I've been fishing this area for about two years and variable results. Spring and early summer are the best before the weeds get too big. Mid to late summer when the weeds come in kind of sucks because they get really thick. The good thing about Pickering is that they don't use chemicals too kill off the weeds. However the mechanical method they use really clouds up the water in late summer. Really appreciate the compliments. I try to keep it pretty simple compared to other TH-camrs so that I can focus on the actual fishing!

Hey there loved your video. You have a very calm voice and fishing demeanor. How deep were the areas that were most productive for you? I have an inflatable kayak and would like to go next year but I won't be able to go more than once or twice. Any areas you recommend to stick to?
Thank you! I'd say most of the areas are maybe 15ft-ish. Midspring and early summer seemed to be the most productive for me. Once the weeds come in the summer the fishing is a little tougher as you are getting snagged everywhere. My favorite area is where the boats go out the channel. You have to stay a little over to the side so you don't get in their way. The side not closest to the lake but in the bay. There I've caught the biggest perch. Around some of the docks I've caught some nice largemouth bass. I've yet to catch a pike but see them regularly.
I used a variety. Soft plastic swimbaits (2-3") for the perch and bass have been my most successful. I've also used a 3/8 ounce thundermist lure jigging spoon for the perch. A diving crankbaits to about 10 ft was great before the weeds came up for the smallmouth bass. Worms are also great for the perch however the gobies often nibbled the worms off. Midsummer the weeds get very thick and make fishing difficult there.
Isn't that by the Pickering Nuclear Power Plant? I've been meaning to go there around the dawn hours for a photo shoot. Water looks crystal clear at some spots.
It is! I saw some osprey flying and fishing in the area as well. Quite a few photographers go out there to shoot the birds and there are a family of foxes around one of the parking lots.

I've been out there for the past 2 weeks and the fishing is quite slow right now. Once the water warms up even more it should be better. Progress Frenchman's Bay East parking lot has some bowfin and occasionally some pike. There are some little bluegill and Gobi there as well. If he parks at the beach parking lot and fishes across the bridge along the west side Marina there are bass and Pike. It can get busy at the beach parking area. Best of luck
@@tomrock6431 for sure! Its not as good now that they mechanically weeded the bay. Its been brown now for years and fishing isnt what it used to be. You can still catch large mouth, pike, bowfin, bluegill but not in the same numbers as before.

@@LadybugAdventures yeah well you did a great job ,my wife and I are always there fishing from the bank over near the channel on the east channel walk path there's always monster smallies cruising the rocks ,but they never hit ,last year I hooked the biggest largemouth at those same rocks tucked in between the rocks ,lost him go figure ,anyways I no whave a boat and I fished Frenchman's last fall in October with no results ,but I'm a bass guy and I've seen some videos with some good fish that come out of there ,so I'm gonna fish it more this year starting next week fish the shoreline banks and slip maybe some topwater frogs ,but my friend says if I can get out to the power plant there's some good quality smallies !!?

Brave and likely a little stupid. Yeah I've seen some people anchor right in the center of the outlet where the current is so strong. I stay to the sides and cast into it. Also I check the wind direction and speeds before going out to the main lake. 15 km/hr winds is my limit. I try to make sure the winds aren't going to push me offshore as well. Extra precautions when going out on such a small vessel!

Awesome. I've always found that there are giant bass inside the bay. There's not a lot but what is there is big!

Have you ever had a bird take your catch?
Yes! A seagull wanted my minnow the moment it hit the water. I thought I'd have to pry a hook out of it but luckily it let go.
You're keeping fish from right beside the nuke plant eh? Are they safe to eat?
I make sure that the fish don't glow in the dark before I eat them. All kidding aside, I've only eaten two or three fish from that area.
Maybe in the coming summer etc we'll meet up n toss a line!
