I think the pricing might be questioned by some after the interior and tech has not been updated much. Well the overall product? Damn they made sure it is a well rounded and capable SUV that feels like it will last for many years to come.
There were some dark stretches of the road where those LED headlights don't look like they doing a good job of lighting up the road effectively. Unless it was the camera. How did it look while driving?
I have to say, it's one of the best night drives due to the adaptive LEDs. True, there are times when they can project better, they are disturbed by any sort of light ahead, including streetlights and red traffic lights. It can't predict between the cars and other lights. Overall, I found it to be very responsive to dark areas, like projecting on the side so if anything (animals or people) was to come out of nowhere you could pick it up.
@@sebuwam I agree with you, I have the same one as yours, Its best when its overally in High Beam Auto. It responds well to car lights but street lights can be an issue before it realizes it and corrects itself
Thank you so much Blessing. I will be working on it after the car leaves. 🙂 The car was given to me by Mazda SA, its not coming from the dealership. Which is why I can't relate it to any specific dealership.🙏🏽🤜🏾
I was also hoping the updated Cx5 will have the CX30 infotainment and steering wheel, but looks like nothing has changed. Can’t wait for the full review
Yep, inside they did not change it. I also thought they will but it looks like there is a totally new one coming soon the way they did it. Even elsewhere they added the new screen but not much has changed. I will bring the closing review later, will probably bring 2 videos before that one. The updates and Gravel Road test are next.🙏🏽🤜🏾
Great car 😎. I've been a fan of outdated version and I love this new variant as well. I can't wait for the full rev. I also noticed that there's a CX-50 & CX-60 Internationally. Will these models also be available in South Africa as well??
It looks stunning with the changes made on the exterior. I dropped updates and gravel test earlier. Check it here: th-cam.com/video/S6Iqd_JwB9I/w-d-xo.html The CX-50 is a wide body and I don't think its coming here. CX-60 I am not sure as yet!
You can say that again. The MZD connect is quite old and if there is one area in the interior that needed a refresh is that one because the design and layout is still okay by today's standards. I think the engine one they are protecting the price, this one is R730K and in the country Mazda is not seen to be as premium as other countries, so the top spec CX-5 at +R800K might not sell like a standard Mercedes at the same price. Brand Loyalty is still rife out there🤨
@@sebuwam I agree that including the turbocharged engine will make the top spec expensive,,but if Honda and VW were able to price there Mid size SUVs close to R800k and people still buying them ,,then I believe Mazda could pull it off. The range topping Tiguan r-line 2L is about R750k without options. And to get the same amount of tec in the Tiguan compared to the CX-5, the price of the Tiguan is significantly higher, above R800k ,and the CRV is also just under the R800k mark for the top of the range
@@Kopsnkops you got to love how we talk about car prices these days. It's a sad day when we throw numbers around like R750k/R800k as if it's ok and anybody can afford it!! These things are way overpriced like most premium SUV's. I'll stick to my way more affordable hatch which at its current value I can get 4 of them compared to only 1 of these SUV'S!!!
@@H.I.I.T68 unfortunately we’ll have to accept that car prices are rising especially for mid size SUVs and SUVs in this segment, which start over R500k. And it’s a petty that here in SA we are not spoiled for choice when it comes to mid size sedans, we can only look at brands like BMW with the 3 series and Mercedes with the C-class nd Audi with the A4, which are undoubtedly expensive
Hi Mateye, as explained before: you can get +/-8L/100km on this one since it's a diesel. If you push it harder though t will not be forgiving. It's still much better than petrol though which can return around 10L/100km so I heard
Nice car show Sebuwa. I couldn’t quite see the adaptive lights working at all. I presume it’s better in the flesh…as for the car itself…this segment of cars is extremely competitive. Anybody who cares of their financial need at moment can’t go throw 800k to an suv, don’t they even have a BT50 with similar power for 799k? Why would someone buy an suv for this kind of money it’s scary! The engine seems quite noisy for a sub 800k vehicle🤔🤦🏿I mean it seems to cruise nicely at highway speed but any extra stomp on pedal you have to hear the noise maybe that nice radio system it has will offset the noise for future owners 🤓😂. Personally I love styling and stuff but like I’ve sometimes mentioned I’d rather spend little more get their bakkie once won’t have same technology but il certainly have more practical use 🤠🔑👏🏻
Thanks a lot Ozem.🙂 Yeah, I realised that the camera did not pick it up as I would have liked. I have a darker area drive which is clear but it was not gonna fit well in the video. I also agree with you on the pricing, it does have some challenge also crossing over to the BT-50 which may be chosen over the Akera. I am however seeing much more value on the lower specs, my pick being the Carbon Edition, I love Mazda's 2.0L N/A engines as they feel powerful despite not having turbo, and the Carbon Edition looks as beautiful. The sound system does cancel any in-cabin noise from outside as it is well balanced, the engine sound inside is really not bad, it does not sound agricultural or like its struggling at all, maybe what got you worried is the fact that it pulls all the way to the red line before shifting when pulling it hard but its not as bad for a diesel.
At the price point yes, they could have put a lot of things they have starved the SA market of: Like Heated and cooled front seat, bigger infotainment, Radar cruise control. Traffice fign recognition. (these things have been internationally available if not since 2017) But overall speaking the interior build quality is way above whats on the market. This can only reflect after a period of time (Except for the piano black). But hey cars are all getting expensive hey

This is one of the few in this segment available as AWD diesel if not the only one. It is a sweet spot for Mazda to capitalize

I’m so happy we now have a turbo charged cx5.

It really is different to all the others, pitty it's only offered on top spec which is a little out of reach for many people

Why they always give us a small screen but over seas it comes with a bigger screen?
My question exactly. Don’t know why we’re still getting the 8” screen when these new CX-5s come with a 10.25” screens ☹️
I think thats a let down for us, I have a feeling that semi conductor shortage contributed to that.🤔
All the best to the future owners of this 2,2 Diesel, look out for the weak head gasket that was never recalled here in SA
