    That was one of the best reviews of the MacBook Pro so far. I like the fact that you compared it with the previous model; other popular channels like The Verge didn't do this. Also, I like your deep voice.

    Yep, the keyboard is definitely louder but not to the point where I would care. While I do think they are overpriced, especially the touch bar ones, I will probably still eventually buy one, I'm a sucker for space gray.

      Yes, the keyboard looks like lost in a pond on the 15, that's why after ordering the 15 on the day of the keynote, I cancelled and ordered a 13 the next day :) And lost a week in the process .. (but also got back to a more "reasonable" price..

    the typing this is that you are clearly hitting the keys way harder than you need to... on the older laptops you have more travel so you are having to push down more... on the newer laptops you dont have to push down as hard, but because you are used to the old way you are actually pressing more than you need to... over time your typing will adjust and i think you will find that the new keyboard is quieter than the older models...

    Coming from someone who has the new Mac with touch bar (I'm writing this with it) I can say its a great computer. The keyboard I was skeptical at first because I hated the keyboard on the Macbook but I must say the new generation keyboard is fantastic and it feels great. The touch bar is a neat feature and I do love the new ways to use the computer with it but because its new there isn't enough support from third party devs for it yet but still a nice feature to have on your computer. Overall the new MacBook pro with the touch is fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone.

    I would consider the 13 inch macbook pro with touch bar to be the best out of all the versions. It's not to big, really powerful, and its only a 300 dollar difference between the normal 13 inch. In that 300 dollar difference, you are getting 4 thunderbolt 3 ports, more ram, faster processer, much better graphics and a touch bar. So personally the 300 dollar difference is worth it. :)

    • @burrichjoker5328
      @burrichjoker5328 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Asark sark the 13 inch macbook pro without touch bar cost 1299 without taxes with taxes will be 1400 and with touch bar is 1999 without taxes and with taxes cost 2100, so the real difference will be 700$ bucks so there is a big difference in the price

    I don't see the point to make a laptop touch screen, your screen will be always dirty and plenty of fingerprints on it. 3-4 pounds item with touchscreen is no confortable or manuable for being portable. Its nice but not practical on my opinion.

    • @wesleyjordan8349
      @wesleyjordan8349 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Oh Shut your ignorant ass up. Apple used to use only dedicated GPU's in their 12" Powerbooks for years before they switched over to Intel. From there they started making much thinner laptops and created the 13" Macbook Pro with IGPU to keep the heat down. Am I happy about this? NO. I wanted the new 13" Macbook Pro to have a dGPU, but at least I'm not making ignorant, non-educated idiotic statements like you. You're exactly why the internet can be a horrible place for solid information.

  • @nickswanson9925

    Bought a 13" model... lifelong PC user prior to this. Won't turn back. Those who say touch bar is pointless probably haven't used it, or aren't using applications where it helps. Display is beautiful and its so smooth to type on. Honestly, to buy a PC that preforms as well as this, you still have to spend quite a bit, and are most likely going to end up with something that has a pixelated display and a shittier keyboard.

    • @nickswanson9925

      That will out perform the touch bar version I believe as the geek bench numbers are 4048 | 7903. It has better battery life, and speakers and only a slightly slower GPU, which you may not even notice and a unproven touchable bar. All this for the same money. I know which one i'd be getting and I think you might have made a good choice.

      Listening to the speaker difference in this video (with headphones) I didn't really notice a significant difference. I'd say it's worth trying the touchbar model in a store to see if it's worth it to you. Ultimately, it comes down to your personal use case and preference, though.

    • @bensonwu8
      @bensonwu8 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      T U C K F R U M P I'd say no because for $300 extra you aren't gaining much bit you are losing a lot. Less than 10% performance boost, touch bar, 2 ports extra. You'll probably be using a dongle anyways so the ports are negligible. Up to you to decide about touch bar, but I feel like it's a gimmick. Some reviewers have been putting the battery life as low as 6 - 7 hours, compared to the 10 on the base model. Speakers also seem noticeably worse in my opinion. Losing things for more money just doesn't feel good imo

