    Thank you so much you videos have been very helpful! For a first time user!
    How would you save them on top of one another? Say you needed 6 or 8 images?
    And is the power setting Inkscape, and the setup box and the override all separate? So basically do you have 3 chances to crank the power? (Having trouble getting to engrave metal)
    Thanks for your help!

      Hello Gina Swann, thank you for your comment.
      To save multiple images in one file you will first need to append them (under file > append files) paying attention to offset them in the final window so that each image goes in your wanted location then you can use the save option from file > quick save.
      As for the power, you set the power for each individual image in the final window, so if you use different powers, this will be saved accordingly.
      You can use the overrides once is all set up and also during operation if you wish to change speed or power, in a file with multiple power settings, the override will scale the power and the speed of each part accordingly.
      I hope it helps.

      Hello Eldin Pajić, thank you for your comment.
      I haven't ever encountered such a problem, but we can try to troubleshoot it.
      Is this a persistent problem, or does it happen from time to time, also does it happen always or does the machine use to work fine?
      Have you been trying other software? Does this behaviour show just with images in LaserGRBL or with every type of format?
      There could multiple reasons for that to happen some could be the wiring, some firmware/software-based:
      - Try to check the current version of your firmware and install a new one if outdated, I just checked that the latest firmware for your machine is the 1.42 available here ortur.tech/latest-firmware/
      If you have some problem updating the firmware I recently posted a video about it, it is based on the Aufero machine but is the same for Ortur | th-cam.com/video/VJeA-Tl3MCQ/w-d-xo.html
      - If this problem shows up since your first run, ensure that all the wiring is properly connected, try to unplug and replug the cables.
      Try to uninstall and re-install LaserGRBL.
      Let me know
      Ciao

      Hello Steve Benner, thank you for your comment and compliments.
      It is a configuration issue. if your machine has limiting switches (if is like mine it should NEJE Master 2S Plus) then go to Grbl > Grbl Configuration, this will launch the configuration window, scroll down and look for $22 it should say "Homing cycle enable" and set it to 1.
      Now you should see your home button, when you click it the axes should move to home.
      Pay attention to the direction of the movement, if it goes in the opposite direction in some of the axes simply click the limiting switches by hand to prevent it from hitting the frame or limit and overdriving (making a terrible noise), if this is the case just let me know so I can guide you on how to do correct it.

    • @MiddleRoomWorkshop
      @MiddleRoomWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Steve Benner, thank you for your comment.
      Is important for me to understand if the machine homes in the correct direction at least, and I know you told me that you have the same machine as I, but can you ensure yourself that you have the homing switches? if you do not know where to look I have a video showing the anatomy of the machine th-cam.com/video/2g8hH0WZmIg/w-d-xo.html
      Is the laser module moving toward the main axes, and the small axes moving toward the side with the power cable?
      if it does, then the issue is the parameter $22 "Soft limit Enable" check if it is correctly set to 1.
      If the machine goes in the opposite direction somewhere then you need to reverse the homing direction by setting the right value in the parameter $23 "Homing direction invert", the value should be as follows:
      0 = No inversion (the axes home correctly),
      1 = Invert the X-axes (the small axes in your machine),
      2 = Invert the Y-axes (the big axes in your machine),
      3 = Invert both the X and Y axes.
      Let me know how it goes.

      @@MiddleRoomWorkshop Thank you again for helping me out. When I click the home button it goes in the right direction everything goes towards the circuit board. But it seems like the switches are not turning the motor off. It just sits there in clicks and clicks and clicks to where I have to turn it off. Somehow the switches are not getting a message that they’re being pushed.

    how do you determine what the exact power strength is at the lighter color?

    • @MiddleRoomWorkshop
      @MiddleRoomWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Carlie Novak, thank you for your comment.
      Unfortunately, once the file is loaded there is no way in the interface to understand any parameter including the power.
      The shading rendered on the canvas will give you an idea of which part is settled with a higher or lighter power, but that's pretty much all.
      I hope it helps.

