    I just bought a Chinese carburetor for my 250 bigred for 30 dollars runs great.

      Hey Nathan, I have not looked at the China version on the ATC250ES carb lately, the china clone version I bought years ago was a little taller, a little different then the OEM carb, I should look at them again to see if they improved the physical copy.... I have used a lot of clone carbs, they all seemed to work well, they just don't like to sit around with gas in them.... Thanks for the info, Ur thoughts, watching, and commenting!!!

    I needed a carb for a Kawasaki Bayou 300.The Keihin was well over $300 for a new one so I thought I would give a clone a try,so I got one of those OEM/STD carbs at $50 and the Kawasaki has run better than it has in years.They look exacly the same but you can tell the difference in materials.

      Hey AppyDawgs, I did not realize that QEM/STD made carbs for Kawasaki 300 motors, I would of tracked one down for my Lakota... Thanks for the good info!!! Thanks also for Ur thoughts, watching, and commenting!!!

      Hey Appydawgs!!! Thanks for the link!!!! From what I see, the OEM-STD carbs look good, I have yet to fire up a ATV on one.... We will find out soon, hopefully, I get out to the garage and get the TRX250 running.... Thanks for the info, Ur thoughts, watching, and commenting!!!

    Not a metallurgical engineer or wevaTF it's called but believe in shop we learned that the more porous the casting is the dirtier the casting is.

    run non ethanol gas and shut fuel off when done playing....

    • @HarveySpooner
      @HarveySpooner  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Roger, Running the carbs out of gas helps, so does Stable.... BTW, do they sell non ethanol gas by U? I know they used to sell it in the Poconos, but, that was years ago.... Thanks for the advice, watching, and commenting!!!!

    • @rogeroconnor5182

      the only place to get non ethanol gas besides home depot is the marina. they sell 94 octane cam 2 i think. i have no idea how much it is,but i imagine it isnt cheap

    • @HarveySpooner
      @HarveySpooner  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Roger, My county does not sell non ethanol gas, I have to go to a neighboring county to get it.... Does not really pay to buy only a gallon or 2 as the gas pump and hose if full of regular, I figure the first 1/2 gallon or so is the same old stuff.... It costs about $ 0.75 more per gallon.... Thanks for the info, Ur thoughts, watching, and commenting!!!!!

      Hey Bob!!! I own a few plow and snow blower attachments that can be paired up with tractors or ATVs, every summer I feel like I'm too busy to set them up and once winter comes, it is too late.... Thanks for walking in my shoes!!! Thanks for Ur thoughts, watching, and commenting!!!

      Hey Bob, Wicked cold here also, 5F and very windy, I am slow walking toward clearing the driveway, I'm hoping that I have a personal sun spot swing by to melt it all for me.... Thanks for understanding, watching, and commenting!!!!!

    Great video, I have been trying to decide what to do about my 300ex carb because its pretty beat up, the choke is spring is broke so it just flaps in the wind. the throttle sicks and it had sand in it when i got it. So ill just get a china one and if anything brakes ill see if the og carb has the working part still.

    • @HarveySpooner
      @HarveySpooner  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jacob!!!! The carb I discussed in this video will fit right on Ur 300ex, if the rest of Ur 300ex is in nice shape, it would be worth the $89 to finish it up and make it easy to start.... Thanks for the info, Ur thoughts, watching, and commenting!!!

    • @HarveySpooner
      @HarveySpooner  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Moto!!!! I normally do not sell parts or machines.... Occasionally, if I find a non Honda machine, I'll buy it and depending on what it is, my son gets it or I trade or give it away.... Thanks for asking, watching, and commenting!!!

      Hey Roger, I have to admit, Ur response made me laugh, I have to remember that the next time someone is annoying me. I hear from Elvis a couple of times a month, it would be interesting to see if he is willing to travel a long distance for a China Quad repair, the pit bike sounds like it has more potential.... Thanks for the laugh, witty response, watching, and commenting!!!

      I will travel long distance. I love my pitbike and quad anything to get them running/ working again. Tried everywhere no one will help me fix them because there Chinese.

    Sometimes you can also get knock off carbs for less than a rebuild kit and you can just use parts and gaskets from the knock off to rebuild the genuine one

  • @briang4470
    @briang4470 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The knock off carbs are a good option for a bike that isn't worth alot or not perfect that you just wanna ride, but I would not recommend them for a multi cylinder bike because the tolerances vary to much and will make jetting a nightmare. For example I would recommend them if you had an old 300ex or something like that but I would not use them on something like a yamaha banshee or street bike, on something like that spend the money and buy genuine carbs it's a situation of you get what you pay for, btw good video

  • @ziggassedup
    @ziggassedup 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm going to guess that there is more alloy in the knock off...Alloy and alcohol don't go together real well...I'd get some fuel hose from a hobby shop to suit a nitro engine...It is rated for methanol.

    • @HarveySpooner
      @HarveySpooner  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey ZIG!!! U R right about the clone metal castings... I find that the China gas line does not hold up at all and as a matter of fact, I think some of it dissolves and gets deposited in the carb.... When I was a kid, there was a Ford Plant in Mahwah NJ that had their refuse brought up to a land fill a couple of miles from my house. They were always throwing away hose that worked perfectly as gas line. I never figured that 45years later, gas line would become such a problem.... Thanks for the info on the gas line.... Thanks also for Ur thoughts, watching, and commenting!!!!

    Clean non ethanol gas baby and that China built carb will last.

      Hey Kenneth!!! Non Ethanol gas with some Stabilizer in it seems to help a lot.... Thanks for the advice, Ur thoughts, watching, and commenting!!!

  • @ashleyrichards4241
    @ashleyrichards4241 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    We really don't experience the problem with carbs you have. It must be because our fuel isn't that watered down ethanol business

    • @HarveySpooner
      @HarveySpooner  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Ashley, The whole ethanol thing here in the USA just amazes me!!!! If one figures out the amount of fertilizer, cultivating, transportation, lost of fuel efficiently, and additional maintenance, I can not believe that it equals the reduction in pollution..... I guess the politicians here don't want to upset the farming states, in my opinion, send them $ and have them keep their ethanol... Thanks for the info, Ur thoughts, watching, and commenting!!!!

    I've noticed the clone carburetor has a tendency to idial high then low hard to make it idial perfect but I got pretty good now.

    • @HarveySpooner
      @HarveySpooner  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Nathan, Generally speaking, the China clone carbs are not machined as well as OEM carbs, some are a little fussier about being tuned and staying tuned, but, they do allow a bike to start, run, and ride for a low price.... Good job getting Urs set up properly.... Thanks for the info, Ur thoughts, watching, and commenting!!!!
