Man. Big ups to Tim. It’s cool to have seen his evolution designing slugs . Not just any slug passes through the lead plate and he’s gotten really good at various designs.
I like the underwater stability test. It’s like a wind tunnel test you can do at home! I also thought the air bubble it took into the water with it was interesting.
Damn these slugs remind me of those enormous 2- and 3-ounce slugs Remington sells for users of their massive 8 gauge Blastermaster kiln guns to blow clinker and slag off of rotary kilns and other similar plant while they're still in operation
These slugs are DANGEROUS 🤯 Even with the obvious instability and messy separation they stayed on target and delivered DEVASTATING damage with near zero deformation on the projectile. Outstanding work.
F,A,F,O earned it's name on that lead skillet! K-pow boom said the little slug shaped like old school milk bottle. Some fine shooting Zach, Jeff u did great as always. 10, cause it's a 10 outta 10 big man.

This was a beast of a shell. Punched the Kevlar stuffing right through that gummy and punched clean through the 2" lead plate. That's one hell of a punch.
You said your powder was supposed to be consistent at all temperatures. If I were you, I'd never believe that. I was on Abrams tanks and no matter the outside temp, we ALWAYS entered a temp reading in our ballistic computers. I've hit targets nearly out to 4K (and once further on a dare) and I wholeheartedly believe that temperatures make a difference! Love your work. I wanna say I've been following you off and on since 2012. Great guest shooters with lots of personality. Keep it rolling 'Fledermaus!
I should have known better and kept the shells on ice (which we have done before with good results) Honestly, based on the accuracy we didn't think there was a problem with the wads blowing out

Simply Devastating ! Zach did a fine job of managing the recoil from those mammoth slugs and those hits Zach made at 50 yards were particularly impressive . 😮 This is by far the best performance slug and video I have seen you shoot thus far! WOW when it sucked that plate through the wound cavity and scarier yet full penetration (O.G.) of the lead plate.....thats a spooky ass round! Great video...great shooting!
This might be the most impressive load test I've seen so far. Especially given the subsonic nature. I'd love to see the channel revisit this in the future if Tim/Ballistic Machinist makes any changes to the wad or someone figures out a better load. This looks like a fabulous lead free hunting projectile that should in theory not tear up the meat so bad.

Fascinating! You'll get a more accurate simulation in the water drop test if you begin with the projectile completely submerged. Entrained air bubbles create their own drag and affect the observed performance of the projectile.

I remembered something fun... put a second diablo head on the first one on a diablo shape with a small groove between them and wrap that with cord when you pack the cup. Wanna use non-plastic cord tho.

When the first words out are "Holy crap", you know it is an impressive round. I like the Seismic rounds profiled here a few years ago. Have a Kodiak, three 600lb plus hogs, a buffalo, & a big arse bull moose from these slugs.

I was laughing along right with all of you, then that monster slug blew right through the gummy bear taking the kevlar with it. I replayed that a few times, that was incredible! Thank you all, that is one scary slug, and yea, subsonic, supressor-Frightening indeed!

Just a thought... I wonder if some of the glue made contact with the barrel when the plastic shredded/melted? That could certainly affect accuracy. Might be a good idea to inspect the barrel for glue residue. Great job as always!
The Gummy Bear is great. Always fun seeing how they react when getting smacked by whatever is launched at it. The watermelons are fantastic too. The way they do that almost perfect split pattern on impact is always a really neat thing to watch. Of course, with this big ol' honker of a slug, it being basically vaporized a fraction of a second afterwards was pretty wild as well. Tim does come up with some neat stuff. It is really interesting to see some of these slugs do that wobble in flight and still hit right on point. And I do think you're right on the powder not taking well to the heat. Judging by what was happening to those wads, I'd be willing to bet that the pressure levels were starting to trend a bit to the scary side of the scale. Anyway, great show, as always!
I guess it's rather have the gas seals blow out and relieve the pressure than something else! Because these were working so well I really wasn't reviewing the HS footage looking for problems. I should have kept the shells on ice in retrospect
