    You just explained why I couldn’t reverse my PC cans with a switch . Thank you!

    You can take out just the PCB by holding the coil part in a vise, and carefully turning the base which contains the bearings. If you were careful during disassembly, the fan will function properly after reassembly.

    Could a switch be added so you could make the airflow forward or reverse?

    This is a sleeve bearing fan, right?

    Would this also work on a PWM case fan? I would imagine so since PWM is just a means of applying full power at short intervals, but maybe there is a difference? I really want to reverse the direction of some PWM fans but this seems to be the best method I have found so far (aside from cutting up the housing).

      yeah same to you, the video is great but for noob like me is quite hard, if there any easy solution to make it reverse the rotation plz tel me

  • @-shortsfeed
    @-shortsfeed ปีที่แล้ว

    You need some Snap ring pliers. The ones that come with multiple tips of different size and angle, reversible handles instead of the pin and spring kind the ones that just fold to change from inward force to outwards.

    Ĉool, I actually am looking for a micro bldc pc fan motor to power my portabe cassetteplayer project. I'm curious if I can get enough torque with gear ratio to turn the tape. It's pretty silent.

    • @randomtronic
      @randomtronic  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Synthusiast all depends on gear ratio. Since those spin quite fast, you could reduce through gears the speed and thus increase the torque. It could work. Good luck!

    Why you did not mounted the fan on the oppposite side to have a reverse air flow?

    hi there, I want to know why transistors are used in pc fans. and i want to know suitable transistors to replace my burnt transistors.on the burnt transistor there some identification number that is "IC33725 P H 2 4". i checked on the Internet but i got nothing .Can you help me?

    • @randomtronic
      @randomtronic  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, pc fans are brushless DC motors, and require switching between different windings of the stator to happen in sync with the rotation of the fan. That's what transistors (more likely dedicated ICs in a transistor package, often consisting of hall effect sensor and switching logic) do. Those generally are purpose made (to drive cost down) for manufacturers of the fans, and those parts ale very unlikely to be available to buy as a replacement.

      roynorw hi, bearing should not matter, I only discussed the electronic part of the object. Please expect the circuitry to be different in some modern fans, but coil swap will work exactly the same.

    Having been able to make it go in the reverse direction, did that do anything to the airflow direction and/or airflow volume ?

    • @randomtronic
      @randomtronic  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Wah Ng it will reverse the airflow, but it is far less efficient that way due to shape of the blades. For good efficiency you need blades shaped like a mirror image. e.g. drones have 2 left rotating and 2 right rotating rotors. They look like mirror image.

    • @wahng9552
      @wahng9552 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like the setup the fan manufacturers have on their "counter-rotating" fan models. These models have two fans attached to each other where the front one is rotating its blades in the counter-clockwise direction while the rear one is this rotating its blades in the clockwise direction. The blades on the front fan are a mirror image of the rear fan in these assemblies which increases the airflow more than if you put two singular fans back to back.

    • @randomtronic
      @randomtronic  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Wah Ng yep, exactly ;)

    Many of these DC fans have reverse protection. Direct exchange of coil input polarity is a good practice.

    This motor I can use quadcopter...?

    • @randomtronic
      @randomtronic  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +emranhossain tonmou thats what I wanted to try. After some tests, it turned out, that the motor is too weak. After attaching propeller, the motor is unable to spin it fast enough to generate usable lift. If you had 4 of those on a frame, it would fly. But if you add a battery to the frame and some more electronics, then it will stay grounded. Need more power :)

      There are typically screw holes on one side, flipping it around made it near impossible to screw it back in, since there is no indentation in the flipside, unless you have access to longer screws.

      NO. suppose there is NSNS magnet if u reverse it it will be NSNS only, to reverse u must choose which coil u r energising first.

    • @samueladitya1729
      @samueladitya1729 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      that way you just shifting the magnet against the blade by around 30 degrees depend on how many magnets in there. but reversing the electromagnet or coil might work because it will shift against the sensor.

    • @randomtronic

      juanfrancisco I thought I showed clearly what I did there. I did not reverse engineer entire driver circuit unfortunately, so can't post the schematic :( besides, there are as many circuits for fans as there are fan manufacturers - but if you want to do what I did there, that should work with every circuit out there. Thanks

    • @execrable3000
      @execrable3000 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      randomtronic as it have two coils , I believed that there is some sort circuit at the base of the capacitors transistor and for reverse spin L2 must star first

    • @iconoclad
      @iconoclad 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@randomtronic I only saw you cut one trace and put in one link. I don't see how that would reverse anything. You would really need to cut two traces and put in two links, methinks. I can't be sure without seeing the schematic.
      EDIT: I just reviewed the video and see that in fact TWO traces were cut but only the first cut was filmed, the 2nd cut performed off camera.. Also TWO links were installed but one of them was simply a solder bridge. So my comment was pointless. The two cuts and links do in fact reverse the coil polarities.
