These proxies remind me of one of my friends favorite past times. He used to regularly buy power 9 proxies/dual proxies from a really solid shop that made great looking ones, then he'd drop them on the ground outside of an LGS on a rainy day. Enough that it wasn't super easy to spot so that it could seem like a tragic accident. Then he'd just play games and watch for the person who has a heart attack at finding a power 9 sitting in a puddle.

You had a lot of foil tokens, they went by pretty fast so I didn't really catch any im particular out, but some can be buylisted pretty easily.

The zombie warrior token at 6:13 is worth around $4 if you care. Can't imagine it would be easy to find at this point though. 😬

I bought a collection from ShopGoodwill 12 years ago. Had a full set of power plus some duals and other ABU staples. Only paid $11k for the collection.
I caught a couple things you missed. Mostly Mayhem Devil, its $2-3 and some of those tokens/emblems can hold some value. Fun video though.
Surprised he would miss Mayhem Devil the card was in a lot of decks before it rotated and then moved into decks in other formats.
Came to the comments to say this. Mayhem Devil is a cool card, and I wish I had more copies! Great art, great effect, and playable in many formats. Good value at uncommon!

I still remember a guy at a store I used to play at(that’s no longer in business) that supposedly got a dirt cheap shoe box at a yard sale and it had all these super expensive cards like a few dual lands, chalice of the void, force of wills, etc. he bragged about it all the time. He eventually had a few of the aforementioned cards in his trade binder so asked to look at a few out of the sleeve and immediately realized they were all fakes. The store owner also often had fake cards in the case for sale and once a customer would realize and ask for their money back or to be swapped out for a real one the fake would end up back in the case.
I think in general Goodwills got wise to the potential value in lots of MTG. This one looks like multiple lots picked through and all the bulk was put into that one box and sold as a lot. There still could be something in these lots but the chances are probably really bad they missed a big hit

This lot was clearly well combed over. Even the decent uncommons from the sets that there was a lot of commons from have been pulled. Nearly zero bulk rares. You would get better stuff from those re-packs they sell at the dollar store.
31:11 reckless fireweaver is a great card roughly a dollar. Also so many full art basics, maybe cheap now but people like jazzing up their land base.
Goodwill doesn't let anyone have fun with finds anymore lol. They pull out all the good stuff.
Right, once upon a time you could go to a flea market or garage/yard sale and find a box of cards with some gems in it. But now just about everyone knows MTG has value.
@@Burevix I remember in the early 2000s my friends and I went to the flea market to buy a box , I bought it for 100$ . There was a few Force of Wills , a Chain of Mephistopheles 😂
They need to be prohibited from getting anything NEAR fair market value, by law, in order to maintain nonprofit status.

Sorry if BLM offended anyone but its just one of the worst examples here in the US atm while there are plenty of others that do the same scam. Others like PETA are just annoying
@@Burevix- everyone has the internet now. You'd think a shop like Goodwill would be too busy to sit around looking stuff up on eBay, but I've seen people saying before that unpaid volunteers are set up doing exactly that. If anything charity shops are now naive in the opposite way; they know to look stuff up on eBay, but not to check sold vs listed prices and you'll see things in shops that were very obviously priced based off a few eBay Buy-It-Nows that will never sell for the asking price, but the charity shops see it and run with it. 🙄

not surprised, anymore you dont really have kids picking up magic or parents dumping old sets without a quick google to see what to watch for. even just pulling all rare cards and taking them to a local card shop/ebay is worth the time if you had more than $10 worth

One note: In my opinion, I think it would be best to differentiate from proxies and counterfeits. When a card doesn't clearly state proxy on the front/back, It's trying to fake a real card and leads to new players being ripped off.
I have no problem with proxies, but I have a disdain for counterfeits.
I dont know if good will is the same in Canada as it is in the us but when i look it seems like they have someone who knows what their looking at

I used to buy bulk and sell bulk. Bulk tokens were certainly worth more than commons/uncommons, I'd suggest splitting them out and ebaying en masse, you'll be surprised how much they go for.
Similarly, i'd filter out all cards with old style frames and sell those in a separate bulk listing, they will go for more than the rest. If you have a couple of bulk old border rares to throw in, that'll ramp that listing up too.
Finally, old border lands should be their own listing too.
Always love these style vids. I recently went through a box full of 4th to look for alternate ones. Super relaxing experience :)

