This is the most beautiful cornbread I have ever seen.....at 72 years of age, I have seen and made a lot of cornbread. I'll be having some with our homemade vegetable soup tonight. Blessings, Jo Ann in Mississippi
When handling hot peppers I usually rub a small amount of any cooking oil on my hands, that way you can wash your hands and no residue of the pepper juices remains on your hands.
This creole cornbread was nothing like I ever tasted before I made it today without the jalapeno pepper and it was delicious whomever is reading this comment you must try this recipe.. AB keep the recipes coming I'm loving them👍👍👍

After watching your video, it looked so good I wanted to make a pan right away with what I had. I substituted canola oil with vegetable oil, creamed corn with sweet whole kernel corn, whole milk with 2% milk and left out the jalapenos. Baked in the skillet at 350 for 47 minutes, then let it cool for 15 minutes and I'm telling you this stuff was delicious! And you're right about it not needing anything on it! Just perfect! Thank you so much from South Carolina! Who dat, YOU DAT!!!

Hi AB, I just made your cornbread for the first time and it was love at first bite!!! Actually it was love at first sight when I saw you sharing your delicious recipe with the world. I swear the thing people do with food now a days is amazing. It almost makes me feel bad for humans in the past that didn't have all the forms of transportation, we have now, to get ingredients from all over the world. This was amazing I had no idea you could make a cornbread this way. Love this channel and appreciate AB and all his content. 🙏🙏🙂🙂

