thank you for following my videos. it really means a lot. :) And I'm sorry for your experience, I too have gone through such occasions (specially typhoon Haiyan way back 2013). okay for your question, building a typhoon or earthquake proof (or resistant) house would rely mostly in the structural stability of the house. It would be quite a long talk if I were to detail them one by one. Some of them are •Take advice from your nearest professional (Civil or Architect). •Have your house structure designed by a civil engineer •Check your local government for the highest flood level and design the elevation with that in mind. •if possible, avoid disaster prone areas and check the drainage system of your location. •make sure proper flood tests done for slab roofing. •Roof trusses should be securely connected to the structure (columns and beams) •columns to have at least 2cm of concrete cover •vertical and horizontal bars for the walls must be connected to the columns and beams. •Check house foundation to have proper thickness, soil properties, designed with seismic forces • Avoid placing pipes inside columns. there are many many ways to make your house sturdy. It's impossible to name them all here. It is still best to seek advice from a professional. or you can also check the HANDBOOK ON Good Building Design and Construction In the Philippines. Hope this helps.