    I have played around with my MacBook Pro 13inch with the Touch Bar for about a week now. My favorite improvements are as follows:
    1. Volume
    2. Resolution
    3. Speed
    I come from using the 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina display. The three that I have mentioned have stood out the most in regards to improvements.
    Regarding the touch bar: I really am getting accustomed to it. When I am watching TH-cam videos, I really like the option that it gives on the touch bar to search the video. However, when it comes to Netflix, it only gives you the amount of the videos left of what it has buffered; I am not quite sure what they can do to improve that.
    In addition with the touch bar, I do not see me using the IOS feature with the words appearing on the top. I rarely use that with my iPhone, so I do not see me using it. However, I do love the Emoji bar; I am using the emoji's a lot more now.
    Compared to my 2013 model, Siri works more seamlessly. Before, the 2013 version was a bit choppy and having difficulty even using Siri. Now, I am able to use Siri without hassle. (However, I feel like using Siri is a process of getting used to.)
    I agree what you said about the keyboard. I feel like this keyboard is a lot faster. At first, I am unsure because I was so used to the keys being a bit higher up. However, with using the keyboard more, I find it more comfortable. (Side note: I love the sound of the keys. It's possibly one of my favorite sounds! However, hopefully they do not disrupt those when you are in a quiet area such as a library.)
    One of the downfalls that I have seen recently has been the battery. I am not having this problem at all; I've gotten at least the 10 hours that Apple has prompted. When I am streaming videos online, I also search the web. With the time for streaming, I say I get about 6 hours from constant usage. When I am browsing the web only, I am getting at least 10 hours. (I want to say the reason being is that I have my brightness down. I find this to help with all my Apple products.)
    In addition, I do agree with you on the laptop for a whole. There are some improvements that they will be making in the future; possibly through software improvements that we will see in the next few months to a couple years. I really have fun using this laptop. It's light (compared to what I am used to) and convenient to my lifestyle. The adaptors make no difference to me. I have invested in a USB flash drive with both the traditional dangle on one side and the USB C on the other; this makes transitioning to my laptop to another, since I am in school, a lot more smoothly.
    Thank you for your review! It's very well done and informative!
    Megan

      If its only for speed, you might get a 15 inch, even an old one (2014/15), they are much still better that the 13 inch models, but what makes the 13 inch is the touch bar and that you get 4 ports, which is 3 times as good as 2 (1 is gonna be used for charging anyway)

    because of the speakers, the MacBook pro with touch bar is a big fat disappointment, are the speaker grills just there for decoration? this is why I'm buying the baseline model and not the touch bar version, also i went to the apple store and tried out the touch bar version, its not very useful and feels a bit weird when using it for essential stuff such as pressing the escape key

    • @vertedintro
      @vertedintro 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The speakers are located elsewhere because they are creating ports for the speakers. Putting your hand on the grill should change the sound.

    • @cicalinarrot
      @cicalinarrot 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Get a 2015 model then: all the ports you want, SD slot, magsafe, old style keyboard.
      About the "esc" key, I don't really understand why you all want it. It will be there on the bar when you need it but it already affected the "software" side only before, it won't work now only in situations when it wouldn't have worked before.

    • @JamesJDMoe
      @JamesJDMoe 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      lmao you can't claim the touchbar isn't useful after playing with it for 10 min at the apple store. the touchbar is def useful and will continue to become more useful in time, unlike the base model traditional fn keys. also the speaker difference is incredibly marginal, basically no difference.

      If you look at teardowns, or even Apple's product information page, you'll see that the speaker drivers differ in location between models. In the touchbar model, the speaker drivers are located underneath the palm rest. If you can't tell the difference, then it probably means that it doesn't really matter all that much.

    It does actually have speakers under the grill. There's tweeter on either side of the keyboard while the grills on the underside host 2 woofers on each side. So the touchbar version actually has 6 speakers in total. I personally find the sound a bit more balanced on the touchbar compared to the non touchbar MacBook Pro. But that's really a personal preference.

    • @cicalinarrot
      @cicalinarrot 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Why do you people keep on looking at specs, when it's clear Apple doesn't and they're always (kinda) right? They just put in a processor that they think will fit most buyers' needs. Who buys the base models won't probably go heavy rendering. The Core M in the Macbook sounds ridiculous but gives performance good enough for the on-the-go usage buyers want. 2GB of RAM, only two cores on the iPhones, mixed with software give the right power and battery life (well, according to their idea you still need to charge your phone everyday).
      Stop judging Macs on paper, maybe they're actually not powerful enough but you can't know until you buy one and find yourself in a situation that requires more power.

    Don't get me wrong I like watching the unboxing videos, but I hate it when TH-camrs like DetroitBORG are first in line to buy every single new product available at launch just to film a 5 minute review and then return them back to Apple (possibly returning them back to the retailer as a faulty or unwanted product) and making people like me who have paid over $3500 for a new MacBook Pro to wait even longer (maybe until after christmas) to receive one that they are actually planning on keeping. Apple and many other retailers seriously need to revise their returns policies. I'm not saying that this is exactly how all TH-camrs work, but I can't imagine anyone else but Apple supplying the new MacBook Pro at this time and I don't think Apple are one for giving out free products to review and return.

      Amir Lalami You do know that he buys all of the things he reviews with his own money and keeps them. He in fact does not return them so...?

      +Mod/Tune Have you not seen any of his unboxing videos? He buys products in each and every single colour available (so I doubt he plans on keeping them). He even mentioned in his MacBook Pro 15 Touch Bar review video that he custom ordered it because he is planning on keeping it...

      Amir Lalami why would you even want a phone that scratches so easily?

    On the topic of the speakers, both have the same, a tweeter under each side of the grille, up-firing, with a subwoofer under both side.

    Thank you for your amazing videos for the Macbook Pro 2016. I've been wanting to switch into a Macbook laptop and your reviews regarding the latest Pro will definitely help me choose which one to get.

    i have this macbook. and you use the touch bar way more than you think you would. i was hesitant about getting this macbook because i thought i would never use it, but i use it so much! it is so useful! if you have the $300 to upgrade, i would!
