Great content and very helpful review as always. I have a question... How about 3D sculpting performance by utilizing the apps like Nomad or Forger on the iPad Air 5 M1 with 8gb ram vs iPad Pro 2020 with 6gb ram vs iPad Pro M1 with 8gb ram (2021)? In long term use and especially for 3D sculpting, to a tight budgeted person like me, which one do you really recommend to get? Thanks in advance!

Could you possibly do a sculpture that pushes the limit of nomad sculpt for the 16gb ipad pro with m1 before crashes?
I ask because im not sure how far sculpting can go in terms of details and objects, and since your really good at sculpting. I would love to see how far you can push it.
I thought this might also help people that are using or want to use nomad so they know what their able to do with limitations.
I was thinking a full body creature or person, that allows for as much details and subtools as you can get.

I’ve got the 8 GB and seems to run fine! I get about 16 million vertices before things get slow

That's a bit of a let down for me...since I like to do lots of details, I'm using the 8GB version of the M1, and sometimes it crashes while using that option or Dynamic Topology for too long.

Figures. Procreate prevents this by preventing you from making new layers once you use up your allocated ram but Nomad doesn't have limits and I was wondering when I would hit the ceiling (haven't so far as I only use nomad for blocking/sketches).

I have an Iphone 11pro...but i am intrigued with Nomad Sculpt. I do not have an ipad. Would you anticipate that i would have a frustrating experience with Nomad Sculpt. Also, I have a Sculpt (not Retopologized) that has 1 million polygons that i sculpted in Blender. I want to make a depth map from it in Nomad Sculpt (because it appears (from a video i watched) so muc easier). Will that present a problem (memory wise). Is there any work around for the memory requirements?

I guess I pushed it to far in that case. Keeps crashing... But still love the app

Is this a Nomad issue or an ipad issue? I ask because I have an S8 Ultra (12gb) and wondered if this might affect me at some stage.

It is the same issue in any device

I don’t see it as an issue just something to be aware of. Once you know then ceiling where you,get crashes you can work around it. Decimate models often to keep the ram free.

i not facing this issue yet in s8 ultra . hope i wont

@@B3D that means you are controlling it well. Keeping an eye on the polycount and ram usage means you will never have the issue.

    I made the stupid mistake of not decimating the different parts I'd sculpted before simple-merging them all together. Now the full model is 10m vertices (which is overwhelming my ipad) and the stats show 2188MB used and 723MB free, which shouldn't be that bad but I still have no way of reducing the size because whatever I do crashes the app. I can't undo the merge, I can't decimate, I can't trim, I can't remesh. If anyone has any idea of how I can get my model back to a manageable size, please help ;-;

fuck same did u ever find a fix?

    • @Oratordio

You’re going to have to export it and take it into a 3d program and retop it yourself or use zbrushes reduce function which could be available in the free trial

You should never ever get a model with millions of polys that’s extremely nooby. To put it in perspective Moana the rig old have like max 250,000 verts for deformations

Maybe IOS16 will fix this with the new SWAP (virtual memory)Feature.
