Alysheba also one of my favorite horses After Slew 'o Gold. Unbelievable how Alysheba got back up at the 1/4 pole. Absolutely unbelievable and Amazing.
I was 13 when I saw this race, my gosh I loved this horse so much. To this day, I have a scrapbook of newspaper clippings of him. Beautiful and courageous. ❤❤
I was there! Reporting for WLKY 32 from on top of the Presentation Stand in the middle of the track. I got to see the whole race from there. And on top of it I won $100 on a $5 bet. Alysheba also won the Breeders Cup at the same track. What a great horse and rider. What a great experience.
Alysheba was one of smoothest, prettiest movers when he galloped. He was all class. I remember one morning before the Preakness, Chris was aboard at the gap in Pimlico chatting with one of the outriders . Alysheba was quietly standing next to the pony watching other horses gallop and breeze by. He had his final prep for the Preakness a 3/8 breeze that went in :37 and a piece. Everyone commented on how slow that was. Van Berg knew what he was doing. Al was one of my favorites.
I remember he was prepping for the String stakes, his 1st race as a 4 yr. Old. Van Berg made the unusual move of working him 1 mi. 1/4 off the layoff. He worked faster than his derby time 2:03 yes , the former leading trainer of all time sure knew what he was doing!♥️🙏👉🇺🇸
Okay, that confirms it, Alysheba was my favorite horse of all time! And I think McCarron is my favorite jockey! Along with Eddie D.! Won the BC Classic what, 4 times, plus lost by a nose in 87? Take that Jerry Bailey..♥️🙏👉🇺🇸
Love the horse and chris mc carron place money on him every time they ran and I was only 12 year old . I was there at the Breeders cup when he ran second to Ferdinand.