I once won a bid on shop goodwill for $130, It contained about $800 in cards. Tried it a couple times since but never got my moneys worth except that first time.
I brought a random bunch of cards from an old shop owner for £100, it was a gamble but I found a mint condition wheel of fortune and a copy artifact.
Also 50 mins of whining ! I can’t believe I sat through the constant whinge. And then you ask for a like and subscribe! Lmao
120 cad and ended up with over 1k USD value. Had 2x rhystic studies, vampiric tutor, opposition agent, Etali, tiamat, exquisite blood, akromas will, ajani, strength of pride, etc. It was unreal. Not to mention it had a playmat and 6 deck boxes too. Doubt I'll do that well again.
I remember buying e-bay lots back around 2005. I eventually stopped because all but one lot were definitely scams for the time. The one that wasn't a scam I got a foil chrome mox which kind of paid for all the other bundles I paid for.
That said, I held on to all the cards and when I looked back through them in 2018 I found plenty of gems that seemed bad back in 2005 but had turned into some value all these years later.
Electrostatic field has only been printed once, so see if you can sell it before the Ravnica reprints! It must be so annoying to have the dual proxies -the only proxies I got from a friend have labels on the front like “not for sanctioned play” on them so that people won’t get their hopes up or ripped off for not having the real deal. Fine for commander but must be frustrating to include in collections.
Tough lot! There a few I saw worth 50 to 75 cents like the wanderer, eldest reborn, and nihil spellbomb. The foil fire prophecy should bring 75 cents to a dollar.

I saw a Bolt Bend in there toward the end. It's worth exactly one dollar lol. It's a strictly worse deflecting swat, but a commander staple IMO. Wish I had more copies for my many red commander decks.

Divest is a good pseudo-thoughtseize for sideboards, especially in Pauper. I play one copy in the sideboard of my Black Burn deck. It's nice to be able to pick out value creatures or combo pieces.
Tokens are worth a fortune. If the whole box was tokens it'd pay the whole box and then some.
A fat pack filled with tokens goes 30-50$$
There were some slug tokens for toxrill, the corrosive at 3:50 they are about 6 bucks a piece
Great video, you had a nihil spellbomb in the last 3-4 minutes that is a decent sideboard card for graveyard hate

I think I saw a couple stamped cards. Those should be preserved!
Siege Gang Lutenant, Skirk Proctector, Lightning Strike, Duress, Melfork Trickster, Spell Pierce, Unwind, Fire Prophecy, Saheeli, Goblin Electromancer, Lava Coil, Cast Down, Nihil Spellbomb, Garna, Slinn Voda, are playable card that you've skipped. Hope it helps!
I saw Bane of Bala Ged and Ulamog's Crusher, but boy have they fallen in price since the reprint.
Hello, there was a nihil spellbomb which is around 1$, some playbales like lightning strike or Arboreal Grazer but worth as much as tears which You had going through that bulk ;)

You missed Electrostatic Field and Kor Skyfisher. The skyfisher is under, but is a very played card in Pauper, a +EX card can still sell for +1$.
You passed a Soul Diviner aswell, not +1$ yet, but should rise when pirate commander players realize what it can do with finality counters.
Actually, there IS a market for proxy cards. They are probably worth 2 or 3 bucks apiece! People are always looking for them to build cubes.
Hey Matt, just wondering, what do you do with all the worthless bulk you accumulate? Do you bother sorting them for potentially reselling? Throw/give them away?

Here in Brazil we have many china proxys like that so, yes, if you get a box in the future they are going to have many of them
i recently went through my bulk, i go through it every couple of years and set aside things that are valuable or i might want to play, this time i found a playset of rhystic study, since it was a common in Prophecy and i didn't use to play commander I never realized they were valuable and they where just sitting in a box in my basement for 25 years, just goes to show you never know what could be in these, it all depends on what the owner knows...
Be sure to check all that 4th edition for Alternate
Back around 2010, i bought my buddy's collection off of him for 70 bucks. It had a grim monolith in it. Too bad i didnt hold on to it.
I've done a few random pokemon buys from storage units. Honestly done really well with them. Foil call of legend energies, charizrd ex full arts, other full art exs and older stuff.
Magic though..I did a 10,000 card buy from a school's magic club that was shut down a few years prior. Only card worth more than a few dollars was one mental misstep. Ended up using it to give people 25 dollar Commander decks to learn with

Some of the dragon tokens are worth a lot also dragons egg tokens in general I would price the tokens out some of them may suprise you.

This is clearly someone's bulk collection who bought a lot of boosters and picked over the playable cards to put in commander decks. Lots of tokens and art cards.
Out of my so far 8 collections of yugioh cards ive purchased there were only 3 who was minus and z
Two of them i gave back because the condition was not as mentioned in the ebay description and most of the stuff was bulk 😂😂 lucky me tough so only 1 minus collection so far . The best one by far jet was purchased for 360 and nearly 1100 of worth 🎉

Teferi time twist is very playable in my opinion.
Man! Imagine if those dual proxies were shown in the listing photos, the bid price would've been sky high and whoever bought it would've been SUPER pissed! Don't donate $$$ proxies to goodwill! (also don't proxy expensive cards without changing at least the back to show its a proxy!)

I've bought a bunch of lots for the goodwill site. Many of the stores pick the lots. If you think the employees aren't picking out the best cards and taking them for themselves you are mistaken. Some lots aren't picked but between the straight up bulk trash and picked lots you almost always come up a loser from this site. A few years ago it was a bit different where it was like 50/50 odds. Now your odds of getting something even breaking even is 1/20 at best.
Plant tokens can be worth more then other tokens
