My mom knew I loved the VW Beetle. She bought me a Hot Wheels redline Beetle in florescent green in 1967.. Thats as close as I ever got to ever owning one. 😂😊 Your car is awesome.
You have done some amazing work! Can't wait to see your other vids! On behalf of my uncle Moses and my late grandfather by the same name, thank you for seeing the diamond in Oliver, though he was rough. My grandfather always kept a pair, one Standard, one Super, and the last ones he owned, each a '73, are in my possession, alongside my own S/SB pair, a '76 and a '74.
Thank you! I’ve been very tempted to buy another one to work on now but I wanted to work on something American instead which is why I switched it up. Thanks for your support!
Thank you! I haven’t driven it too hard just yet but I’d love the opportunity to put it on a track. So far it hugs the corners pretty amazingly, but I’m contemplating upgrading to a rack and pinion steering system for better control and less play.
I really love everything about your car. I had several older Bugs when I was closer to your age, I'm 61 now and recently purchased a 63 and a 68. They're both Baja which I don't really like but I'm having fun working on them. I built a similar engine for the 63, 2110cc with cam, heads, dual webers, etc. Great job on your car, especially the wheels!
Thank you so much for your support! I’ve always loved how beetles bring people together with memories and stories since they used to be around more. Baha bugs a super cool too though, thank you again for watching.
@smithsgarage273 I've been considering making the 63 back into a Beetle. It's a rag top which I really like. I'm not exactly sure if that's even possible? If you have any footage of doing the body work on yours I'd like to see it. Possibly with some links where you bought the parts. I subscribed to your channel, keep up the good work!
@@goldentrunnell7450I do have some footage from doing the body work and I will gladly make a video on it soon, I’m just trying to make videos in order of how I worked on the car. I do think that it would totally be possible to go from a baha to a normal beetle
I really like your wheels too,I would like to do something similar on my porsche 914,I like the ones I have ,Empi 8 spoke? Beautiful job!Oh and love the color
Love your bug, you did an excellent job getting it on the road again.. i especially love your rims on the rear, do you know what size tire you're running? Can't wait to go for a ride...Take care my friend and God Bless...
Covid had shut my high school down, and I also graduated mid way through the project. So I was putting 2+ hours at least every day. At the time it was my only car so I really wanted to get it done. I also had a lot of help from my Dad and friends
@smithsgarage273 that'll do it. I get maybe one day a week average to work on mine between work and family etc. It turned out amazing. Shame you didn't film the progress.
@@GT.Bugger That makes sense, time is a lot harder to come by for me now that I work as well. I did actually film a lot of it! I’m in the process of making more videos right now but I kept procrastinating on them and just had to start somewhere. This video just served more as an introduction to me and the channel.
Oliver is quite a looker, my dude!
Thanks man!
I've watched your entire Oliver series. Great job, I'm looking forward to more episodes.
Thank you! I’m really happy to hear that. Hope you enjoy

Super Kool a ton of $$$ and labor
Thanks man, I did my best to avoid high prices by doing all the work myself. I chose labour over $$$ so it wasn’t too bad.
Beautiful Beetle, 180hp is a lot for a Beetle, would love to take it for a ride on the (German) Autobahn to check out its handling!
Thank you! I haven’t driven it too hard just yet but I’d love the opportunity to put it on a track. So far it hugs the corners pretty amazingly, but I’m contemplating upgrading to a rack and pinion steering system for better control and less play.
I'm interested in viewing more videos of your beetle. It looks great.
Amazing build!!!! Looking forward to more bug content !!!! Hello Oliver can't wait to hear You ripping around

Thank you very much!
What a beautiful car. You have done a great job
Amazing job, love the rims. I just picked up a 1960 and might be reaching out to you for advice. Thanks for sharing
Thank you! I’m planning on making a lot more videos, I just recently got vertigo so there’s a bit of a delay but I’ll hopefully be back soon.
Nice work!!🤙

Thank you so much! The rear tires are a 205/50 ZR 15
@@smithsgarage273 Thanks Smith, have a good one my friend...
Cool looking car what size tyres and off set of rear wheels😊
Thank you! Sorry for not responding sooner. The tires are a 205/50 ZR 15 and the offset is 3 inches in from the hub, 5 inches out.
Do you have a link to wear you got the rims from?

You’ll have to message the guy.
I've been working on my car for 15 years and it's still not done! How the hell you do that much work in 1 and a half years!

40hp is perfect!
Haha, I usually would agree but I just wanted a little more pep in the step you know?
Man I’d love a car like that but there’s no way it’ll survive my neighborhood without getting messed with.
Turned a pile of sh*t into something special, Pea Green, hard to tell in that lighting. Owned a 61 back in the day.
Thank you! the colours actually mango green but I love it. The 60’s were a good year for cars.
