  • @timvines7944
    @timvines7944 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have done a lot of float fishing and my experience is that you want to keep your line as tight as possible even when you’re fishing rapid water. Let out line just fast enough to keep up with your float as it goes down stream. If you release too much the fish will have spit out the worm, or whatever bait you’re using, before you can reel in enough line to set the hook.🐠

    You addicted guys need to use a centerpin for the first time. Its makes the hookup faster and a lot more fun fighting them big steelhead

    • @werejonesen1907
      @werejonesen1907 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed! I'll use a centerpin on a light rod anywhere from 10'6" to 13'6" with 10lb main and 4lb leader. On the East coast we just wacky rig a Berkeley pink or red worm.

    I appreciate the tips my friend! I am trying to figure out how to catch these Michigan Brown Trout and I have been wanting to try these little guys. In your experience, do the pink worms work well for Browns as well? Or would you opt for something darker in color??

    • @danielcannaday2207
      @danielcannaday2207 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      iFish the pink worms in Virginia where I'm from in many different size trout but honestly I have found for the taking a wife nightcrawler and pension at 3/4 in half leaving the head off and just hooking it through two or three times leaving the hook exposed and the worm dangling works best for meon small and large are brown trout I just fish it with a split-shot off the bottom and bump it to keep it drifting you just have to figure out what size white to use to keep it drifting slowly but steadily depending on the current but freshboxfish especially browns will hear it spinners and lures rather well the first day or two there in the waterbut I fished about everything you can imagine for trout and nightcrawlers armentors is my go-to for browns that have been in the water a while

    I've used this method countless times, but I either use a #8 circle and pull the worm over the eye with a splitshot or use a trout magnet jig head. Super deadly with bubblegum and natural color, depending on conditions. Also deadly for crappers.

      Same. I caught a sucker, rainbow, small mouth and redbreast on the same river (floating down on a canoe) using this rig. When the sucker got the worm I knew I was too deep. The smallie attacked it. The rainbow came out water for it. The most fun I’ve had, and everything was different. I’ve used the same set up every time since

    Mend your line to the downward current . You lost your fish because you flip your bail to early to let line out . Flip your bail after you mend and you will have a direct a to b line to your fish for hooksett. You set on slack line .
