Hi I have a question! Do you think if an oboe is poorly made can that effect the pitch your instruments playing? Like I have a selmer oboe and when I play a nomaral A flat it sometimes comes out higher even if I make lips looser.
Yes, for sure if an instrument isn’t properly made you’ll have occurrences where the intonation is off. For instance, the bells diameter can even change the intonation for a couple a notes. I had this problem with my instrument.
@@Zekes_Oboe Yes, and even crazier: I'm not an oboist. I just think he uses too much vibrato. And it's too strong! He sounds like he's playing a shawm sometimes.
This was definitely a really interesting video. I’m definitely going to try using some of these tips in my playing. Very cool!
Yes, definitely incorporate them!

Another issue could be that a key is stuck. When was the last time you adjusted your instrument?
@@Zekes_Oboe I never done that before! but I did have some of my pads replaced last year.
Thanks for the tips, you did a great job explaining everything! I'll certainly try experimenting with some of these.
Thank you! Yes, definitely try all of these tips!
Albrecht Mayer is a great oboist…but I don’t actually like his sound
Hot take!
