  • SAF (Self-Adjusting File) is a revolutionary innovative system for root canal (endodontic) treatment, that adapts to the anatomy of the root canal in a minimally invasive way, without excessively removing dentin or causing micro-fractures, and at the same time includes simultaneous continuous irrigation (with Sodium Hypochlorite or other irrigants). This enables the dentist to carry an efficient cleaning-shaping-irrigation endodontic procedure with a higher success rate.
The November 2013 edition of the instructional video on the use of the SAF System includes:
    * Description of the system, including operation of the SAFpro System or the SAFbasic System.
    * Pre-operative preparations and principles of operation
    * Clinical guidelines and demonstration of a root canal treatment by the leading researcher and clinician Dr. Michael Solomonov

in this Video you've mentioned the Recommended speed is 5,000 RPM and the cordless Handpiece the Practitioner was using is barely 500-550 RPM on Recommended 16:1 gear Please Explain !

You are correct, the cordless handpiece shown in the clinical protocol chapter of this video does reach only 600rpm with a 16:1 speed-reducing gear.
This is why it is used with a 1:1 gear to operate the SAF's RDT3 handpiece head, at a speed of 5,000rpm.

My opinion is that I get very successful results with a simple and quick file system (eg. Protaper). If you can do the basics properly u don't need time consuming systems like this.

Being self-assured and happy with your techniques is a wonderful thing, as long as it doesn't interfere with reality... What do you call "the basics"? You are invited to initiate this discussion on our Facebook group: facebook.com/groups/SAFforum, where users from around the world will be happy to answer.
Other than that, you should be aware of the facts:
      1. Shaping: Rotary instruments touch only ~50% of the canal walls, frequently cause canal transportation and excessively remove sound dentin. Working in Brushing motions, which is commonly used to try to accommodate to the irregular shape of the canal, does not provide significant improvement, and just removes more sound dentin, to a risky level. You can see some comparisons of the shaping ability of the SAF in compare with rotaries on our website: www.redentnova.com/what-is-saf/better-shaping
      2. Cleaning: Rotary instruments pack infected debris into narrow areas inside the root canal, to a level that cannot be removed even by the combination of PUI and EDTA. They also extrude much debris beyond the apex, being the main cause for post-operative pain and delayed healing of apical periodontitis. The SAF System reaches an extremely high level of cleaning and disinfection, which cannot be compared to any other instrument on the market, as shown in dozens of peer-reviewed researches. You are invited to see the comparison of the SAF and rotaries on our website: www.redentnova.com/what-is-saf/better-cleaning
      3. Creation of dentinal microcracks: The SAF System does not create dentinal micro-cracks, while rotaries have been shown to create microcracks at a high percentage. Again, our website explains this in details: www.redentnova.com/what-is-saf/avoiding-micro-cracks
      4. Safety in operation: Many of the drawbacks of rotary instruments are safety issues. The SAF provides a much safer alternative:
      www.redentnova.com/what-is-saf/safety-in-operation
      5. Obturation: The SAF is able to provide a cleaner canal, by adapting to the natural morphology and by irrigating simultaneously during the shaping process. This is why the level of obturation is might better, as shown in many peer-reviewed articles. More information: www.redentnova.com/what-is-saf/obturation

U can keep defending your product but dentists know rotary works just fine

We believe that you are mixing two opposite terms - attacking and defending are nothing alike.
"Dentists know"? It seems like you will do everything that you can not to let the facts confuse you.
Instead of being open to an intelligent scientific conversation, you simply "know". Good for you!

    Very time consuming system

You consider four minutes per canal to be very time consuming? That might be true, if your main criteria for a root canal treatment is how long it takes, and if preservation of sound dentin, highly efficient irrigation and disinfection, irrigant activation and avoidance of safety issues are of no importance to you. In such a case, by the way, you should certainly consider extracting...
When compared to what's considered to be a properly-conducted endodontic treatment, with sufficient irrigation, the operation with the SAF certainly isn't more time consuming than standard treatment. Siqueira et al. (Journal of Endodontics 2010; ;36:1860-1865) showed that the operation of the SAF takes half the time of operation of rotary instruments with proper irrigation. Solomonov et al. (Journal of Endodontics 2012;38:1283-1287) showed that the use of the SAF for retreatment took half the time than rotary instrumentation. Both have shown significantly better results than the commonly-used alternative. So... very time consuming? Be serious.
