Music 🎼 is a language that speaks the heart of God. All people recognize and understand this language. Even small children understand this language. I was playing Brahm’s once, a sad tune, and the 2 year old girl I was babysitting began to cry. I had to turn the music off. It broke her heart.

I wasn't raised on classical music and discovered Vivaldi by watching Runaway Train. This performance of the whole Gloria In D Major work is utterly mindblowing in its execution. So beautiful. Thank you. (I wonder what Vivaldi would have thought watching Runaway Train.)

@@Geoplanetjane Not as impressive as this. However, it's really as if the music finds you these days with the internet putting so much at our immediate disposal. I am now 71 years old and had I been made to listen to Vivaldi's brilliant work in my teens it would have given me a headache as I would not have had the appropriate receptors to take it in. I have wide and eclectic tastes and I have a large collection of music written specifically for cinema. John Barry, Ennio Morricone, Lalo Schifrin, Elmer Bernstein, Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams and many others. Writing for the screen is a double dicipline as the music must match what's on the screen as well as stand on its own merits. Not classical in the old sense but brilliant nonetheless. Try Morricone's score for The Mission as a starting point. Stunning.

I always liked singing along to songs in the radio when I was a kid. When I got older I learned how fun it is to get into choral groups, and now I really appreciate music like this. Unfortunately I am not a very good singer, I just really enjoy it. So I sing with Sacred Harp singers, because it is really fun, really powerful, historically interesting, and they will literally take anyone. In fact many of them think that having some less skilled singers in the group is part of what gives the music its unique sound. Anyway I know plenty of elderly people who still come to the sings for the music and company, and they still sing along with everyone else.

Anybody who thinks the Catholic church did nothing for civilization, needs to remember that Vivaldi was a Catholic priest, writing this beautiful music for the Catholic Mass, to be sung in a beautiful Catholic Cathedral, filled with beautiful Catholic art.

Too many Catholics have no idea of the fantastic classical musical, philosophical, artistic, architectural, and even scientific heritage they are a part of, an unbroken tradition going back over 1900 yrs.

@@richard40x that's twisted logic. I wonder what beautiful music Vivaldi might have composed if he had lived in a charitable orphanage instead of a n indoctrination institution.

@@unknownchannel3141 ... you mean like the charitable orphanages run in his time by... the Catholic Church? the Church some kickass music. Let Richard rejoice in that.

@@unknownchannel3141you may be right with the indoctrination, though actually he more or less lived in a charitable orphanage. He started with composing music for it and the orphans played it.
