The ceremony at Wagah border actually dates back to 1950’s , it started as a sign of respect and rivalry between the two nations because prior to 1947 they were one army and hence colleagues. Before 1999 that was the only road route to Pakistan from India. They have it this ceremony every evening, over the years the comradarieship is naturally lost, it’s all about rivalry now.
