I live in the Los Angeles area many are going without masks I don't like riding crowded buses and seeing people sitting next to me without a mask. I know some say masks don't offer much protection but I feel safer wearing one.
I also feel safer being near someone who is wearing a mask. I also wear masks in public due to having a compromised immune system. I was told by a doctor that is a good friend that masks help reduce the viral load that enters your system so that your body is not overwhelmed trying to fight the virus.
Then feel free to keep wearing it. No one will bug you and you wont bother others. Demanding? That will no longer be accepted

Yup… I got this. Fully vaxed, always wear my mask. Wash my hands with hot water and soap. Interestingly, I took a COVID test with just my nose, came back negative. I know this sounds gross, but my wife, who is a nurse, swabbed my nosed then my throat. Came back positive almost instantly. I feel absolutely horrible, everything hurts. The worst thing is though, my throat. I’ve only slept like 8 hours total the last 3 days. I wake up because of pain. I feel pretty terrible, and this is coming from a person who has had 8 kidney stones.

im caring for my 82 year old uncle whos on hospice from covid. its heartbreaking to watch. he already had kidney failure an heart failure with diabetes to boot. he caught this from going into hospital for a fall.

yep. the only place you can catch most things is hosital. & it has been that way for covid pretty much until omicron was everywhere. & even then: if you want to be sure to get it - go to a hospital. you'll always do worse than if you stayed home too. -jc
Hospitals are germ factories. It is after all where sick peope gather which is why I recommend people only choose them for necessary procedures otherwise use smaller outpatient facilities and even video visits where it applies. So many people wind up getting terrible hospital infections while they're there for a simple injury of some kind. Hospitals should have separate buildings or at least separate wings of the building for infectious diseases with their own entrance and exit and elevators bathrooms cafeteria and so forth but instead they have everyone share those things which is crazy IMHO.

Remember PLEASE that this is a variant and not the original AND more importantly we have some immunities to it now. When it first came out in 2019 our bodies had no, zero, ziltch immunities to it - had never been seen before.
I may/may not get it again. Hope not, but I am just not interested in more restrictions. And I would vote against any politicians pushing for them.

It’s bad. I’m on day seven in bed. 103 fever for five of those. Intense/pounding headache that made me cry and my thigh muscles were in severe pain. Shortness of breath. My period started two weeks early. My ears are ringing LOUD. Now the fever stopped and a friggin sore throat that feels like knives popped up. The first night of the bad fever I couldn’t even speak. I felt like actual death. It’s ….. something else. I’ve already had Covid too(once when it first got here, that was pretty bad bc I caught pneumonia from it)but even then wasn’t like this. Second was last year which was easy peasy.. just a 101 fever which I can handle and a cough.. I worked out ever day still with that one. This was laid me OUT. I’m over this.
On day 3 right now, I’m pretty sure I have this variant. I have no idea how I could’ve gotten it because to me knowledge I haven’t been around anyone who has been sick in a very long time, and anytime I’ve been in a hospital I have (obviously) been wearing a mask, and I basically drown my hands in hand sanitizer. Took me a while to feel comfortable taking off my mask but I wish I never had taken it off. This is the worst I’ve physically felt in my entire life

I have laid in the truck now for 2 days and I think I'm on the other side. I started zinc immediately when I started feeling a sore throat and then was I tested Monday I started 24 mg of ivermectin and a sore throat went away... But the fatigue is for real.

I went to the Doctor this morning because I thought I had strep throat but it was actually Covid. This is one of the worst sore throat’s I had in my life. I have been constantly eating popsicles and sucking on ice because of my sore throat.
I think I had covid once. Lasted a few hours. But I do take a small dose of zinc most days together with an ionophore. Of course if you take an ionophore there's no need to take much zinc and without the ionophore zinc at any level struggles to enter the cell. And of course not only do studies prove the contribution made by zinc against covid even studies of the ionophore alone show great success. So when a person like me with multiple comorbidities takes both I have no fear and no masks.The ionophore I take is truly wonderful it's called Quercetin. No downsided but plenty of upsides.

I have been taking D3, Zinc, and magnesium which has been helping. With Delta I had no taste or smell, and pneumonia but I got over it without too much trouble. This new ba.5 is just irritating my upper chest throat and nose. But it’s life and at times being sick is part of it. The important thing is to eat healthy and exorcise

Testing even when you don't have symptoms is to screen out asymptomatic carriers. You might not show any symptom with thr virus, but you can still infect other people, including thoes who are more susceptible and vulnerable to the infection.

