ve been in that shop, those guys rock!
Thanks bro!!
Sweet action!
sweet! put that new gear to work!
Everyday!
Scott, can you tell us the name of the music used in this video? Good work on the gear!
Would a small gauge and a pump work so you adjust on the fly the shock pressure or is it even needed?
Looks great!
Looking good!!!
Enjoyed the video as usual. I'm building a Just Aircraft SuperSTOL in AZ. Would love to meet up and fly with you. Keep the vids coming!
Will you be posting to your channel? I am in Flagstaff plotting my own SuperSTOL build (some day).
Awesome stuff! I love watching this kind of thing. Congrats on the upgrades. Have fun!
Thank you
Looks great!!!! but you gotta do something about that tail wheel! :P Looks out of place now
Looks sick man! Nice!
Nice video Brother
fricking awesome!
maybe a better radiator for the next upgrade round?
My radiator is actually the upgraded aluminum one
@@ScottPalmerair okay
I know this is an old video, but what was the actual speed penalty. I bought Ty"s old gear by the way.
What is useful load on this aircraft?
awesome stance!
Boom 💥 sure is
Hahahaha... nice job of catching that ground loop that tried to get started on the first dirt landing.
Did that mod really slow the airplane down by 40mph?
hahah no not really. I lost 5-7 MPH on that mod. since i bought it as a nose wheel airplane with little tires i have lost 30mph

Hi Scott, did you sale the grove gear you took of your 4 ?
29's, you NEED 29's, go big or go home! There is a big difference between 26's and 29's in the cush factor. You want the spinner well above your head!

Will forcing the cabane on the mount cause any stress?

Surfing the net and got your alarm. Watching now. Enjoying. Thx.
Thanks for following along
Nice set up but those brake lines look pretty vulnerable to being ripped off by bushes, did you cover them with anything?
Thank you, yes the brake line routing was fixed since the video
resubscribed. Nice to have you back
Awesome bro!!!
Scott what airport is this?