So grateful to discover this channel! I been overwhelmed with learning to cook this Holiday season and Chef AB does an outstanding job of getting me to relax and simply take things one step at a time to get it alltogether. He should have a series called "AB saves the Holidays" cause he surely been savin mine so far this year! Not all hero's wear capes 😂
Learn something new everyday. If somebody told me that people use rice to make cornbread, I would have said they were crazy. But I'm fixing to make that! That freaking looks good.
I started making this last year as a base for my Thanksgiving dressing. It was so AMAZINGLY good! Doing it again this year. My husband cant wait! Thanks AB.
I made this tonight with some pinto beans & smothered pork chops. This recipe made 12 muffins and a mini cast iron that I cut into 4 pieces. It's very addictive. I ate 3/4 pieces of the mini pan. So good! No butter needed.
I have never heard of putting rice in cornbread, but couldn’t wait to try it… it’s in the oven now. By the time I get my kitchen cleaned up,it should be ready!!!
Hey Smokin” Joe, this is a great recipe speaking from a Caribbean background where we love very tasty food. My wife and I were skeptical about the rice buy it surprisingly good and possibly gluten free as well. We tend to eat this cornbread the quickest out of the other cornbread recipes that we have tried. Keep up the amazing work.
Hey e'r'body! Every year I start planning our Thanksgiving menu very early -- usually in August. Our tradition is to always add something new. Last year AB's Gumbo Style Collard Greens made it on the menu. Big hit! Thumbs up! This year one of our new items will definitely be the Creole Cornbread. Thanks AB!
I made your “regular” corn bread for thanksgiving and it turned out perfect, it was so moist, I was so excited and so was my family! I even saved a “piece” to go with the chili that I also made from watching your channel! Yes, I am killing it...lmbo with your recipes!🤪
OMG, I’ve been thinking about changing the way I do my cornbread recipe that I have been making for years. I used to like the dryness of the cornbread but lately not so much looks like I found the perfect recipe for my cornbread thank you AB
aww my Mom(RIP), used to grow green and red peppers all of the time! I'm going to grow some also along with some bell peppers onions and tomatoes. Thank you as always, AB for sharing recipes with us!💪🏽👍🏼❤
👍 I use drained hominy (Yellow), and a bit of frozen (thawed) sweet corn, as well as creamed corn, plus all you’ve listed here, to make my Mexican cornbread. I also add a little chili powder or cumin.
Hey Smokin Joe, I saw this recipe so I'm making mexican corn bread with 4 boxes of Jiffy corn bread, 4 eggs and milk. 1 taco package to season a pound ground beef, 1 large onion and 1 yellow bell pepper diced, sauted. Drain excess oil. Then add 1 can of garlic and basil diced tomatoes. 1/2 can of whole kernel corn drained along with 1/2 can black beans drained. Then add 1cup of cheddar cheese to corn bread. Pour half batter in bottom pan, add ground beef on top then add other half of corn bread on top, sprinkle more cheese on. Bake for about 20 minutes. I have my fingers crossed its first time I'm making..😄 I will also try yours with rice. Thank you.
I just made this creole cornbread exactly like the recipe except I used a serano pepper instead of a jalapeno. I noticed in the video you didn`t use the cumin or the creole spice that was listed in the recipe. Well I used it and this stuff was awesome. AB, you are the man!!! The smothered pork chops are next.
This is super easy to make and tasted very good. For any Aussies out there , I couldn't find corn meal , and instead used "Sostanza" brand Polenta from Coles . Worked great. Baked this earlier in the day, and then reheated covered in foil in a low oven. This went great with the Chili.
That is my preference as well but yes it does depend somewhat on the application! I mean I may love a red onion but yellow may be the right choice for a given recipe. Oh I love coming across home cooks who understand. Thank you for posting. Hugs. Stay safe. Stay healthy. God bless you and yours.
Last year when you uploaded this video I was cooking beans that day. I actually had all the ingredients and made it. This recipe was a hit been making it ever since! No tweaks needed except I use the whole jalapeño with seeds we like that bite! 😆
THANK YOU, This recipe I will try. Your comment about " Not touching your eyes with jalapeno juice on your fingers", brought back a NOW LAUGHABLE memory.
Tony 180A heck yeah..just make it a casserole! :) I put my well oiled skillet in the 425 oven first..then mix up the batter + and pour it quickly into sizzling hot skillet. I read it shouldn’t set there long after mixing it. Great recipe!
I love cornbread and cannot wait to try this special cornbread recipe! Many online videos seem to always have the cook or chef pouring a large bowl of ingredients into a smaller bowl. It should be the other way around. A small bowl gets poured into the largest bowl to facilitate the best blending or stirring motion. Its fine to to use a glass bowl as long as it is large enough to accommodate the ingredients with no worry about sloshing it out of the bowl. Anyhow, kudos on this great recipe!!
You are the best, I’ve tried the recipe and I couldn’t stop eating it. I’m gonna start making it for our get together dinners each month. Thank you and may God continue to bless you!
Yes! I see "Creole" and I'm all over it! I can't WAIT to try this! I've had different versions of it, but my family never made it! And we're CREOLE! lol.. Keep the recipes coming my talented brotha!
Looks good! Liked and subscribed. My late grandma who was born in 1906 taught me how to make scrambled eggs and cornbread when I was fixing to leave home in the mid 80s because she worried about me going hungry. She said "That's a protein and a starch. If you starve to death, it's your own fault. The difference in how she showed me was to heat my butter on the stove, run it all over the inside of the pan including the sides. That helps set the crust and keep from sticking. Then bake at 425 for 25 minutes.
I was still trying to find that Michigan steel chef knife I looked at the other page underneath the recipe and I wrote The Recipe down I'll tell you it looks so good but I use olive oil I don't use canola or vegetable oil at all either use for my salad to Goodrich olive oil and then the extra light tasting olive oil for things like that it's healthier and I've always use buttermilk in either biscuits or cornbread and I'm always stuck on self-rising call Martha White cornmeal I really like this recipe thank you so much but I sure would like to find that Mexican steel chef knife
They also call this “Mexican style cornbread” that was my first introduction to it. The cheese used is mozzarella along with cheddar. Whatever you call it, it’s delicious and a household favorite! By the way I always take the “easy” way out and use Jiffy. I’m a millennial 🤷🏽♀️
If you want your cornbread very crispy, take that butter or use shortening and just slather it on thick. Stick that skillet in the oven and get it hot enough to where that cornbread sizzles when you pour it in. It’s already moist and tender on the inside…. Now it will be as crispy as you can get it. I didn’t always do this but I learned it from another channel that I follow. I gotta try this recipe. I’ll let you know how mine turns out . Thanks for sharing
AB, I’m making this cornbread right now! It’s in the oven as I type. Can’t wait to try it. You’re always on point love your videos! Thanks a million ❤️👏🏾🙏🏾🤗Southern Girl!!!
AB I have watching your content for years now and to see your versatility, simplicity, and conciseness of instructions is amazing. Truly love your channel and your content is exceptional and taste test approved by my wife and five daughters🙌🏾🔥🔥🔥!
I would have loved to see a close-up of the slice. I'm curious as to how the rice tastes inside. I used to make Mexican cornbread with the fiesta-style corn years ago. But this with the rice has me interested in revisiting this type of cornbread upgrade.

