Katie hasn’t prepared for 12 3 minute rounds. She’s 100% right to say what she said. Doing that would be a bad mistake if you’re not prepared for that. That was a tactic in all fairness.

The fact is the depth and skill isn’t there for that in female boxing, just in a few cases. Look at shields last opponent, she was a champion but had the skill level of a novice

Nah, Woman don't have the same level of athleticism as men. If they do 3 min rounds than their rounds should be reduced to 10 or even 8. I don't watch them because they are like men or have the same level of fitness, I watch them because they are skilled in their category.
I watch prospects too, not because they are the best but because I want to see if they have enough skill to get passed their opponents. Hell, I watch Jake Paul box because I want to see someone overcome a seemingly daunting challenge or fail trying.

To be fair, it's a lot for a woman. It's like a dude doing 5 minute rounds. In boxing your stamina is drained very quickly, I don't want to watch two people gasping for air for half the fight. I'd rather they fight fresh in 2 min rounds.

However, the KO's always make a fight more electric. And, it is easy to sit behind a phone and imply somebody is a casual, simply because they prefer a KO. Different folks, different strokes..

The fight is set for April, we are in February, are you telling me that professional athletes who always train for more than the schedule fight distance are unable to increase the training with 2 months notice, pathetic excuses, she was asked to step up, if the two fighters would of agreed, the length of the rounds and the increase from 10 to 12 would happened, she refused, speaks volumes of where she is at, as is the excuse of a contract has been signed, if she had wanted it, the contractual change would not of been an issue, the end.
@@ukfirebird it's not the end ...until it's the fight is over... anyway it won't make much difference if it ends with a ko in a early round. Katie could have handled it better by saying something like 'we can discuss this with management' just to get off the spotlight but I think Amanda may just have made the fight a personal one...and things were going so well 😁.
I agree 3 minute rounds should be introduced into women's boxing...the 2 minute rounds make women's boxing look amateurish and I think it hurts the sport's image.
There already has been many female fights with 3 minute rounds. Probably the biggest I remember was the Esparza vs Estrada title fight a couple years back, but I have seen several 3 minute female boxing matches. There was a Mayer fight not long ago that had 3 minute rounds. Seems like it may have been sometime in 2020 when Mayer headlined a card on ESPN.

Boxing has already attempted to mitigate this risk by reducing the time in each round, and across an entire fight as a result as well, yet people are obsessed with the idea of 3 minute rounds.

What about banning weightlifting and anything else physical that can have a detrimental impact on the body? Women as a biological fact are more susceptible to concussion - a concussion is a serious brain condition, that can cause, very rapidly, serious brain injuries/damage just as a general fact. Women also get worse concussions on average on top of this fact.
Boxing is a sport where constant repeated head trauma/impact is a normal intended part of the sport. This makes it massively different to normal sports where, even in rugby although it is a dangerous sport it is not in any way an intended part of the sport to get head trauma repeatedly over and over for any amount of time.
This makes boxing a massive increase in danger for women compared to any other sport. Making adjustments for this to mitigate this risk is not like making running shorter, or weightlifting, or any other idiotic thing you are saying that has nothing to do with brain injuries.

bruh this was 2 months ago. Nah that was plenty of time to change the contract if they both wanted. Shit happens like that frequently with other fights like mma. You know how fast diaz was about to switch weight classes but robbie took the fight anyway and won? That is more a real thing not to change within a time frame, this was TWO MONTHS AGO. Katie was scared to put in the extra training in to be able to 12 rounds 3 minutes. Amanda won the mind fight already. And she was robbed from that spilt decision too tonight too.

@@ChakaLove I think they both sound like they are tripping over their words. I don’t favor one over the other. Serrano kept saying the same thing over and over and made it sound like it was the only thing she could get out because she rehearsed it at some point before the press conference. Katie didn’t sound any better. I’m pretty sure if I was on that big of stage I’d be nervous too. Truthfully, It was hard to watch because I like both of them.

Serrano pulled out of the fight last time it was agreed because the purse was lower due to no crowds covid. Katie has wanted the fight for ages and has fought top amateur/pro girls for years. They are fighters an d neither are scared but you train for a fight, tactics/conditioning. Get muscle memory and changing that late in the date wou!d be stupid, plus it's not a decision that they can just make. Do you think serrano is the first woman to say 12x3?

They spar for 3 minutes. Like all of the other fighters do, or more just so they don't gas out in an actual fight.

I agree with Katie. Its not about the amout of time but that women actually go out there and perform. No hit and run and more brawl because thats what the fans want. The UFC is successful with less time per Rnd because theres more brawling. Women are not equall to Men physically the fans want KO or TKO womens boxing has to many decisions.
