      Antibiotic drops only work for bacterial conjunctivitis. With viral conjunctivitis it has to run its course. Which one did you have?

    Ok so about (hyper)acute bacterial conjunctivitis, does it heal on its own? How much does it usually last? And about the hyperacute one and the complex terms you used about it (i'm not a doctor lol i coudn't understand everything) what should you do about it again and what is the difference between hyperacute and normal bacterial conjunctivitis? (If possible in easier to understand for non-doctor terms 😅)

    Why is the discharge purulent in bacterial case and watery in viral?

    • @DeezNuts-jh1hh

      Pus is the death of white blood cells, once they release oxidative burst they die forming the pus along with the dead bacteria. Viral infections cause the T and B lymphocytes to respond and attack the virus but dont usually die hence no pus

    I've been experiencing conjunctivitis for quite a long time (not sure if it's viral or bacterial). It isn't viral since it occurs only for my right eye. I use antibiotic drops to get rid of it, but it always comes back. I was thinking if this antibiotic is sort of a maintenance for my conjunctivitis not to come back.

    Please help. I’m 22 years old. Male. 1 week ago it started hurting when I urinate. And still is painful. 5 days ago bacterial conjunctivitis started in my right eye. And last night it started in my left eye. I’ve tried my research. I’m getting mixed answers of Chlamydia, Chlamydia Conjunctivitis, or a UTI infection that made its way to my eyes. My bladder is fast acting. When I drink water, it comes out 5-10 minutes later. When I go a few hours without water, nothing comes out. And urination is fast as if I can’t keep a full bladder. I had unprotected sex 2 weeks ago. I got antibiotics Doxycycline Monohydrate and Ciprofloxacin HCL to treat possible Chlamydia. I don’t have money. I don’t have insurance. I can’t afford a doctor.

      Hello man
      I'm a graduating medical student in Iran. Your history really indicates mature clamidyal conjunctivitis and the proper treatment is doxycycline 100mg twice a day for 7 day although it is a self-limited infection and should go away in a few months but taking antibiotic seems a better approach
      I really appreciate if you share with me your progres

    I’ve been diagnosed with viral conjunctivitis I’ve had it a week and there hasn’t been an improvement. I’ve been two optician and eye hospital. Both have said there is nothing serious going on with my eyes and is just viral conjunctivitis, the pain is so bad I can’t work and focus on a monitor and I have light sensitivity. Not sure what else I can do other than wait this out?

    • @kellegeez
      @kellegeez 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      With viral conjunctivitis you just have to wait it out. I'm sure the eye doctor have already told you this. It's very annoying and can make you miserable, but be patient and let it run its course. I'm currently going through this and it's been taking a toll on me, but be hopeful. It started in one eye and spread to the other three days later. It's been 10 days and its slowly getting better. I wish you a quick recovery and healing.

    • @Trxggy
      @Trxggy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You don’t have to “ wait it out “ . Coming from someone who’s recently gotten conjunctivitis ( and still is dealing with the symptoms partially ) . My eyes got so bad I almost lost my vision because I was told “ I had to wait it out “ . Got admitted to the hospital and was given a super high dosage of steroids ( through IV ) and took steroid pills . Most definitely got me better , but now I’m at the point here I have to let it run it’s course . I’m dealing with eye pain here and there , no redness . Eye inflammation on my upper eyelids . It’s a long process , but it’ll slowly but surely ease up .