I just made this tonight, and it was so delicious. I ate it with some leftover lima beans.😊
I just made this and I must say it’s is so good. Thank you for sharing the recipe. I’ve made a lot of cornbread in my life and this is the best.
Hello Nikki😊
I am going to try it it looks rally good thanks
Hello, did you use baking Soda or baking powder??
I swear the thing people do with food now a days is amazing. It almost makes me feel bad for humans in the past that didn't have all the forms of transportation, we have now, to get ingredients from all over the world. This was amazing I had no idea you could make a cornbread this way. Love this channel and appreciate AB and all his content. 🙏🙏🙂🙂
Man ...where I been....n Kansas not knowing that a King n Cali has been burning on all 4 eyes with some "sooooooulllll food....King my husband and I can burn but goodness you got us pheening over here for these groceries 😄😄😄😄and u been kicking the kitchen door down with these recipes over a year ago....yo where is Snoop n Martha Stewart? U need a weekly segment on their show......"Smokin n Grilling with A B."
I know ur family is proud of you King...."Happy Wife....Happy Life"....say Grace let's eat🙏🙏🙏🙏✌️👑👑😄
Thanks Queen! 💯
Thanks AB.
So do I, and I bake some chorizo sausage into the cornbread also. It is soooo good.
I made this tonight with some pinto beans & smothered pork chops. This recipe made 12 muffins and a mini cast iron that I cut into 4 pieces. It's very addictive. I ate 3/4 pieces of the mini pan. So good! No butter needed.
I added a tsp full of jalapeno and tajin powder....totally rocks thank you
That sounds like a Level-Up to me!🔥🔥🔥
I have never heard of putting rice in cornbread, but couldn’t wait to try it… it’s in the oven now.
Honey the look on your face when you tasted it said "have mercy!" Will definitely be making this! Blessings
I'm going to give this a try...makes my mouth water just thinking about it!
I know what you mean 🤤😊
OMG, I’ve been thinking about changing the way I do my cornbread recipe that I have been making for years. I used to like the dryness of the cornbread but lately not so much looks like I found the perfect recipe for my cornbread thank you AB
This guy is so clean with his cooking! As well as the best cook Amazing!.
Melba I always think that very same thing! I ❤️ that about AB” & the awesome recipes!!!
aww my Mom(RIP), used to grow green and red peppers all of the time! I'm going to grow some also along with some bell peppers onions and tomatoes. Thank you as always, AB for sharing recipes with us!💪🏽👍🏼❤
👍 I use drained hominy
(Yellow), and a bit of frozen (thawed) sweet corn, as well as creamed corn, plus all you’ve listed here, to make my Mexican cornbread.
Thank you.
You do such a great job of sharing good , chef level information to people, in a down to earth, easily understandable way. Thanks AB!
I want you to cook with me, AB! Your style and energy kill me! You're the best, stay genuine.
Much appreciated!
So true he is genuine stay bless
You can find double o polenta from Italy in the flour section of Coles and Woolies in Aussie
Going to try this for Sunday lunch with some stew fish and callaloo .
A great Trini lunch🇹🇹. Thanks for sharing your recipe 💕
That is my preference as well but yes it does depend somewhat on the application! I mean I may love a red onion but yellow may be the right choice for a given recipe. Oh I love coming across home cooks who understand. Thank you for posting. Hugs. Stay safe. Stay healthy. God bless you and yours.
:)
AB: “Paper plate... to slow up on these dishes”
Me: WORD! 😂
Haha 😄 me too. I love using paper plates. If they made paper pots I would use those too. 🤭
Yessss!
😁👍
😁
Paper and Plastic all day in my house!!!😉
Never have I ever heard of making cornbread with rice. Today, I did. Wowzers! Thanks for the recipe!
Last year when you uploaded this video I was cooking beans that day. I actually had all the ingredients and made it. This recipe was a hit been making it ever since! No tweaks needed except I use the whole jalapeño with seeds we like that bite! 😆
That's right! 👏
The BEST with beans....ANY KIND
That cornbread looks delicious!!! I've used several of your recipes and they NEVER disappointing!!!
Thanks so much for watching and trying this out. 😊😊😊
When AB say “this is Key” I pay attention a little harder
😂😂
THANK YOU, This recipe I will try.
Your comment about " Not touching your eyes with jalapeno juice on your fingers", brought back a NOW LAUGHABLE memory.
Man this was a good one! I added bacon and cubed andouille sausage to your recipe.
Awwww, man, that sounds real good!
That's a whole meal.... LOL
Italian sausage with would be amazing also
Tony, that bacon, reminds me of crackling cornbread.
Tony 180A heck yeah..just make it a casserole! :) I put my well oiled skillet in the 425 oven first..then mix up the batter + and pour it quickly into sizzling hot skillet. I read it shouldn’t set there long after mixing it. Great recipe!
Tried this! OMG life changing! Y’all HAVE to try this!🔥🔥🔥🔥
👏🤤🔥😁
I made this recipe for thanksgiving - beyond awesome!!! Lots of compliments!!!
Can’t wait to try this one. Made the red beans and rice yesterday. 🤤
This goes great with that too! Enjoy!
Oh man, the red beans and rice was off the chain! This cornbread would go perfect with it.
Maaan, I made YOUR CHILLI with YOUR CREOLE CORNBREAD. Yo it's off the hook.
Glad you enjoyed :)
They're not very adventurous and don't know their Cajun!