    • @MiddleRoomWorkshop
      @MiddleRoomWorkshop  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Roberto Hernandez, thank you for your comment.
      Unfortunately, LaserGRBL does not support these file formats. All you could do is convert the text into an image format like .png or .jpg, which is easier by screenshotting the test you like.
      Once that is done, you cold either vectorized the image in LaserGRBL or simply prepare it as image engrave, eitherways you should get a clean result thanks to the contrast and crispness of the text.
      Let me know how it goes.

    When you are sizing the image to engrave, are the numbers in millimeters or inches?

    • @MiddleRoomWorkshop
      @MiddleRoomWorkshop  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, Rob Dunham; thank you for your feedback.
      The units are in millimetres.
      LaserGRBL is not meant to work in Inches, from what I can see.
      The software should be unitless, meaning that the number you set is what is sent to the machine, the machine needs to know if the values its receiving are either in millimetres or inches, but it does not convert between them, that is to say that if you set a value to 1000mm and than decide to set the machine to inches, the controller of the machine reads 1000 no matter the units, and in this case that would yield to 1000 inches which you can see that is incorrect and way faster.
      I could try explaining a workaround, but the software is really design in mm, therefore the only way around is to use some gcode units converters or some Excell conversion table.
      I hope it helps
      Ciao

    • @MiddleRoomWorkshop
      @MiddleRoomWorkshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, rtalbott7; thank you for your comment.
      The hard limit corresponds to the limiting switches installed on your machine and limits the travel distance of the axis.
      If the machine has microswitches, this could be caused by a false contact while the machine moves; therefore, I recommend checking the connections.
      If the machine does not have microswitches, therefore homing function, this function can be disabled in the GRBL configuration by setting the parameter $21 to 0.

    hi, is thera wayto engrave and cut the image after?

    • @MiddleRoomWorkshop
      @MiddleRoomWorkshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, DIY Family; thank you for your comment.
      Yes, but in LaserGRBL is not as simple.
      First, load and optimize the image you wish to engrave and try to get rid of engravings that extend beyond the margin that corresponds to the cutting you want to execute. For this, you may need to use some software to remove the background as needed.
      Second, create the outline of the image you want to cut afterwards. You can do that with Inkscape, with particular attention to the dimensions. Normally I would load the image in Inkscape, set the same size in LaserGRBL and move the image to the origin of the canvas. I either draw a shape corresponding to the cutting line, trace an outline of the Image using the "Draw Bezier Curves" and then offset by some amount.
      Once that is done, save the file and append it to LaserGRBL. LaserGRBL reads SVGs and will prompt you to set speed and power. If the dimension were respected, that should land precisely where you want.
      Let me know how it goes.
      Ciao

      Hi, Angela Smith; thank you for your comment.
      The only way to engrave text with fill (I guess that is what you are looking for) is to import the text part of your project as an image.
      An alternative option is to use some workaround in Inkscape and import the whole project as svg. I showed this trick in Part 4 th-cam.com/video/ufGtD3_NnFM/w-d-xo.html.

    • @MiddleRoomWorkshop
      @MiddleRoomWorkshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Harvey N; thank you for your comment.
      The preparation of the image varies a lot depending on the actual image, contrasts and details.
      You must play around with the parameters to separate the fore and the background.
      However, a raster editing tool may be necessary for your image.
      You may try using Paint or Inkscape clipping tools if the image is not complex.
      I hope it helps

    • @MiddleRoomWorkshop
      @MiddleRoomWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Javier Padilla Rodriguez, thank you for your comment.
      Do you mean the power?
      There is no option to select between engraving and cutting, it all depends on the parameters, the higher the power the deeper it goes, similarly the lower the speed the deeper it goes.
      You need to test with your specific material and different power and speed settings to find the correct spot.
      If you tell me what laser module you are using I can try to help with the parameters