It isn't as bad as delta because delta was the reason my grandfather sadly passed last year. Ba.5 felt like the flu but the fatigue was immense and headache feels like ping pong. On my 14th day of this new variant and while I am now luckily negative and no longer contagious I feel that this variant sucked the life out of me. I am so tired from doing basic tasks.

I had it at the end of July and it was HORRIBLE! I still don't feel normal and am always exhausted and my taste and smell is still not all the way back. I had this 3 weeks ago, had intense headaches, painful joints and just felt highly irritable, didn’t have a cough or any sore throat at all and although my nose was runny, it’s like it didn’t affect my lungs or airway at all which even the doctors found very strange.

But most troubling was the horrible neck shoulder and arm pain that kept me up at night for weeks. My arms and hands went numb. Still dealing with numbness 5 weeks later. Had blood tests done that indicated an autoimmune disease. Most likely triggered by this variant. It’s rough.

On day 2 now, started with sick stomach then body aches and sore throat. My first day I slept for almost 24 hours. I thought I had strep. My first tests came back negative but when my symptoms set in the test came back positive. The sore throat is horrible. Back pain and heart palpitations.
@Brandon mine seems to be subsiding some but yes nearly unbearable. I'm now back at the stomach issue, headache, runny nose, sneezing stage. Slight sore throat. TIRED VERY TIRED.
This is just my personal experience, tested negative on the home test but thought I had it, couple weeks later now I have tested positive for antibodies. It was like a mild flu need to take at least a couple of days off for it. Took DayQuil NyQuil vitamin C and zinc and some herbal remedies. I feel totally fine now.

Each time you get infected is one less chance you have a surviving it at an older age. I might have caught covid. I'm waiting for a test to come in, either through the mail, or my mother (which I don't expect much due to my history with her). I read that dizziness can be a sign of pneumonia from covid, and I've been dizzy since 5am. I'm trying to keep my breathing even, since I heard that panicking can make it get worse due to the hyperventilation. I'm worried that my chronic pain and fatigue from a diagnosed pain disorder may get worse.

Vaccinated adults and unvaccinated children here. We have had it 4x in the house. Previously, It didn’t spread when we isolated in the house. This time we all got it. We all had high fever back ache head ache lethargy and it’s now finishing in the chest. It’s a 5 day solid illness.

Symptoms: Day 2/3: (Tested positive) Body aches/fever/chills, fatigue and beginning congestion/cough. Symptoms: Day 5-7: fatigue, cough, congestion, stuffy nose, and new symptom plugged ears. Day 8/9 still with same last symptoms and testing positive. Day 10: Tested negative but cough/congestion is still remaining.

I had this. I had omicron back in april, I was fine, I got BA5... i ended up in hostipal with pneumonia and oxygen sats under 87... Im young and fit. but I have asthma... I was shocked at how unwell I got
I got it. For reference I'm 31, AFAB and usually physically healthy and average/slim build and have an active job on my feet most of the day. No diabetes or asthma. Most of my health issues are just mental health.
I think I started my infection with it 4 days ago. Had a mild scratchy throat for two days, (when I was working, oops, and honestly did feel a little more tired and irritable than usual) then thought I had hay fever like runny nose and a bit of mucus on day three, but thankfully I spent some time outside in the sun.(it was a day out with a friend and I told him to watch out if he gets it) The nose blowing got more intense that evening, so I took my test and it showed positive. Spent yesterday with a fever, watched stranger things, drank a lot of lemon water, I think my fever broke last night, and now today, (day 2 quarantine from work /socializing but really day 5) I feel better. Less achey and hot but still coughing the goo out. I don't want to have any long covid sequelae tho so I'm taking about a week off rather than just 5 days to be safe.
Oh and I'm just gonna add, part of why this is so contagious (besides many people no longer wearing masks) is because it makes you sneeze A LOT. Or at least I was sneezing a lot, off and on, the few days before I took my test. But I thought it was just allergies and being in the sun.
I remember in 2021 when President Biden said we will encounter "a winter of severe illness and death" because of covid.
The sight of those mass graves in the bay area still haunt me.