Yes! Chili sound great. Love cornbread.
I’m a big fan of Louisiana cooking; never saw a cornbread recipe w/ rice added. I might just try this one out. Thx
It's so good! Enjoy!
You are the best, I’ve tried the recipe and I couldn’t stop eating it. I’m gonna start making it for our get together dinners each month. Thank you and may God continue to bless you!
I love having uses for left over rice...I will try this.
👍👏😁🤤
That looks so good I am going to try that

Yes! I see "Creole" and I'm all over it! I can't WAIT to try this! I've had different versions of it, but my family never made it! And we're CREOLE! lol.. Keep the recipes coming my talented brotha!
Thanks Stephanie and enjoy :)
I love everything you make. That corn bread looks so darn good.
Thanks so much
You better know it. Yummy Yumm
We’re doing a shrimp boil on Saturday and I’m making this on the side! It looks fire!!!
When you taste your food and how your voice sound after you taste it, makes me wanna fix everything you cook🤤😃

so true
Looks so delicious! Making Redbeans and rice tomorrow, , this is the recipe for cornbread I will be using! Can’t wait. 🤗
Mommy sounds good. Enjoy!
I will make this today...AB you are real.. cooking brother
Love that recipe it’s a must cook for me with some fried fish and beans.
This looks delicious. I'm going to make this some day this week.
Hope you enjoy. I know you will :)
Yes… this is very similar to the Mexican cornbread recipe that I have!! So delicious!!
After watching this, that Jiffy is only good for coating the skillet!
Yes, I know it as Mexican cornbread. Never heard of creole cornbread. The rice is an interesting ingredient though.
Jiffy to me might as well be cake mix! Too much sugar!
I started watching your TH-cam Channel and everything you cook looks delicious, my favorite was the peach cobbler recipe
AB, I’m making this cornbread right now! It’s in the oven as I type. Can’t wait to try it. You’re always on point love your videos! Thanks a million ❤️👏🏾🙏🏾🤗Southern Girl!!!
Hi Teresa! How did it go?
Omgness! Omgness! Omgness! Yeeeeees!! That looks sooooo gooood! I'm definitely making this ( minus the jalapeno) today!!! Thanks sooo much for this!!
I’m team YES on this cornbread. Loved it
Enjoy! 😊
YES! This is how my Mama makes her cornbread, its so savory and addicting.. I absolutely love your videos/recipes!! 💛
Thank you Ms. Rose :)
Depending on the ingredients in the creamed corn, that sounds like the perfect gluten free corn bread. My family will love this. Beautiful dish.
