I don't know anything about horse racing but the emotion on the jockey's retelling is impressive and contagious. You can tell he still feels the thrill.

I only know Wayne D Lukas from reading the book ‘The Greatest Gambling Story Ever Told’ a story that has elements of seabiscuit and the behind the scenes story of Winning Colors

I can fill you in on why Lukas was in a tiny closet watching the race in there. I read the book ‘The Greatest Gambling Story ever told’. The book goes in depth of the events on that day. Lukas had so much nerves that he had to get away from the crowd. He could not stomach the tension. So, he found this little closet. A reporter spotted Lukas at that moment and squeezed into the tiny room, and they watched the race on a tiny black and white tv.the rest is history.

Two of the greatest fillies were Winning Colors and Serena's Song and they were both trained by Wayne Lukas and ridden by Gary Stevens, and Corey Nakatani rode Serena too. Lukas/Stevens was such a great combination.

Yes and she carried 121 the boys 126 that surely helped and no doubt Stevens in his prime slipped thru the cracks and caught everyone a step behind all things aligned for a victory but most of all lukas had the best wardrobe for the occasion

Well I’m from New Orleans so I’m a little prejudice but she wasn’t the biggest and the strongest Risen Star was lol of all the horses that missed out on a triple crown in those 30 something years Risen Star is the one that should have won it but that horse racing lol that 20 horse field got him like so many other but he would beat the filly 10 out of 10 time one on one but like i said I’m a little prejudice lol Lucas did a helleva job with the filly I just wish he had stopped with the derby, I kinda understand going to the Preakness but she should never have gone to New York that was just cruel, she was a shell of herself at that point and you could see it , she definitely wasn’t the biggest and strongest at that point, that was one of the worst decisions I can remember anyone ever doing with a horse of that caliber anyway, hard to question a man like that but I thought it was a horrible decision then and I still do and I’m a fan of his , I love his interviews , I could listen to him talk all day lol not hating on the man just an opinion
