When handling hot peppers I usually rub a small amount of any cooking oil on my hands, that way you can wash your hands and no residue of the pepper juices remains on your hands.

As soon as I got off work I ran to the store to get all the ingredients, came home and made it, and now I am experiencing pure delight!! I took a photo to share but it looks like there’s not a way to upload a photo here in the comments section. My cornbread turned out gorgeous and delicious thanks to all your great tips. Thank you for posting this! I made this tonight for dinner with the yams and collards and fried some porkchops. My cousin and son went back for 2nds of the creole cornbread and my baby doesn't even eat yams but he loved these. Next time I'll add more jalapeño seeds to it, I'm a spicy girl but I had to tame the spice for my grandmother. This is my 4th time trying your recipes.

Mine is very simple but I cut the corn off the stalk I add homicide smoked salt and 3 TB of brown sugar, I use cream instead of whole milk unless that is all I got.
I use a vegetable shortening because I find the corn bread sticks together better.
I get my skillet well greased and hot enough to fry in then add my batter. Most times I just put a plate on top and flip it right out then another plate and flip it right back to the top.
I also add little green 🌶
I like the red onions and sweet Vandalia.
I like the cheese just like this guy great with chili soups beans anything.
I should trade you my onion fritter recipe.

I was still trying to find that Michigan steel chef knife I looked at the other page underneath the recipe and I wrote The Recipe down I'll tell you it looks so good but I use olive oil I don't use canola or vegetable oil at all either use for my salad to Goodrich olive oil and then the extra light tasting olive oil for things like that it's healthier and I've always use buttermilk in either biscuits or cornbread and I'm always stuck on self-rising call Martha White cornmeal I really like this recipe thank you so much but I sure would like to find that Mexican steel chef knife

Hey Smokin” Joe, this is a great recipe speaking from a Caribbean background where we love very tasty food. My wife and I were skeptical about the rice buy it surprisingly good and possibly gluten free as well. We tend to eat this cornbread the quickest out of the other cornbread recipes that we have tried. Keep up the amazing work.

If you are short on ingredients, and hungry, why not? It's and nutritious filler that will taste good with the cornbread.

The rice and corn together form a more complete protein. Like Rice and beans. I doubt if they knew it when they came up with it though. But it would extend your corn and saves on wheat flour. I am anxious to try this recipe.

After watching your video, it looked so good I wanted to make a pan right away with what I had. I substituted canola oil with vegetable oil, creamed corn with sweet whole kernel corn, whole milk with 2% milk and left out the jalapenos. Baked in the skillet at 350 for 47 minutes, then let it cool for 15 minutes and I'm telling you this stuff was delicious! And you're right about it not needing anything on it! Just perfect! Thank you so much from South Carolina! Who dat, YOU DAT!!!

Your cornbread recipe is the bomb! I am definitely going to try it. It looks so rich and moist. I have made cornbread similar to yours but with jiffy cornbread mix. I like the idea of adding cornmeal to the greased skillet. And you used rice and my recipe just used the corn. I'm excited! I was trying to read the name of the cornmeal bag. Is that Martha White?
