    I'm recently got into weightlifting; and I come from a Calisthenics background. This gives me a legit excuse to keep doing weighted Calisthenics. Weighted Calisthenics are my all time favorite type of upper body strength training.

    - like a dB pullover but with less R.O.M.
    Z press
    - seated press with legs straight out in front of you
    Telle extensions
    - eccentric of a skull crusher, but then bring into a close grip bench
    Neutral grip pull ups

    Snatch grip (behind the neck presses) are amazing. Obvious they’re often called Klokov presses because he used them to strengthen strength in locking out the snatch. They’re actually good for your shoulders. The only people who think BTN pressing is bad are people who have messed up shoulders (often from benching too much). These are the only lift to ever put serious width on my shoulders. Doing a mini complex of muscle snatches + snatch grip presses is amazing.

    Dane, I've heard you discuss in other videos how strength training does contribute to weight loss contrary to popular belief, but I'm wondering which kind of strength training is better for weight loss: training that promotes myofibrillar hypertrophy, or training that promotes sarcoplasmic hypertrophy?

    • @GarageStrength
      @GarageStrength  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Probably myofibrillar, but at the end of the day, you need to be at a caloric deficit and it can really contribute if the person is overweight.

  • @822737292
    @822737292 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Good selection of exercises. Definitely beneficial. Although I did not see anyone in the video locking out the dips. Was there a reason for that?

    • @GarageStrength
      @GarageStrength  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Those were the videos we had on hand to demonstrate the exercise but for Olympic lifting we do recommend a slight pause at the top for maximum results. Good catch 👍

    Love your content. Can I ask, why do you rate dips over the bench/floor press?

    • @GarageStrength
      @GarageStrength  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks man. Olympic lifting involves movement vertically so a bench press which is horizontal pressing doesn’t correlate as well to a Tricep movement which translates well to the snatch and jerk
