This series represents the biggest problem I have with adaptations like MoS, BvS, F4ntastic and most of DC New 52 Animated movies: The exagerate focus on dark gritty elements instead of the characters and what makes them likable and close to the comics. It's ok for a story to deal with heavy stuff and have moments dark moments, but there should be variation of tone. Characters shouldn't all be unlikable and serious all time. There should be moments where they smile, they feel joy, happiness, and other emotions beside angsts. This balance is what made the Titans so cool in the comics and adaptatios like 2003 cartoon. It was mature stories with dark elements but it also a story about young relatable guys who, by working together and interacting , learn not only how to save the day but also how overcome their own issues and dillemas and grow not just as heroes but also as friends, as family.
I know what you mean. And it seems season three will be adapting elements from All-Star Batman and Robin (Frank Miller) which is just a massive step in the wrong direction.
@@thesmortmeatballreviews6552 Actually it feels season 3 is gonna adapt the under the red hood arc and the blackfire arc (althogh I'm predicting that the Blackfire arc is just gonna be put aside in favor of the Red Hood one since this Titans show already established itself as Nightwing/batfamily show).
@@alexandrefrauches132 well yes I know that red hood and black fire will be the main focus of season three, but thematically it seems to be showing more of the abuse Bruce had on Robin from a young age. Like making him fend for himself in the woods is similar to something Bruce did in All-Star Batman & Robin.
@@thesmortmeatballreviews6552 True, the guys are really adapting All star Batman & Robin (or as some people like to say "Crazy Steve & Dick Grayson Age 12") which is not a great to be adapt, specially in a Titans series. If DC/Warner wanted to adapt this comic they should just made a Batman show (it would still be garbage but at least the adaptation wouldn't feel so out of place).
Not to defend this series at all, but I think Trigon was quickly defeated in the beginning of season 2 because the season 2 premiere was meant to be the actual season 1 finale. I don't know WHY they decided to cut the finale and save it until season 2, but that's why the season 2 premiere feels a bit off from the rest of it.

Not to mention the tokenized character and poor casting and horrific costume designs, terrible choreography for fight scenes terrible scripting all around

That why Stargirl is the best DC show, is pure DC.

Season 3, while improved is still only ok
