M.D. Geist: Director's Cut (JP) - Battle with the Final Terminator

- Everyone knows the US dub of the Director's Cut of M.D. Geist is pretty laughable, but what about the Japanese re-dub? In a largely unknown role, Kazuhiro Nakata voices Geist, and holy shit does he know how to scream, Geist may have been awesome in the original 1986 version just because of Norio Wakamoto voicing him, but Nakata actually does a great performance in this version.
The thing I like about this fight is how videogame-esque it is, the Final Terminator (referred to by that name in the comics) is basically the End Boss of Brain Palace with three forms, also, because of the excellent use of Violence of the Flame, one of Hironobu Kageyama's best songs without a doubt.

They really should make a MD Geist video game.
Obviously it would be action packed. But I think being able to explore more of the world of
Jerra and the characters would be really fun. I mean who actually is Geist. All we really
know about him is that he was genetically engineered as a super soldier.
Learning about Geist's past would be quite interesting. And not just Geist but Vaiya,
Krutes, SAKAMOTO, and Krauser. Plus it would be awesome to explore more of the world
of Jerra.

it would have to be a hybrid between a hack n slash (like dmc) and a third person shooter (like vanquish)
ppl hate on this (and really hate the sequel), but these shots with the eyes is TOO CLEAN. Love it! The music syncs up perfectly too.

I agree. Personally, I think MD Geist, while it has its issues, did not deserve all the negative bashing its gotten.
He's totally not a simp either. The main woman offered him her body, but he told her he only needed what was in her head!

That Demon Robot design was done by Yasuhiro Moriki who worked on Metalloids and Megazords from Tokumei Sentai Gobusters, even Kaijukis and Alienizers in Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger, even Metarex Generals from Sonic X, XI Gundam and Penelope from Gundam Hathaway's Flash.

Sorry but that's because that version is based on the 1986 version's soundtrack, in which Violence of the Flame is saved for the end credits.
Personally, I'm not sure who I like better; Norio Wakamoto, or Kazuhiro Nakata. In all honesty, I think they were both awesome as MD Geist. But I have to give Nakata credit because he voiced the character in both the Directors Cut version of the first episode, and in the sequel. And also, I know this sounds crazy; but the robot that Geist fought here reminds me of Unicron from the Transformers universe for some reason.

The music beginning around 4:06 is execrable. The original cut had a track which set cast a desperate gloom over the segment. This music makes it seem like a cheesy superhero rallying rather than a fight which clearly almost finished Mr. Geist. This music is far better suited for the credits only, this was an unfortunate choice in the director's cut.

Geist: Well I admit that I almost died in the fight I had against that demon Robot that looked a bit like that Sayayin's nemesis, but even so, I managed to tear him to shreds discovering his weak points, in his first transformation I destroyed his armor with my blows stronger, in his second transformation I managed to stick my combat knife right in his head and finally and the most important thing was when I managed to destroy him completely in his third transformation thanks that I gave him an electrical surge that made him explode

I just thought of something; since Jason Beck is dead now, I think David Hayter (Solid Snake) would be awesome for the new voice of MD Geist if there was a new anime or a video game. I'm pretty sure David Hayter would be an awesome choice for Geist.
The still shot of the huge robots at the end is a glimpse of the Death Force, which, although very central to the plot of MD Geist and it's less well done sequel, don't regretfully have that much screen time.

Yeah, died in 2000, I actually wanna put together a small tribute just because he voiced this character. What's awesome is that he apparently was the answer machine voice for CPM and he did it in his Geist voice.
@cergeantbeanie So true. Jason Beck's deep sinister voice made Geist seem pretty dark and menacing. And he nailed it quite well. It's such a shame he died an untimely death in the early 2000s. But he has my respect. He was a great voice actor.

Not much fighting for a fight scene
This is what pisses me off. The new 2013 re-edit doesn't have "Violence of the Flame" playing in the last half of the fight scene. It's the main reason why I loved the soundtrack, because of how it was delivered.
I think the guy voicing Col. Krutes in this Japanese re-dub also voiced Raoh in the new Hokuto No Ken movies. It definitely sounds like him.
This brings back memories of my childhood watching this!

when did he die? only thing I remember seeing is his helmet after his final fight with krouser. Is it a safe assumption that he died as well as krouser?
I still think Jason Beck takes the cake with Geist's voice... he sounds completely cold, the way Geist should be...
