Great video, i like how you took the time to really seek as many good coasters from everywhere as possible and all the year highlights with news articals that remind people of the years, some crazy years too! Lol
I think the 70s in general was probably the most important decade for coasters because they started to resurge into popularity again. You also had very important achievements such as the first steel coaster to take you upside down and the first vertical looping coaster. It also had two of the most influential coaster company’s in history. Arrow and Schwarzkopf. Without these 2 company’s we probably wouldn’t have many great coasters today. They would set the standard for coasters and parks would try to break these records over and over which would lead to the coaster wars which some would argue started in the 70s with coasters like the revolution and corkscrew trying to see who could open the first coaster with a vertical loop.
I agree about the importance of the coasters in the 70s, be it Racer, Revolution, Corkscrew, Beast but I think that's a topic for another video. This was focusing on the quality and quantity that each year had to bring, which is why nothing on this list was older than 1994.
Airtime Thrills I would love to see a video on the coasters in the 70s and their impact on future coasters. I don't know if cedar point is even gonna get a new coaster for 2020. If it was a large coaster they said that they would already be starting construction. So my hopes are down.
CP just got Steel Vengeance, one of the most ambitious coasters ever constructed. It would be stretching their budget (even for CP) a little to far to put yet another insane coaster for their 150th.
Cedar Point and Kings Dominion will both receive a new coaster in 2021. The only Cedar Fair parks getting any coasters in 2020 is Orion at Kings Island and Woodstock Express at Michigan's Adventure. Kings Island is my home park and Cedar Fair has been very good to us. They attempted to keep Son of Beast and after putting several million into the coaster it still had too much wrong with it. The coaster was inherited by Paramount in which it had problems from the start. We recieved in 2007 Firehawk formerly known as X Flight from Six Flags Ohio and is now defunct due to mechanical problems but it was a coaster installation from Cedar Fair to Kings Island. The next coaster came in 2009 Diamondback a B&M Hyper coaster which is a great airtime coaster and a top 10 coaster. In 2014 we got Banshee another B&M Invert another great coaster and in 2017 we recieved Mystic Timbers a GCI woodie and is still a great wood coaster. In 2020 we are getting our first biggest B&M Giga coaster Orion. This new coaster may not break records however from the illustrations and such it looks to be a top 10 coaster to be ranked. It is going to change the skyline of Kings Island forever! Thank you Cedar Fair for being so good to Kings Island. Yes we deserved a Giga and now finally getting it. 2020 will be a great year!
